2– March 7, 2021 Third Sunday of Lent Hello everyone!
Our annual Pastoral Council retreat was online this year. This year we looked at the Fruit of the Holy Spirit, particularly at the fruit we see present in our parish. The fruit most present, according to the retreat participants, was faithfulness. This faithfulness has been so present during this pandemic time, as you all have kept connected in prayers, through the internet, and in person. Thank you so much!
In the Gospel today, we see how Jesus shows his faithfulness to God the Father with an exclamation point! All those selling animals and changing coins in the temple are distracting the Israelites from the real importance of the place. God is there to encounter his people and not make sure they have the right animal for sacrifice. As he spills the coins and chases the animals out, we see the passion Jesus shows for the temple. Are we as passionate for our place of grace, St Patrick church and parish
community?
In these days we found out who our new pastor will be. After having served a number of years in Racine, Wisconsin, Fr. Antony Primal Thomas of the Community of St Paul will be moving to Whitewater in June. We are grateful to the Archdiocese for
assigning Father Antony and look forward to getting to know him!
He will be a great gift to St Patrick and Whitewater.

Nuestro retiro anual del Consejo Pastoral fue en línea este año.
Este año miramos el Fruto del Espíritu Santo, particularmente el fruto que vemos que está presente en nuestra parroquia. El fruto más que está más presente, según los participantes del retiro, fue la fidelidad. Esta fidelidad ha estado tan presente durante este tiempo de pandemia, ya que todos se han mantenido conectados en oraciones, a través de Internet y en persona. ¡Muchas gracias!
¡En el Evangelio de hoy, vemos cómo Jesús muestra su fidelidad a Dios Padre con un signo de exclamación! Todos los que venden animales y cambian monedas en el templo distraen a los israelitas de la verdadera importancia del lugar. Dios está allí para encontrarse con su pueblo y no asegurarse de que tengan el animal adecuado para el sacrificio. The children and youth from St. Patrick who have been practicing and studying for First Reconciliation will receive the sacrament on Sunday, March 7 and Wednesday, March 10. Please

Operation Rice Bowls in support of Catholic Relief Services are available at the entrance of the church.
We invite you to take home a rice bowl to use at your convenience or bring your Lenten almsgiving offerings throughout Lent and place them in the purple almsgiving box in the front of
church. The money collected will be sent to the Catholic Relief Services.

x We may not worship carved idols of gold or stone in today’s world, but we definitely put other things ahead of God in our lives. What are some modern-day idols that we honor in place of God?
x The Ten Commandments offer a code for being in the right relationship with God and with other people. In what way could your relationship with God use some adjustment? In what ways do your human relationships need healing?
x The psalm this week provides a lot of imagery. Read it again, and this time, imagine some of the images that are written. Which words stood out for you — particularly adjectives and descriptive phrases? Why do you think these stood out to you at this point in your life?
x In the second reading, focus on the last two lines about the foolishness of God and the weakness of God. These are two words we do not usually hear describing God. What point do you think Paul is trying to make?
