This is the Third Sunday of Easter.

Our irst reading is from the Acts of the Apostles, which will be the case for all the Easter Season. These readings highlight what the apostles are doing after the resurrection. This weekend they are called before Sanhedrin, be- cause they kept preaching about Jesus to everyone. They were ordered not to even speak his name. Their reply was that they must speak and do what God or- ders them, rather than men. They are fearless. The Sanhedrin again orders them to stop teaching and preaching about Jesus. They rejoice at suffering dis- honor for Jesus. They will continue to teach and preach no matter what! We too are compelled to do the same, witness and give our lives to who Jesus is. Our second reading is from the Book of Revelations.

John had a vision of heaven and this reading gives a glimpse of what takes place. All the angels and saints continuously worship and praise God. The elders rep- resent the Twelve Apostles and the Twelve Tribes of Israel, who likewise worship and praise the Lamb of God, who is Jesus. This is a reinforcement of our call to be witnesses for Jesus by our thanks and praise. We too are commissioned as people of faith, having been baptized as brothers and sisters in Christ to go out to all the world and spread the “Good News”, that Jesus suffered and died for us, but has risen from the dead.

He invites us to share with him in everlasting glory.

In our Gospel from John, Jesus appears to his disciples at the Sea of Tiberius. They are ishing and have caught nothing. A man tells them to cast again. They didn’t recognize the man was Jesus. They caught man

ish and ate breakfast some of their catching with Je- sus. As they were eating Jesus asks Peter three times if he loves him? His response each time to Jesus was yes that he deinitely loves him. Jesus invites Peter and the others to follow him. We are part of this invitation, not on our terms, but on Jesus’ terms. So, let us joyfully follow Jesus at all cost. ~ Msgr. Bob

STEWARDSHIP IT’S WHAT WE DO!

“Faith In Action Idea Of The Week”

Become empowered when facing a medical challenge. The

Anointingof the Sick Sacrament is yours when needed.

² ² ² ² ² ² ² ² ² ² ² ² ² ² ² ² In today’s Gospel, we find the Apostles dejected and discouraged following the death of our Lord.

Poor Peter decides to throw in the towel on the whole disciple thing and go back to his old way of life, declaring, “I’m going fishing.” Upon hearing this, the other disciples follow him.

How easy it is for all of us to backslide on changes we have made in our lives, especially when it comes to our spiritual lives. But look how Jesus treats the disciples during their “backslide.” He is right there with them in the midst of it, already waing for them on the shore when they come back from their unsuccessful return to the fishing business (a1er abandoning their mission as disciples). Our Lord greets them tenderly, gives them some fishing pointers, and then prepares their breakfast. How gracious He is to them!

He is just as gracious today. When we find ourselves

“out at sea” Ͷ discouraged by our failures or for squan- dering the gi1s God has given us, or simply by a lack of progress in our faith life, Jesus is with us! He is calling to us from the shore to come back to Him without shame or embarrassment, but with hopeͲfilled trust in His steadfast love. He never res of offering “doͲovers”

if we just keep returning to Him.

This constant process of turning back to the Lord, of reevaluang our goals and priories as we aim for Heaven, is the essence of a stewardship way of life.

Let us take heart as we connue our journey today, secure in the knowledge that Jesus is beside us every step of the way.
