ANDER AUDIKANA (ander. [email protected]) is research associate at the University of Deusto (Spain). He studied sociology at University of Deusto in Bilbao, University Iberoamericana in Mexico City (Mexico) and École normale supérieure (Ulm) in Paris (France). He holds a Master of City and Regional Planning and a PhD in Sociology from University Paris-Est (France). His dissertation, The politics of the Spanish high-speed rail policy (1986-2011): the construction of a myth, the production of a consensus, the emergency of a

controversy, was awarded with the

best dissertation award “University Paris-Est 2012”. Ander was Fulbright-Schuman scholar at George Mason University School of Public Policy and the Center for Environmental Public Policy, Goldman School of Public Policy, UC Berkeley (United States of America - USA). He was also visiting research fellow at the LaSUR (Urban Sociology Laboratory) Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) (Switzerland). His main researches focus on public policy, territorial analysis and European studies.

where is writing his PhD thesis. He holds a Master’s degree from the University of Neuchatel (Switzerland) both in geography and German studies. His present research deals with different aspects of mobility, such as high mobility practices, modal choice, individual mobility potential, transportation-urban planning coordination, etc., as well with urban and territorial issues in general. His doctoral thesis focuses more specifically on cross-border mobility and on the impacts of national borders on the daily life of cross-border cities inhabitants, combining qualitative, quantitative and spatial data.

C A R O L I N E G A L L E Z ([email protected]) is a senior researcher at Ifsttar (French institute of science and technology for transport, development and networks) in the City, Transport and Mobility Laboratory (France). Trained as an economist (PhD in economic science at the University Paris 1 Sorbonne, France), she has been working for the last fifteen years on the building of local public policies. Her main areas of interest are the social representation of mobility and the analysis of mobility and land-use policies regarding social and environmental issues. At the request of the Volvo Foundation for Research and Education (VREF), she worked with Sylvie Fol (University of Paris 1-Sorbonne) on the social issues of urban access to opportunities. Caroline Gallez is director of the PhD school “City, Transport and Territories” of University Paris-Est. She is a member of “Flux”, international scientific quarterly on networks and territories.

SABINE HESS ([email protected]) is professor at the Institute for cultural anthropology/ European ethnology, University of Göttingen (Germany). She completed her PhD thesis on transnational migration of Slovakian women into domestic work at the Frankfurt institute for Cultural Anthropology, published as “Globalisierte Hausarbeit. Au-Pair als Migrationsstrategie von Frauen aus Osteuropa”. She was coordinator of the European wide research- and film-project “TRANSIT MIGRATION” founded by the Cultural Foundation of Germany. She worked as assistant professor at the Institute for Folklore Studies and European Ethnology at the Ludwig-Maximilian-University of Munich. She was the scientific curator of several interdisciplinary research and exhibition projects on the history of immigration to German cities. Sabine directs research projects on the European border regime at South-Eastern Europe and Germany. She is co-founder of the interdisciplinary European-wide “Network for Critical Migration- and Border-Regime Research” (kritnet) and member of the German wide “Rat für Migration” (Council for migration). Her main areas of research and teaching are migration and border regime studies, anthropology of globalization and transnationalism, anthropology of policy with a focus on EU integration and processes of Europeanisation, gender studies and anthropological methodologies.

DAN IEL INNER A RI T Y ([email protected]) is full professor of political and social philosophy, IKERBASQUE researcher at the University of the Basque Country (Spain) and director of the Institute for Democratic Governance. Prof. Innerarity is Doctor of Philosophy and studied in Germany as a fellow at the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Switzerland and Italy. He has been a visiting professor at several European and American universities – most recently the Robert Schuman Center for Advanced Studies at the European Institute of Florence and the London School of Economics. Currently, he is Director of Associate Studies at the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme in Paris. Among his latest books we should point out

Doc -tor en Filosofía, amplió sus estudios en Alemania, como becario de la Fundación Alexander von Humboldt, Suiza e Italia. B E A T R I Z I Ñ A R R I T U IBARRECHE (beatriz.inarritu@ deusto.es) is PhD of the University of Deusto (UD) and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Studies from the Commercial University of Deusto (Spain). Her thesis, “Systems of European Economic Governance: Proposal for Analysis and Measurement”, was carried out within the framework of the program of International and Intercultural Studies of the University of Deusto. Since 1988, she has lectured on EU Economics, in the Bachelor’s of Economics and Business Studies and Law at the UD, at the University School of the Chamber of Commerce of Bilbao (Spain), and at the Institutes of Leisure and European Studies of the UD. Currently she teaches in the Department of Economics of Deusto Business School of the UD. Partner of European Business Strategies, E-3, in which she directs and develops different consulting projects in the field of business and EU internationalization. She has taught in the Diploma on Community Law of the Universidad Iberoamericana de México in collaboration with the UD, giving the module on “European Internal Market and implementation of the Euro” in Mexico DF. She is a regular speaker at conferences organized by business entities and organizations that contribute to a

better understanding of the different issues related to the EU and business internationalization. She has participated in a Research Team of the UD in the project “Innovative Instruments of Governance of the European Union. Impact on public management and regional competitiveness”. She is the author of the section “Community Chronicle: the institutional and economic news of Spain within the framework of the EU” in “Cuadernos Europeos de Deusto”, an academic journal edited by the UD. She is co-author of the annual publications “Guide to Mobility in the EU” and “Notes on the EU and Bizkaia” edited by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia. She has co-authored the Internationalization Case published by the ICEX: “Inauxa, a SME in the World Automotive Market”.

