Dios le pide a Moisés que haga un censo.En una ocasión Dios le habló a Moisés y le dijo que hiciera un censo con todos los habitantes. Para ayudar en esta tarea, Dios escogió a doce representantes, uno por cada tribu de Israel.
Estos llamados “jefes”, eran elementos importantes en la vida familiar.

La organización del censo.Moisés y los hombres que habían sido designados hicie- ron el censo. El Señor le indicó a Moisés el orden en que debían estar ubicadas las tribus. Las personas que pertenecían al pueblo de Israel se identifi caban con el nombre y la tribu a la que pertenecían y se sentían orgullosos de ella.

God asks Moses to take a census.On one occasion, God told Moses to take a census with all of the people. In order to do this, God chose 12 repre- sentatives, one from each tribe of Israel.
These so-called “bosses”
were an important element in the family.

How the census was organized.Moses and the men who were assigned took the census.
The Lord told Moses the order in which the tribes should be located. The people who belonged to the nation of Israel identifi ed with the name and tribe to which they belonged, and they were proud of it.

La distribución de las familias.Cada familia tenía que acampar junto a la bandera de su grupo. También se desplega- rían los estandartes que representaban la familia o tribu a la cual pertenecían. Moisés y sus ayudantes terminaron el censo y los israelitas se sintieron contentos de poder orga- nizarse como familia.
¡Tu apellido indica a la familia a la que pertene- ces! Debes sentirte contento de ella porque es una bendición de Dios. Tus padres son los líde- res que el Señor ha puesto para que te amen, protejan e instruyan; por eso, debes quererlos y obedecerlos.

A lesson for the people. On one occasion, the Israelites fought against the Philistines and they thought that because they had the Ark, they would win the battle, but it did not happen this way. Their enemies defeated them and not only that, but…they robbed the Ark! The people learned that it was not enough to be near the Ark in order to please the Lord and win the battles, but that they should obey His Word.Your last name indicates the family you belong to! You should feel happy about it because it is a blessing from God. Your parents are the lead- ers whom the Lord has chosen to love, protect and instruct you; therefore, you must love and obey them.
Organize the path that the Israelites followed with the Ark by writing the Letters that are next to the even numbers in order. See the example.

La promesa de Dios.Los israelitas estaban cerca de entrar a la tierra que Dios les había prometido. Llevaban muchos años viajando en el desierto sin un lugar fi jo para vivir, pero ahora,
vislumbraba a lo lejos la tierra que pronto sería de ellos.

La pregunta de Moisés.Es el momento para hablarles de la voluntad del Señor, pensó Moisés y comenzó su discurso con una interesante pregunta: “¿Qué pide Dios de ti?”.
Anteriormente, Moisés les había hablado de la importancia de obedecer a Dios; pero se quedaron en silencio, ante esta pregunta.

God’s promise.The Israelites were close to entering the land that God had promised them. They spent many years traveling in the de- sert without a permanent place to live, but now,
they could see in the distance the land that would soon be theirs.

Moses’ question.“It is the time to talk to them about the Lord’s will,” Mo- ses thought, and he began his lecture with an interesting question, “What does God require of you?”
Previously, Moses had spoken to them about the importance of obeying God, but they remained silent before this question.
Dios quiere que su pueblo viva para Él. God wants His people to live for Him.

La respuesta.Moisés siguió hablando: “Dios espera que teman su nombre, que lo respeten; que anden en sus caminos, que lo amen, le sirvan con todo su corazón y que obedez- can cada mandamiento que les ha dado. Él los escogió para que sean su pueblo”.
Para finalizar su discurso les reiteró que tuvieran temor de Dios, que lo sirvieran de
corazón y que fueran fieles a Él.
Dios amaba a su pueblo, por eso, prometió cui- darlo y defenderlo, pero había una condición; ellos debían obedecerlo. Si amas a Jesús eres parte del pueblo de Dios y las palabras de Moisés también son para practicarlas y no olvidarlas.

The answer.Moses continued speaking, “God expects you to fear His name, to respect Him, to walk in His ways, to love Him, to serve Him with all your hearts and to obey every command He has given them. He has chosen you to be His people.”
To end his lecture, he emphasized that they should fear God, serve Him with all their heart, and be faithful to Him.
God loved His people and that is why He prom- ised to take care of them and defend them, but there was one condition: they should obey Him.
If you love Jesus, you are part of God’s people and Moses’ words should be put into practice and not be forgotten.
