Advanced communications

This course aims to meet the mandatory minimum requirements for seafarers for communication methods and proficiency in using different communication devices on board according to Section 11 of IMO Model course 7.01.

 This course covers the requirements of section 11 of the IMO Model course 7.01.

Those candidates successfully attend this course will be able to perform the following duties:

- using all communication devices and equipment required under the GMDSS.

- Know the different documents should be in the radio station on- board.

- using the International Code of Signaling for coding and encoding messages.

- format a message to request medical assistance at sea.

- understanding mandatory ship’s reporting systems.

- understanding different signals used in communication between ship and a helicopter.

- using the Standard Marine phrases vocabularies.
