In a dream, a vision of the night, when sound sleep falls on men, while they slumber in their beds, then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction, That He may turn man aside {from his} conduct, And keep man from pride; He keeps back his soul from the pit, And his life from passing over into the river of death (Job 33:15–18 NAS).
It is a scientifically proven fact that everyone dreams every night when we enter a stage of sleep called Rapid Eye Movement (REM). But have you ever had a dream that made you wonder if there was more to it than a physiological experience? Maybe you asked yourself if it had a hidden or profound meaning. If so, you are not alone. Biblical history agrees that God has spoken to mankind through dreams since the beginning of time. Our dream life is like a highway on which messages are carried to the mind’s eye and then to the spirit.
These messages may come from a variety of sources: from the body, from the soul, from evil influences in the demonic realm, or from God through messengers of the angelic realm. As the Holy Spirit hovers over mankind, he embraces us during the night season, and gifts us with dreams that call us to pursue him with all our hearts.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5–6).
The mysteries he seals within our spirits create urgency within us to seek after him for the key to unlock the revelation he has deposited.
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You (Psalm 9:10).

When the message is from God, REM sleep is an opportunity for him to bypass the rational thinking of our logic and deposit messages through the mind’s eye, or what we refer to as the image center. The mind’s eye can be defined as: the human ability for visual perception, imagination, visualization, and memory. In other words, the mind’s eye is one’s ability to see things with the mind. Because many dreams are symbolic mysteries, God’s guidance is necessary to uncover their hidden meanings. God intended that we get to know him better through this process of discovering the meaning of our dreams.
Our image center is a vehicle that the Holy Spirit can access if we are open to him. The Holy Spirit will give us dreams in the night or streams of thought during the day to bring revelation and direction to our lives.
Repeat the following simple exercise to activate your image center.
Close your eyes and begin to visualize yourself in your bedroom. Now quickly envision your kitchen. Move to your car, and finally arrive at a beautiful beach where the sun is setting. The sky is painted with a multi-colored sunset as you walk barefoot in the sand.
The waves are rippling over your feet and the wind is gently blowing in your hair. Your mind’s eye allows you to speed through time and space.
Visualization creates awareness that incorporates all five senses.
Many people use this technique to relieve stress by reflecting on positive memories.
Through activating the image center we can travel at the speed of thought and transition through time from setting to setting. In prayer, this technique enables us to visualize friends, family members, or situations that God wants to bring to our attention. When we surrender our image center to the Holy Spirit he is able to lead and guide us into truth through a series of impressions, which give us his insight on a situation. We can develop our understanding of the images projected onto the screens of our hearts by allowing the Holy Spirit in his still, small voice to teach us how to interpret, sense the urgency of, and understand the symbolism of what we see. This process may occur as a simple interruption in our thoughts, during times of intentional reflection, while daydreaming, or during sleeping hours.
Think back on an experience of not seeing someone for a while, and the thought of that person comes to mind out of the blue one day. Then a short time later, the phone rings and it is that person on the line. This is an example of how natural use of the image center can become supernatural. When faith is used to activate this process, God begins to show us things we would not naturally know during the course of our everyday lives. He often shows us pictures and impressions that pass across the mind’s eye. By communicating in this way, God works to strengthen his relationship with us. He takes us on a journey of supernatural guidance through the Holy Spirit, and teaches us to discern between good and evil influences. Whether specific dreams are to reveal hidden issues, to inspire us to greatness, to keep us out of harm’s way, or to provide insight into the world around us, God leads us through a revelatory cycle of dreaming to build a transitional bridge. This connection is where our dreams become the link between his infinite wisdom and our finite thinking. It is God’s desire to draw us by the Holy Spirit to a place of acknowledgement that this bridge is a point of crossing from the limited realm of our plans to his limitless realm.
The Music of Our Spiritual DNA
For you formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, {And} skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained {for me,} When as yet there was not one of them
(Psalm 139:13–16 NASU).
God places a piece of himself into every person who is born.
Genesis 1:27 states
So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Just like with physical DNA, God has written the formula on our spiritual DNA of what we have the potential to become in this life.
Our spiritual DNA has been designed for God’s purposes. He reveals sin and error in our dreams and gives us the choice to replace them with power, anointing, revelation, and the ability to overcome. It is an individual choice to receive this revelation and apply it to our lives.
However, when it comes to our spiritual DNA (our destiny) we each get to choose what forces will influence our destiny the most—self, darkness, or God’s light. It is up to the individual to not only recognize God’s spiritual DNA in our lives, but to activate our destiny for godly purposes rather than for evil or self-fulfilling purposes. Before I moved to Texas, God revealed a powerful truth to me about spiritual DNA. I had a spiritual encounter in a dream in which I was visited by someone who said that he had been sent to change my spiritual DNA and he was going to give me a blood transfusion for my next spiritual assignment.
The interpretation of the dream revealed that it was given to prepare me for a change in location. Different geographic regions and states require a shift in our thinking, body metabolism, and even the sound frequency we will release to come into harmony with the new assignments God is giving us. Like musical instruments, we have to be fine tuned and polished in order to harmonize with the new seasons God has for us. We must resonate with a new sound for a new season and assignment, otherwise we will be off-key and the favor of man will not be extended to us.
Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; all Your waves and billows have gone over me. The LORD will command His loving kindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me–A prayer to the God of my life (Psalm 42:7).
This Scripture depicts the truth that the deep places of God call out to the deep places of himself that he put within each of us. He is calling for us to be reconnected and united with him—which is the purpose for which we were created. Although the concept of deep calling to deep between God and us is difficult to understand, quantum physics shows a similar scientific perspective of how different forms of matter give off unique vibrations.
All matter is made up of elements, elements are made up of atoms, and atoms are made up of electrons, protons, and neutrons.
There are twelve major subatomic particles known to man. They consist of six uncharged particles called leptons, and six charged particles called quarks. Physicists have also identified five particles that carry an invisible power force, known as bosons. All these particles are associated with light and exist in the invisible realm. The evasive Higgs boson, better known as the “God particle,” has a subatomic mass between 115 and 160 giga-electron volts. This particle is lighter than an atom of gold, but a little heavier than an atom of silver. The God particle boson is believed to be the force that holds everything in the universe together.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it (John 1:1–5 NKJV). Emphasis author’s.
Yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live (1 Corinthians 8:6 NKJV).
And to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ (Ephesians 3:9 NKJV).
For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist (Colossians 1:16–17 NKJV).
When I learned of the invisible boson God particle, its mass being around that of silver and gold atoms, as well as its power to hold things together, I was reminded of the Scripture passage where the man crippled from birth was healed.
