T

he servant who embodies our common call to be servants of God prays for a well-trained tongue--not only so that he doesn’t belittle and damage the agressors, but so that he can be a comfort and consolation to the down and disheartened. It’s not easy to stand in a neutral place--trying to love the afflictor and support the afflicted. But such is the Servant’s (and OUR) place. ALL are worthy of our love and respect, for all bear the Glory of God. We see that in the Christ and, we hope, in those persecut- ing Him as we read this week’s Texts. The hymn used in the second chapter of Philippians presents us with “new Adam” Christology--Christ “does human- ity right,” by not grasping, as Adam did, to know what God knows and to do as God does, and to be be as God is. Christ merely lit up the world from where He was. And we, His followers, ought to take that seriously. The Gospel, the story of his trial, is our story, too. Let’s learn to be faithful in it and to love ALL the participants--even the Pilates and the sol- diers, the bystanders and all who breathe!\

-Fr. Bill Axe

E

A

A

s we enter Holy Week, I pray that you will each take the opportunity to pause and thank God for the blessings He has given you and your family. They may be hidden from you, but they are there. Just as they were hidden in the suffering that Christ endured for us, God’s blessings are in your lives also. You may be asked to change your attitude, from a Greek word which refers to the kind of think- ing we do that allows us to know how to act in the world. It is not the kind of abstract “knowing that” that we use with regard to facts, but the concrete “knowing how” involved in living out lives well. May your Holy Week be one of blessing for each of you.

Blessings, Sr. Karen

Hello St. Agatha members,

We are looking for volunteers to partici- pate in a new outreach ministry, carpool with a senior.

As many of you know many of our sen- ior citizens had to stop driving and it is difficult for them to attend mass or other events. Some are driven by their children, but when the children are working or busy they can not come to church.

The idea is to connect parishioners driv- ers with St. Agatha Seniors that will be willing to drive them to and from St.

Agatha to attend mass. The majority Live a short distance from the church.

WE WILL ASK YOU WHAT MASS YOU ATTEND, WHAT AREA YOU LIVE, YOU ALSO NEED TO HAVE INSURANCE.

If you are interested in participating, we will be behind the church after each mass

or you can call Gloria Walker 323-217-9122 or by e-mail at [email protected].

If you are a Senior that needs this service or you know of a senior that cannot at- tend church and needs this service please call the Church office 323-935-8127 and leave your name and phone number.

Thank you. May Our Father in Heaven continue to Bless you.

Lenten Boxes for the Trinitarian Missions

Fr. Bill and Fr. Frank's religious community, the Trini- tarian Fathers, has a network of mission outreach in the regions of India, Syria and Egypt. 100 % of what you contribute in the Lenten "mite boxes" will go to the aid of Catholics suffering some sort of persecution in these regions. The Holy Father has requested that the Trini- tarians use their resources to gain aid for persecuted Catholic Christians. Whatever you can provide is greatly appreciated.

"NOBODY CAN DO EVERYTHING BUT EVERYBODY CAN DO SOMETHING"

We received word that our Sat- urday meal guest "One String Guitar" has passed. "One String Guitar" as we called him would come on Saturday carrying his guitar with one string pushing his dog in a stroller. He would get his meal and then sing for us playing his one string guitar. We don't think he had family except those he would hang with from the streets. We ask that after you read this to please pray for the repose of the soul of "One String Guitar" who is now play-

ing and singing for the Lord on his one string guitar..Amen.

"Nobody can do every- thing but everybody can do something" is demonstrated through the support that is given the S.H.A.R.E. Ministry.

It takes all of us reaching out to pass on our blessings to serve our guests each Saturday.

We ask and you give your sup- port of our needs. The church allows us the space to serve, Azalie and Yolanda dedicate every Saturday to serve, Con- cepcion, Sydney, Rolando, En- rique, David, Joshue and Maria volunteer every Saturday. Her- minio and Ana Zuniga donate the fruit drinks every Saturday, Sharon. W has for over 10 years donated 9 cases of water

each month, Juan Rincon gets up before dawn each Saturday to get produce and flowers for our guests, Linda F and her family every month donates 3 sheet cakes to remind our guests that we celebrate and remember their Birthdays, Natalie B recycles to donate to a fund that assist some of our senior guests with support for their monthly discount bus pass, Carole B, donates items that are needed monthly, Dea- con Jim''s and the Gunther families each month brings items that are needed on the first Sunday every month and place in the barrels for distribu- tion to our guests during the month, ministries in the church when called upon to supply the

meal on Saturday donates the entire meal and when we reach out in need of prayer to refuel us God and you dear church family reach out with the fuel that sustains us. Our God is awesome !!!!!!! We are humbly grateful that God has blessed us by sending us with many loving, caring and supportive angels and saints. Amen.

Dear Family we ask God to walk with you each day and abundantly supply your needs for each days journey.as you go about doing your "God works"

and acts of kindness.

Amen.

A Message from the Archdiocese and The State Bar of California

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles is working closely with The State Bar of California in an effort to protect the immigrant community from fraud during the pending Immigration Reform.

Luis J. Rodriguez, State Bar president, has made one of his priorities this fraud prevention project, which the Archdiocese supports. Mr. Rodriguez states “Please be aware that at this time there is no Immigration Reform.

Do not give your hard-earned money to a lawyer or no- tary public for this purpose. It is against the law for them to take money for Immigration Reform because it does not exist at this time.”

If you have given money to a lawyer or notary public for this purpose, please immediately report them to The State Bar of California and we will work to get your money back. You can file a report by calling toll-free 1- 866-879-4532 or visit us at www.Calbar.org/espanol.
