2.4   Conclusiones 53

En este capítulo se han revisado los conceptos más importantes de los sistemas multiantena, como son los sistemas de antenas inteligentes y los sistemas MIMO, y su importancia en los sistemas de comunicaciones inalámbricas actuales y futuros al ser tecnologías punta que propor- cionan la calidad de señal y las altas tasas de transmisión que requieren los nuevos servicios de comunicaciones, mediante estrategias que permiten superar con creces las limitaciones impues- tas por la propagación de las señales en el espacio.

La descripción de los sistemas con antenas inteligentes permite entender el engranaje y la importancia de los sistemas de localización basados en la estimación de DOA, la cual se estudia a profundidad tanto teóricamente como experimentalmente en los siguientes capítulos. Así mismo, se han revisado algunas métricas MIMO con las cuales se evaluará, por ejemplo, la ca- pacidad MIMO obtenida con modelos y con datos experimentales en el capítulo correspondien- te.
