Publicaciones y creaciones artísticas profesionales (máximo diez líneas)

Autor de más de 250 artículos en revistas de las especialidades de bioquímica y biología molecular, biología celular, farmacología y farmacia, fisiología y

gastroenterología, así como 12 capítulos de libros y ha dirigido 14 tesis doctorales. Sus principales contribuciones científicas hacen referencia a la descripción de los

mecanismos que subyacen al mantenimiento de la homeostasis intracelular del ion calcio y, en general, a la transducción de señales biológicas y mecanismos de

acoplamiento estímulo-respuesta. En este sentido, su contribución más importante en el ámbito de la fisiología celular es la serie de estudios desarrollada en humanos y animales de laboratorio sobre mecanismos de señalización en células no excitables eléctricamente en los que participan el sensor de calcio STIM1, el canal de calcio Orai y los canales de membrana TRP.

Summary of CV

This section describes briefly a summary of your career in science, academic and research; the main scientific and technological achievements and goals in your line of research in the medium -and long- term. It also includes other important aspects or peculiarities.

Javier González-Gallego (PhD, MD) is Full Professor of Physiology and Head of the Institute of Biomedicine (IBIOMED) at the University of León (Spain). Before joining the University of León in 1987, he was Senior Lecturer at the University of Salamanca (Spain) for five years, British Council Scholar at the University of Cambridge (UK) and Assistant Lecturer at the University of Granada (Spain). He has also served as Visiting Professor at the University of Leuven (Belgium) and Guest Professor at the Agricultural University of Nanjing (China). Professor González-Gallego has led and managed as principal investigator 29 competitive research projects (funded by the European Union and different Spanish research programmes) with a total funding allocation of more than 1 million eur. He serves as associated editor and reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals, and has coauthored 15 books, 43 book chapters, more than 200 peer-reviewed papers and around 500 scientific contributions at national and international Conferences. He has expertise in research management and administration (Head of University Department, Scientific Director of Research Institute), research evaluation (Spanish, Central-South American and European programmes), development of human capital (orientation of Spanish, European, South American, and Chinese Students), industrial partnership (contracts with different pharmaceutical companies), and international cooperation in science and technology (coordinator of EC projects, coordinator of postgraduate courses in South American Universities, Joint Projects with Italian, German, Swedish and British laboratories). He is member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Pineal Research (JCR first decile Journal, IF 9.6):
