Message from Our Pastor
My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes,
Happy Easter! Remember we in the Church celebrate the
whole Octave of Easter as one glorious day and that we celebrate
the Easter season for 50 days. So keep up the joy!
We have had a glorious start. I want to thank everyone
who worked so hard to make our Holy Week Liturgies so beautiful
and powerful. They lifted us up to the Lord. Those of us who
gathered for the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday
have a sense of just how many people have dedicated
themselves to helping us come to the table of the Lord. I
congratulate them all!
I also want to affirm the crowds that gathered for Easter
Sunday. It always impresses me that in spite of our sometimes
distracted hearts there is a real sense among the people of God
of who we are as a people of the Resurrection. Jesus is truly
risen and in his resurrection we find life. It is Jesus’ passion,
death, and resurrection that we share not just Easter Sunday but
every Sunday. Jesus called together His Church and filled it with
His Spirit precisely so that the joy of Easter, the power of the
Resurrection, could be ours not just for a day but for a lifetime.
That same Spirit is active in all the Sacraments of the Church. On
this day of Mercy, I would like to announce that we will continue
with our expansion of the hours available for confessions. We will
offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation each weekday starting one
hour before the morning and evening Masses and ending 15
minutes before Mass begins so that the priest can prepare
him-self well for the celebration of the Eucharist. God indeed is
merci-ful and we encounter His mercy in Christ.

Mensaje de Nuestro Párroco
Mi Querida Familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes,
¡Felices Pascuas! Recuerda que celebramos en la Iglesia
la Octava de Pascua como un día glorioso y que celebramos la
Pascua durante 50 días. ¡Así que mantenga el gozo!
Hemos tenido un comienzo glorioso. Quiero dar las gracias
a todos los que trabajaron tan duro para hacer nuestras Liturgias
de Semana Santa tan bellas y poderosas. Nos levantaron hacia
el Señor. Aquellos que nos reunimos para la Misa de la Cena del
Señor el Jueves Santo tenemos una idea de la cantidad de
per-sonas que se han dedicado a ayudarnos a llegar a la mesa del
Señor. ¡Los felicito a todos!
También quiero afirmar las multitudes que se reunieron
para el Domingo de Pascua. Siempre me impresiona que a pesar
de nuestros corazones a veces distraídos, hay un sentido real
en-tre el pueblo de Dios de quienes somos como pueblo de la
Resu-rrección. Jesús ha resucitado verdaderamente y en su
resurrec-ción encontramos la vida. Es la pasión, muerte y resurrecresurrec-ción de
Jesus lo que compartimos no sólo el domingo de Pascua, sino
cada domingo. Jesús llamó a Su Iglesia y la llenó con su Espíritu,
precisamente para que la alegría de la Pascua, el poder de la
re-surrección, pueda ser nuestra no sólo por un día, sino para toda
la vida.
Ese mismo Espíritu está activo en todos los Sacramentos
de la Iglesia. En este día de la Misericordia quiero anunciar que
vamos a continuar con nuestra expansión de las horas
disponi-bles para las confesiones. Ofreceremos el Sacramento de la
Re-conciliación, de lunes a viernes una hora antes de las Misas de la
mañana y de la tarde terminando 15 minutos antes de que
em-piece la Misa para que el sacerdote pueda prepararse bien para
la celebración de la Eucaristía. Dios es realmente misericordioso
y encontramos su misericordia en Cristo.

Looking Forward to Pentecost?
Confirmation – Sealed With the Gifts of the Holy Spirit
In Baptism, we die and rise with Christ and become, in Him, a new creation. All previous sin is forgiven, we enter the community of believers that we call the Body of Christ and an eternal link with Christ is forged. The Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) reminds us that “Through the Holy Spirit, Baptism is a bath that purifies, justifies, and sanctifies.”
(CCC Para 1227)
But there is more to come.
Through the laying on of hands and anointing with the chrism, the Holy Spirit is poured out as it “once was poured out to the apostles on the day of Pentecost” thus increasing and deepening baptismal grace. It roots us more deeply with Abba, our Father, it unites us more firmly to Christ, strengthens our bond with his holy Church, increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us, and strengthens us to spread the Good News and boldly proclaim the cross. (See CCC Para 1302 - 1303) In a very real way, Confirmation empowers our discipleship.
It is easy for us to take our Confirmation for granted and to lose our sense of awe and wonder at who we are as God's holy people. What has been given to us through the actions and gifts of the Holy Spirit is part of the very definition of our disciple-ship.
Over the next several weeks, we will reflect on the gifts given to us at Confirmation and ponder how these gifts animate our lives.

Adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, “Just One Hour”
When we come before Jesus exposed in the Blessed Sacrament, we come to Him as we are. He already knows us. He has called us to Himself. He ardently loves us and longs to be with us. Jesus wants to see us “face to face” to commune with us “heart to heart,” not like it was a long distance phone call. He wants to listen to us, to love, heal and care for us. All of our cares are His cares. All of our joys are His joys. All of our concerns are His concerns. All of our loved ones are His loved ones.
“Come to me all of you who are weary and find life burdensome and I will refresh you.” Mt 11:28; “Cast all your anxieties on Him for He cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7
Adorando a Jesús en el Santísimo Sacramento “Sólo una Hora”
Cuando venimos frente a Jesús expuesto en el Santísimo Sacramento, venimos hacia El tal como somos. El ya nos conoce. El nos llama hacia Si. Nos ama ardientemente y añora estar con nosotros. Jesús nos quiere ver “cara a cara” para estar en comunión con nosotros de “corazón a corazón”, no como una llamada a larga distancia. El quiere escucharnos, amarnos, sanarnos y cuidar de nosotros. Lo que es importante para nosotros lo es también para El. Nuestros gozos son Sus gozos. Nuestra preocupaciones son Sus preocupaciones. Aquellos que amamos son amados también por El.
