Luego continuó diciendo: “Eso no me

P. Joachim Lepcha

Repent and commit!

A friend of Abraham Lincoln one day tried to console the President in his many problems by

saying, “I hope that the Lord is on our side.” Lincoln replied kindly but firmly that this was not

his hope. Everyone was amazed! Then he went on to say, “I am not at all concerned about that, for we know that the Lord is always on the side of the right. But it is my constant anxiety and prayer that I and this nation should be on the Lord’s side.” We

are so occupied with our daily responsibilities and engrossed in the surpassing beauty of the world, that

sometimes we forget, it is passing away. We forget the ultimate goal is the kingdom of God.

In our search of worldly riches and power, we may lose the things which money cannot buy. Today we are

living in a world of “no God” and rely on our own intellectual capabilities and human progress. The crises of

COVID-19 is also teaching us that no human power can overcome the power of God. He has the power to cure us, He has got the ultimate power, for it is His Kingdom and we are in it. We are like Jonah whom God asked to go Eastward but he goes Westward. (Jon. 1:30) We fail to understand His ways.

In the Gospel of the Third Sunday of ordinary

time, (Mk. 1:14-20) all four fishermen followed Jesus leaving everything behind “at once they left their nets and

followed him” (Mk. 1:18.) They were with Jesus all the time, while He was healing people; they even shared in the glory of His transfiguration and went with Him to the

garden of Gethsemane. These were the very special moments in the life of Jesus. Yet they kept quarrelling

about who should be the first. They disowned and ditched Him when he was arrested. In spite of all these things, Jesus stood by them, forgave them, continued to consider them his apostles. He kept Simon on as the head of his

Church. We admire the Lord in his standing by his apostles and his commitment to them.

They abandoned him but he did not abandon them. We all are called to repent and go back to the Lord and show our commitment to Him.

This is the culture of our times when we are constantly on the lookout for change and novelty. We are

quick to drop one relationship and look for another at the slightest provocation. We call each other friends but part

ways after a single harsh word or even a healthy confrontation. We need to ask the Lord for strength in our

commitment to Him first and then to others.

During this challenging time, He is asking us to come back to Him and trust in Him. There are going to be times when things get rough. Lay people, religious and priests all live moments when we want to run away from the situation at hand. We need the Lord to recharge our batteries and lift our spirits high.

COVID-19 VACCINE

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles strongly encourages Catholics to receive a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine

for the sake of ourselves, our loved ones, and the common good. If some of the faithful choose not to take the vaccine for reasons of conscience, the Vatican says

those persons “must do their utmost to avoid becoming vehicles for the transmission of the infectious agent.”

On December 21, 2020, the CDF stated:

“All vaccinations recognized as clinically safe and effective can be used in good conscience with the certain

knowledge that the use of such vaccines does not constitute formal cooperation with the abortion from which

the cells used in production of the vaccines derive” “the morality of vaccination depends not only on the duty to protect

one's own health, but also on the duty to pursue the common good.”“In the absence of other means to stop or even prevent the epidemic, the common good may recommend vaccination, especially to protect the weakest and most exposed.”

Prayer to St. Joseph

We need only ask Saint Joseph for the grace of graces: our conversion.

Let us now make our prayer to him: Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. To you God entrusted his only Son;

in you Mary placed her trust; with you Christ became man. Blessed Joseph, to us too,

show yourself a father and guide us in the path of life. Obtain for us grace, mercy and courage,

and defend us from every evil. Amen.

Oración a San Jose

DID YOU KNOW?

Talk to your children about social media challenges

Children have spent many months at

home now, separated from friends and classmates. Social media is a great tool to stay in touch, but there are definitely dangerous aspects to much “screen time” that parents need to be aware about. Social media challenges range from funny and harmless to risky and dangerous — and sometimes even illegal. If your child has social media accounts, talk to them about making smart choices and about knowing the difference between harmless pranks and seriously dangerous stunts. Make a pact

to discuss anything they see their friends or acquaintances doing before they try it out at

home.For more Information visit:https://lacatholics.org/
