The Lord provides for Elijah’s needs as the widow of Zarephath shares with him from her want. Her generosity is mirrored in the widow in the temple who gives from her poverty and not from power, privilege, or excess. In Jesus, God became poor for us, offering himself to take away our sins.

Listen to the Word (Mark 12:28b-34)
As you listen to this familiar Scripture, what caught your ear in it today? What one word did you notice?
Look into your life
Question for children: How often do you put God first in your life? Do you think you can love others as much as you love yourself?
Question for youth: What do you think Jesus meant when he said to the scribe, “You are not far from the reign of God”?
Question for adults: When you heard the Greatest and New Commandments, which one should you improve on in your own life?
Activities for the week:
Take these activities to further reflect.
What can you do as a family of believers to show God that you love him with all your heart, soul, mind and strength?
Brainstorm as a family and then act on those ideas.
How can you show that you love your neighbors as yourself? Brainstorm as a family and then act on those ideas.
How do you show love for each other as a family? Do something special together as a family (camping, traveling, game night) to reestablish your commitment to love one another unconditionally.
Memorize the Greatest and Second Commandments from this Scripture. Ask yourselves each day this week: Did I put anything before God today? Did I love God today with all my heart? All my soul? All my mind? All my strength? Did I love others? Did I love myself?
Pray the Lord’s Prayer. Be reminded that this is the prayer our intercessor, Jesus, taught us to pray. Pray it each day this week as a family.

Pregunta para los niños: ¿Con cuánta frecuencia ponen a Dios primero en sus vidas? ¿Creen que pueden amar a los demás tanto como a ustedes mismos?
Pregunta para los jóvenes: ¿Qué creen que Jesús quiso decir cuando le dijo al escriba: “No estás muy lejos del reino de Dios”?
Pregunta para los adultos: Cuando escucharon el Gran
mandamiento y los nuevos mandamientos, ¿en cuál deben trabajar y mejorar en sus propias vidas?
Actividades para la semana:

Digan el Padrenuestro. Recuerden que ésta es la oración que Jesús nos enseñó y con la que intercedió por nosotros.

We fulfill our obligation to unite with one another in prayer.
Prayers are powerful and important for those in our parish community who are ill or need our support. In an effort to ensure our prayer request list is up to date, at the end of each month we will remove anyone from the list for whom we do not have a current request. Thank you for your cooperation and your prayers for our parishioners in need.
Prayer Requests: Names of recently deceased are listed in the Universal Prayer at the celebration of the Eucharist. These days of pandemic we want to pray particularly for all who are sick with COVID-19 and all who have died because of the pandemic. Our Lady of La Salette’s Knights of Columbus Council #12826 is offering students in grade eight through twelve the opportunity to participate in the Knight’s annual essay contest. First and Second place prizes awarded at each grade level.
The essay topic is:
Describe everyday obstacles that you may have experienced or witnessed others experiencing while living life of authentic faith. Explain how you have overcome these obstacles and how, by doing so, it has helped your faith continue to grow.
Essays, accepted in both English and Spanish, must be 500-750 words long and typed. You can pick up a registration form from Jillian Guidry, Ashley Diaz, Ed Hill, or any of the Knights of Columbus. You can also send an email to

Completed Applications and attached essays should be returned to the Religious Education Office by November 28, 2021.
