I f you can remember back to the start of the “Year A” readings for “the numbered weeks,”--Ordinary Time-- the time of the hidden work of the Holy Spirit in the world--you will remember that we read the reading from Isaiah of the Suffering Servant. Year A is all about be- ing God’s “servant” in the world--We are reminded that we have a Master Who sends us on missions, some of which are easier for us than others. The problem is that we are not given a written order! How do we know that we are accomplishing the mission given to us? The first reading, today, says, “Share!” “Be generous!”
That is the first rule of any mission. The second reading reminds us that it isn’t in our words that we accomplish what we are supposed to do, but in our ac- tions. It is those actions that will “light up the world,” as Christ puts it in the Gospel.

as lecturas del día de hoy nos dan un mensaje de qué significa el ser discípulo de Jesús. La respuestas del salmo nos dice, “el hombre justo es una luz en las tinieblas hacia el bien.” Esto es lo que Cristo nos llama a que cada uno de nosotros sea, luz y sal de la tierra. ¿Qué es lo que esto significa el día de hoy? Significa que nosotros le damos al mundo su sabor. Somos el elemento que no permi- te que el mundo se marchite o que llegue a ser corrupto. Es a través de nuestra fe viviente que la gente ve cómo puede ser el reino de Dios. El ser un seguidor de Jesús requiere a que estemos bien de sal y no una conformidad desabrida. Los discípulos deberían de sobresalir, como una luz que alumbra en la cima de la montaña– no para que le pongamos atención a ellos– pero para darle gloria a Dios. Digamos “sí” a lo que Dios nos ha pedido y no tengamos miedo a vivir nuestra fe el día de hoy.Recordemos a quienes hemos perdido desde la Navidad y pidámosle a Dios a que bendiga sus familias y sus seres que- ridos.

ur readings today give us an insight into what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. The psalm re- sponse tells us “The just man is a light in darkness to the upright.” That is what Christ is calling each of us to be, light and salt of the earth. What does this mean to us today? It means that we give our world its flavor. We are the element preserving the world from decay and corruption. It is through our living faith that people see what God’s kingdom can be like. Being a follower of Jesus requires “saltiness,” not bland conformity. Disci- ples should stand out, like a light shining from a hilltop – not to call attention to themselves, but to give glory to God. Let us say yes to what God has asked and not be afraid to live our faith today.Let us remember those we have lost since Christmas and ask God’s blessings on their families and loved ones.

Relative Wellness
This year yoga will be every Tuesday night at 6:15p in the Hall. Relative Wellness is offering a special incentive to anyone wanting to improve their overall health this year. Anyone who attends 2 of the next 4 Tuesday night yoga sessions will receive a FREE, private, 15-minute session with our Health & Wellness Coach. All you have to do is show
up and complete two classes by February 4th to get your personal advice to better health. Nutritional and lifestyle counseling will begin after the last class in this series and can happen either here on St. Agatha's campus or by phone
beginning the week of February 10th. See you Tuesday for yoga!
