This is the 6th Sunday of Easter.

Throughout the history of the Church issues have arisen that effect the entire Church. These matters are signiicant as is today’s issue about should the Gentiles have to be circumcised. After some debate and discussion in Jerusa- lem, by the Apostles and other early Church leaders, they come to the conclusion that God does not wish to place those type of Distractions on those converts. It would be unnecessary for converts to be circumcised.

Through prayer and collaboration and the work of the Holy Spirit the whole Church is in agreement with this decision.

Once again in our reading from Revelation we hear about the new and Holy City of Jerusalem coming out of heaven from God. This new city built on the Twelve Tribes of Israel and the Twelve Apostles, the old and new coming together to form a new beginning, external life with God present in everything. God will dwell with his people forever.

This weekend in the Gospel of John the message of love is at the center and core of our mission to spread the good news. God’s love replaces fear and offers us trust and healing. If we know Jesus, we know the Father and the love he has for us. There is only peace found in the love of Jesus Christ. From the beginning of time God has shown his love for us through all of creation.

He sent his son, Jesus to restore our lost relationship with him through sin. Jesus’ death and resurrection restores our lives with his love. He invites us to give witness to that love by all we do and say. We are liter- ally God’s love and witness in our world today. May the grace of the Holy Spirit lead and guide us to our eternal home. God Bless!!!

STEWARDSHIP IT’S WHAT WE DO!

“Faith In Action Idea Of The Week”

If you were arrested today for being a Christian

would there be enough evidence to convict you?

² ² ² ² ² ² ² ² ² ² ² ² ² ² ² ² The concept of hospitality is fundamental to a steward- ship way of life. When we envision hospitality, we naturally think of offering a sincere and warm welcome Ͷ to those new to our parish, for instance. We picture inving them in and making them feel at home and at ease in our presence, communicang to them that they are highly valued.

Today’s Gospel reading from John invites us to think of hospitality in a slightly different way. In it, we hear Jesus speaking this to his disciples: “Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him.”

Jesus is asking that we permit the Blessed Trinity to come and dwell within us. This is a stunning request.

It tells us that our first and most privileged form of hospitality should be directed towards God Himself.

How does one show hospitality to God? How do we make God “at home and at ease” within us? How can we communicate to God that He is “highly valued”

by us? Jesus tells us how: we are to keep His word, to follow HIs teachings.

To keep His word, we must know His word. This takes discipline and effort on our part. We must make the study of Scripture and Church teaching a priority in our daily lives.

If we want our parish to be a place of genuine Chrisan hospitality, we must be sure that our own hearts are hospitable dwelling places for the Blessed Trinity. Then our smiles and words, our greengs and ministries will radiate with the warmth of God’s love. And our parish family will become at least a li7le bit like Heaven on earth. This is the simplicity and glory of a stewardship

way of life. Children’s Faith Formation (CFF) News

Children’s Faith Forma on registra ons forms are available for next year!!! Please check the parish

website for more informa on.

Don’t forget to grab your child a Catholic Kids Bullen on your way in or out of church this weekend. They are in a basket in the vesbule. There are acvies to keep the children busy at church and reinforce the message from the Gospel each week.

We are in need of volunteers for our 2022/23 Children’s Faith Formaon program. We need both Adults catechists and Teens Aides (grades 7 and up) to help in our K thru 6

th

grade program. Please contact Evelyn Cedrun in the parish office for more informaon.
