his is a Greek word that the Church attributes toMary
. It means God-bearer. We honor Mary as Theotokos because we believe that she car-ried God within her womb. This affirms that the Son of God truly became man. He did not put on a "man suit." So Jesus really is God. Therefore, Mary carried Jesus, God, in her womb.Theotokos also means that we can truly call Mary, "the Mother of God." The Son of God took on human flesh, became one of us, by becoming the human son of Mary.
How incredible this is!?
But it does not stop there. Mary is not just the Mother of the Redeemer but also the Mother of the redeemed. She is our mother. She continues to help us with her prayers, her protection, and her ex-ample. In all of these ways, Mary bears God in her arms and brings Christ our Lord into our lives. This is why it is so important to have a per-sonal relationship with her. Besides, John 19 made quite clear that Jesus wanted us to accept Mary as our mother. It was His dying wish on the cross. For that reason, the whole Catholic Church celebrates the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God on January 1st. Remember that this is a Holy Day of Obligation. MARK YOUR CALENDARS! See the schedule on the next page.
Mary
,
Theotokos,
pray for us!
Christmas Blessings,
Theotokos
-E
CALENDARIOS! Vean la siguiente pagina para el
hora-rio de las misas.
Maria,
Theotokos,
Ruega por nosotros!

The Three Kings visited the Christ Child and
took gifts of great value.
This day marks the feast of the Three Kings, astrologers from the East, who are sometimes called the Three Wise Men. After a long journey in search of the Christ Child, the Three Kings presented Him with gifts. The actual feast day of the Three Kings, January 6, is celebrated in some coun-tries with parades, festivals and parties, especially on the eve of the feast. This year, the parish would like to begin the tradition of recognizing the importance of the Three Wise Men in the church liturgy and in the cultural customs of the parish and the school.