BERND KASPAREK (bk@ bordermonitoring.eu) is PhD candidate associated with the Laboratory for Critical Migration and Border Regime Studies at the University of Göttingen (Germany). Bernd is a mathematician (Dipl.-Mat.) and cultural anthropologist focusing on migration and border studies. His current PhD project traces the Europeanisation of migration and border policies. He is a founding member of the Network for Critical Migration and Border Regime studies (kritnet), on the editorial board of movements journal and member of the board of the research association bordermonitoring.eu.

VINCENT KAUFMANN ([email protected]) is associate professor of urban sociology and mobility at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) (Switzerland). He studied sociology at the University of Geneva, followed by a doctorate from the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in 1998. Since then he has been invited scholar at the University of Lancaster (2001), at the Ecole des Ponts, Paris (2001 – 2002); and invited professor at the University of Cergy-Pontoise (2002-2003), Université Catholique de Louvain-la-Neuve (2005-2017), Université Laval (2008), Nimegen University (2010) and Université de Toulouse Le Mirail (2011). He is director of the laboratory of Urban Sociology (LaSUR) and the Doctoral Program Architecture and Sciences of the City (EDAR) at the EPFL. He is also scientific director of the Think Tank Mobile Lives Forum in Paris. His research has focused essentially on urban life (multi-residency, the temporal and spatial arrangements of programs of activity); the politics or urban planning and transport; as well as the notion of mobility and its importance in terms of setting social structures.

N I C O L A S M A R I S C A L BERÁSTEGUI (nicolas.mariscal@ deusto.es) is Emeritus Professor of the University of Deusto (Spain) and Professor Jean Monnet. His area of research focuses on Political Science and International Relations. Among his most recent recent publications

GERARDO MEIL (gerardo. [email protected]) is professor of sociology at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain). Master Degree in economics and in political science, and PhD in Sociology at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in 1987. President of the European Society on Family Relations and member of several scientific associations. His research and publications focus on family sociology, gender violence, geographical mobility and social policy. He has implemented many research projects on these topics funded by public and private institutions at regional, national and European level. B E N J A M I N M O T T E -BAUMVOL (benjamin.motte@ u-bourgogne.fr) is an associate professor at Université de Bourgogne (Department of Geography) and researcher at the ThéMA CNRS laboratory (Theory and Modelling for Planning) (France). He was for several years the head of studies of the Master degree in Transport, Mobility and Environment and continues as a professor in this programme. His research focus on public transportation services measure, car dependency and mobility behaviour analysis, including gender issues, socio-spatial inequalities and the influence of the Internet. These research objects are applied to two privileged work fields: France and Brazil. Benjamin Motte-Baumvol was a visiting professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro six months in 2013, and published several articles in international journals with Brazilian researchers. In France, after leading a research project on the effects of online sales on accessibility to businesses in urban peripheries, he is now engaged in a three-year research project on demotorisation involving several teams from different universities.

DAVID ORDÓÑEZ SOLÍS ([email protected]) works as a contentious-administrative law magistrate (Spain); holds a doctorate in Law; is specialized in European Law by the University of Brussels and is a member of the Commission’s Team Europe and of the Network of Experts in EU Law of the Consejo General del Poder Judicial de España. He has been a university lecturer in European law and has developed a relevant postgraduate teaching activity. He has lectured and directed numerous specialized courses in Europe — Germany, France, Belgium, Portugal and Bulgaria — and America — Argentina, Dominican Republic, Bolivia, El Salvador and Paraguay —. His main research interest focuses on European law and the political-constitutional dimension of judges. Regarding European law he researches the system of public procurement, financial control and the fight against fraud and corruption as well as the transposition of European law in Spanish law. On the role of judges in a democratic society his research has centered in the political and ethical dimension of the exercise of judicial power. David has been awarded several essay and research prizes in EU matters (Fundación Asturias), financial control of European funds (IGAE), European internal market (Consejo General del Poder Judicial), judicial ethics (Comisión Iberoamericana de Ética Judicial) and on the protection of personal data (Agencia Española de Protección de Datos).

PEDRO ROMERO BALSAS ([email protected]) is lecturer at the Department of Sociology at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain). He holds a PhD in sociology (with distinction) by Autonomous University of Madrid, 2014. He has a bachelor degree in sociology (University of Alicante, 2008). He has a master’s degree in social anthropology (University of Murcia, 2010) and a Master’s diploma in multivariate statistical techniques (UNED, 2009). He has been visiting research fellow at Thomas Coram Research Unit (University College London), at the Federal Institute for Population Research (Germany) and at the Department of Sociology and Political Science at the NTNU (Norway). He is a member of the research group “Analysis of family change” coordinated by Gerardo Meil. He is treasurer of the European Society on Family Relations and board member of the RN13 in the European Sociological Association. He has taught undergraduate subjects sociology, sociology of education and new social inequalities” at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. His research areas are sociology of families, parental leave, fatherhood, parenthood, multicultural families, job mobility and public policies.
