The Samaritan woman: ready to drink different water!

Lent is not only time that we put ourselves on our way to God, Lent is the time when God

comes to meet us.

Jesus at the well of Jacob talks with a woman from Samaria, with no religion, no husband,

adulterous and sinful.

Jesus, in the Gospel of the Samaritan woman starts the conversation with these words: "Give

me a drink".

Jesus presents himself as the prophet who reads her life, reveals her sins, He goes to the

bottom of her heart and finds it bitter and without water.

When we talk to the Lord we can not lie to ourselves or play foolish.

When we talk to the Lord it is not to discuss this religion or the other.

To talk to Jesus is to identify with the Samaritan woman. It is a look at the depth of our own

well. Jesus will fill it with water that quenches the thirst. The water that gives us life.

To talk to Jesus is to recognize that God is neither in the mountain nor in Jerusalem. God is in

our thirst.

God is not in the temple but in the cry of our spirit, that cries: give me your gift, give me your

living water.

A few days ago, a woman told the following:

I've stopped thinking that my husband can make me happy. He can’t. I'm just happy because

God makes me happy. Since I gave myself to God, he has opened an immense source of joy in

me. So my husband has been relived from a huge weight. Now, more than insisting him on

giving me what only God can give me, I am free to love and share my happiness with him.

And I think he feels better this way.

When we have tasted the water from the Lord that gives life, we do not need other sources.

The Samaritan woman spoke with Jesus. She listened. She first recognized Him as a prophet

and then as Christ, and she worshiped Him in spirit and wholeness.

Have a nice weekend!

Dios me hace feliz.
