El Origen de esta devoción es muy antiguo.

En sus inicios, se comenzaba esta devoción con una verbena en el Jardín del Santuario.

Es un número simbólico que representa el número de estrellas impresas en el Manto de la Virgen de Guadalupe, esta devoción se conserva hasta el día de hoy. Como todo encuentro de Fe, es una práctica agradable a Dios y por su medió consta que se han alcanzado muchos favores. Esta venerable tradición enlaza el mes de octubre, dedicado al Santo Rosario, a partir del día 28, con la fiesta de Santa María de Guadalupe el 12 de diciembre hasta sumar cuarenta y seis Rosarios.

Los invitamos a participar en los 46 Rosarios, iniciaron el 28 de octubre a las 5:00 pm y terminaran el día 12 de diciembre.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

GOSPEL MEDITATION -

We often come to life expecting all of the pieces of the puzzle to nicely fit together.

We want and expect harmony, order, and fairness, the achievement of rewards for good behavior, good health, and happiness. We can more easily accept death when it comes naturally after a good long life, but have a real difficulty comprehending the meaning of it all when it is cut short.

Willing to put in a good measure of effort, we desire positive results. When things go wrong and life gets hurtful, unjust, and downright ugly, we become unsettled and can quickly fall into despair.

This is especially true if we are people of faith who believe in a God who sees things on our terms and works in favor of our life agenda. What happens to our faith when we find ourselves sitting in a mess?

Does it help to know that God understands and that hardship, failure, disappointment, injustice, confusion, and all of life’s ugliness do not make faith irrelevant or irrational?

God is wonderfully and surprising creative! He turns the tables on not only our understanding of life, but of what it means to be a king. God sends us a king who is not exempt from life’s ills but embraces them.

The king that God gives to us knows what it means to be poor, suffer insults, be ridiculed, face rejection, endure suffering, be betrayed, and face a most unjust and horrific death. This is our king. Jesus is not a king of prestige or grandeur but a king who brings light to darkness, hope to despair, sinners to mercy, and new life out of death. Christ dances before us pleading with us to hold on, cling to love, avoid being negative, stop feeling cheated, and be strong in faith!

There may be hardship and disappointment now but there are more surprises to come. Once we understand this truth, we will also understand that we are on a most incredible and awesome universal journey to Christ and becoming one in Christ.

We all carry within us the image of God, the image of our suffering king. The One who lives in us also lives in all of our brothers and sisters. Failing to see this universal Divine Presence in all is one of the greatest mistakes we can make, for we also fail to see God, our king, as well. There are many things that can bring hardship to life. If we keep our head about us and do not lose hope,

we can persevere and strive for the greatest degree of justice possible. Even though there are ample things that can challenge our faith, we also know that our deepest joy comes from union with God and our brothers and sisters.

One day, the fullness of that joy will be ours to have when we are all eternally one with Christ our King forever.

LIVE THE LITURGY -

God is wonderfully and surprisingly creative! He turns the tables on our understanding of what it means to be a king by sending us a king who embraces poverty, insults, suffering, ridicule, rejection, and even death. This is our king. Jesus is not the king of prestige or grandeur but the king who brings light to darkness, hope to despair, sinners to mercy, and new life out of death. God dances on, around, in and through all of the silliness and ugliness of the world bringing all of creation to the eternal dance of new life and hope.

Whether we accept it now or hope that we one day do, Christ is king of the universe. Christ is the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. Every human being, even those who scorned and rejected him and failed to see him in the least of our brothers and sisters will look upon him. Only those who understand truth will understand that we are on this awesome universal journey to Christ.

It is a journey of surprises but also a journey of enlightenment when we will one day see and experience with the deepest joy our being in Christ. We will be restless until we are all one day together united in Christ our King.

EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP - Long Live the King

Did you know that you can become royalty, for the right price? It’s true —

for the low, low cost of $50, you, too, can purchase a 12-square-inch souvenir plot of Scottish land and call yourself “Laird So-and-so.” Now, this lordship or ladyship doesn’t come with the ability to boss anyone around, but maybe your friends will be impressed enough to bend the knee.

My point is, we’ve all got our own little fiefdoms — folks or communities for which we have a feeling of responsibility. Maybe we’re not their “king,” but most of us have those we think of as “our people.”

Now, in this world, people lay themselves down for their kings. History is riddled with the bodies of men, young and old — and plenty of women and children, too — who were casualties of wars waged by men in power, men who never had to shed their own blood. But in the next world, the King dies for his people.

This is leadership par excellence — the leadership of someone whose love is greater than his ambition. We are all leaders of a sort. On the parish level, you have the obvious roles — serving on pastoral council, spearheading the capital campaign, leading the Altar Guild.

But you also have the quiet ones who lead from the wings — the janitor who can always be relied upon to do his job, or the volunteer librarian who puts in extra hours on the weekends. There is a saying — find your people.

I say, find your people, and find a way to lay yourself down for them, in imitation of the greatest King that ever was.

