NUESTRO SEÑOR JESUCRISTO, REY DEL UNIVERSO 22 DE NOVIEMBRE, 2015 NOSTRO SIGNORE GESÙ CRISTO RE DELL'UNIVE RSO 22 DI NOVEMBRE, 2015
“Jesus Christ is the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead and ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, who has made us into a kingdom, priests for his God and Father, to him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen…Jesus answered ‘my kingdom does not belong to this world.’” We bring the church’s
year of grace to a close, as we proclaim who Jesus is for us all. Celebrating this great feast, may we pause for a moment and ask, ‘How often do I pray the words of Jesus, ‘Thy kingdom come?’ What do they mean to me? How often I have listened to the parables which begin with the words ‘The kingdom of heaven is like’ or ‘The kingdom of God is like’. Jesus is speaking of our church, the place where grace flows, blessings pour out and Jesus is at the center. Our celebration today allows us to refocus and make sure that He is what we proclaim in reality, that He is the one from whom we receive the love and freedom of which Revelation speaks. As we direct our attention on Him, we repeat the words of praise above, and express gratitude for the kingdom, the church, to which we belong, live, move and have our being.

¡A él sea la gloria y el poder por los siglos de los siglos! Amén… Jesús respondió ‘mi reino no es de este mundo.’” Llegamos al final del año de gracia de la iglesia
mientras proclamamos que Jesús es para todos. Celebramos su gran festividad mientras hacemos una pausa y nos preguntamos ‘¿Qué tan a menudo oro las palabras de Jesús ‘Vénganos tu Reino’? Qué significan para mí?’ A menudo he escuchado las parábolas que empiezan con las palabras ‘El reino del cielo es como’, o ‘El reino de Dios es como’. Jesús le habla a nuestra iglesia, el lugar en donde la gracia fluye, las bendiciones brotan y Jesús está en el centro. Nuestra celebración hoy nos permite re enfocar y asegurarnos de que El es lo que proclamamos en realidad, que El es de quien recibimos el amor y la libertad que se mencionan en el libro del Apocalipsis. Al dirigir nuestra atención a El, repetimos las palabras de alabanza arriba mencionadas, y expresamos gratitud por el reino y la iglesia, a los cuales pertenecemos, vivimos, en donde
nos movemos y está nuestro ser.

Ma, al contrario, questa scena straziante della passione secondo san Giovanni, in cui Gesù umiliato e in catene compare davanti a Pilato, onnipotente rappresentante di un impero onnipotente. Scena straziante in cui l’accusato senza avvocato è a due giorni dal risuscitare nella gloria, e in cui il potente del momento è a due passi dallo sprofondare nell’oblio. Chi dei due è re? Quale dei due può rivendicare un potere reale (Gv 19,11)? Ancora una volta, secondo il modo di vedere umano, non si poteva che sbagliarsi. Ma poco importa. I giochi sono fatti. Ciò che conta è il dialogo di questi due uomini. Pilato non capisce niente, né dei Giudei, né di Gesù (Gv 18,35), né del senso profondo del dibattito (Gv 18,38). Quanto a Gesù, una sola cosa conta, ed è la verità (Gv 18,37). Durante tutta la sua vita ha servito la verità, ha reso testimonianza alla verità. La verità sul Padre, la verità sulla vita eterna, la verità sulla lotta che l’uomo deve condurre in questo mondo, la verità sulla vita e sulla morte. Tutti campi essenziali, in cui la menzogna e l’errore sono mortali. Ecco cos’è essere re dell’universo: entrare nella verità e renderle testimonianza (Gv 8,44-45). Tutti i discepoli di Gesù sono chiamati a condividere la sua regalità, se “ascoltano la sua voce” (Gv 18,37). È veramente re colui che la verità ha reso libero (Gv 8,32).

Father JebaFOOD DRIVE
As announced las weekend the parish is conducting a food drive for families in
need for this Thanksgiving Day. Non-perishable food items will be collected. Financial donations placed in an envelope and
marked Food Drive will also be accepted. Boxes will be available at the entrances to the
church for these donations for the needy. You may also leave your donations at parish
rectory office. The last day to submit your
donations will be on November 24th, 2015.