VIVIR LA LITURGIA—

¡Dios es maravillosa y sorprendentemente creativo!

Él cambia las tornas en nuestra comprensión de lo que significa ser un rey al enviarnos un rey que abraza la pobreza, los insultos, el sufrimiento, el ridículo, el rechazo e incluso la muerte. Este es nuestro rey. Jesús no es el rey de prestigio o grandeza,

sino el rey que trae la luz a las tinieblas, la esperanza a la desesperación, los pecadores a la misericordia y una nueva vida de la muerte.

Dios danza sobre, alrededor, en y a través de todas las necedades y la fealdad del mundo, llevando a toda la creación a la danza eterna de nueva vida y esperanza. Ya sea que lo aceptemos ahora o esperemos que algún día lo hagamos, Cristo es el rey del universo.

Cristo es el alfa y el omega, el principio y el fin. Todo ser humano, incluso aquellos que lo despreciaron y rechazaron y no lo vieron en el más pequeño de nuestros hermanos y hermanas, lo mirarán. Solo aquellos que entienden la verdad comprenderán que estamos en este asombroso viaje universal hacia Cristo.

Es un camino de sorpresas, pero también un camino de iluminación cuando un día veremos y experimentaremos con la más profunda alegría nuestro ser en Cristo. Estaremos inquietos hasta que estemos todos un día juntos unidos en Cristo nuestro Rey.

LA CORRESPONSABILIDAD DIARIA - ¡Viva Cristo Rey!

¿Sabías que puedes convertirte en miembro de la realeza por un justo precio?

Es cierto: por el bajo, bajo costo de $ 50, tu también puedes comprar una parcela de recuerdo de 12 pulgadas cuadradas de tierras escocesas y llamarte a ti mismo "Lord Fulano de tal".

Ahora bien, este señorío o señoría no viene con la capacidad de mandar a nadie a tu alrededor, pero tal vez tus amigos estén lo suficientemente impresionados como para doblar la rodilla. Mi punto es que todos tenemos nuestros propios pequeños feudos: personas o comunidades por las que tenemos un sentimiento de responsabilidad. Tal vez no seamos su "rey" pero la mayoría de nosotros tenemos a quienes consideramos "nuestra gente." Ahora, en este mundo, la gente se entrega por sus reyes.

La historia está plagada de cuerpos de hombres, jóvenes y viejos, y también de muchas mujeres y niños, que fueron víctimas de guerras libradas por hombres en el poder; hombres que nunca tuvieron que derramar su propia sangre.

Pero en el próximo mundo, el Rey muere por su pueblo. Este es el liderazgo por excelencia: el liderazgo de alguien cuyo amor es más grande que su ambición. Todos somos líderes de algún tipo. A nivel parroquial, tienes los roles obvios: servir en el consejo pastoral, encabezar la campaña capital, liderar la Hermandad del Altar.

Pero también tienes a los tranquilos que lideran desde las alas: el conserje en el que siempre se puede confiar para hacer su trabajo, o el bibliotecario voluntario que dedica horas extra los fines de semana. Hay un dicho: encuentra a tu gente.

Yo digo, encuentra a tu gente y encuentra la manera de entregarte por ellos, a imitación del Rey más grande que jamás haya existido.

MEDITACIÓN EVANGÉLICO

Como confirmación de las palabras de Jesús del domingo pasado de que su Palabra nunca pasará, hoy el libro de Daniel nos muestra otra forma de ver la realeza de Cristo desde siempre:

“Se le dio el poder, la gloria y la realeza, y todos los pueblos, naciones y lenguas lo sirvieron. Su poder es el poder eterno que nunca pasará; su reino no será destruido” (Daniel 7:14). Y el libro del Apocalipsis lo revela así:

“Y de parte de Cristo Jesús, el testigo fiel, el primer nacido de entre los muertos, el rey de reyes de la tierra.

Él nos ama y por su sangre nos ha purificado de nuestros pecados, haciendo de nosotros un reino y una raza de sacerdotes de Dios, su Padre” (Apocalipsis 1:5-6). Esta Solemnidad de Cristo Rey fundamenta su amor y radica en los corazones de todos los que le aman.

Desde la Cruz vence a la muerte y al pecado. Desde ahí nos libera y nos salva. Desde la cruz nos invita a un reino de servicio y amor hacia los pobres, hacia los sin voz. Él es el dueño total de todo y de todos.

Él es la plenitud de la verdad y la vida, todo fue creado por Él y para Él. El reino de Cristo brota desde la Cruz.

Y eso es lo que explica a Pilato después de su interrogatorio: “Tú lo has dicho: yo soy Rey. Yo doy testimonio de la verdad, y para esto he venido al mundo. Todo el que está del lado de la verdad escucha mi voz” (Juan 18:37-38). Santa Benedicta de la Cruz decía: “Enamorarse de Dios es el mayor romanticismo; buscarlo, la aventura más grande; encontrarlo, el mayor logro”.

Busquemos enamorarnos del Crucificado. ¡Viva Cristo Rey del universo!
