Cuarto Domingo de Cuaresma 14 de marzo del 2021
Cuarto Domingo de Cuaresma
Ya hemos pasado la mitad de la cuaresma. ¿Qué frutos hemos sacado de ella? ¡Tenemos "empo todavía! Como bau"zados, podemos ver la luz que viene de Dios, pasando la ceguera que nos nubla, y nos hace ir de tropiezo en tropiezo. Busquemos la luz que da sen"do a nuestras vidas y no sigamos caminando como ciegos de nacimiento. La conversión, sólo se logra, si uno reconoce que no ve o que la visión está equivocada. Aprovechemos para meditar las lecturas de hoy que nos invitan a buscar una visión nueva, una luz nueva, que Dios nos ofrece por medio de
Jesucris-to, el Señor.
“Primera lectura I Sam 16, 1b.6-7.10-13 (Samuel unge a David como rey)
El relato de la unción de David, como Rey de Israel, nos recuerda que Jesús, siendo Hijo de Dios, también es hijo de David. Pero David, es escogido por Dios mismo. El envía al profeta Samuel
para que lo unja con aceite y así sea reconocido por el pueblo; no a su persona como tal, sino al Espíritu de Dios que ha de manifes-tarse en el rey David. Escuchemos.
Segunda lectura Ef 5, 8-14 (Caminen como hijos de la luz)
En esta segunda lectura, San Pablo nos invita a estar despiertos, para vivir como hijos de la luz, dándonos las herramientas para lo-grarlo. Meditemos profundamente en la voz de Jesús que nos dice “Yo soy la luz del mundo, el que me sigue tendrá luz y vida”. Escu-chemos.
Evangelio Jn. 9,1-41 (El ciego de nacimiento)
Para meditar profundamente este Evangelio, debemos observar las reacciones de la gente frente al milagro de sanar a un ciego de nacimiento. ¡Qué prontos somos para juzgar y condenar!: “¿Quién pecó?”. Jesús se manifiesta y se proclama como Hijo de Dios al devolverle la vista a este ciego de nacimiento, y todo, “para la gloria de Dios” Catholic.net
En el Plan Reconciliador de Dios, San José tuvo un papel esencial: Dios le encomendó la gran
responsabilidad y privilegio de ser el padre adoptivo del Niño Jesús y de ser esposo virginal de la
Vir-gen María. San José, el santo custodio de la Sagrada Familia, es el santo que más cerca está de Jesús y
de la Santísima de la Virgen María.
San Mateo (1,16) llama a San José el hijo de Jacob; según San Lucas (3,23), su padre era Helí.
Proba-blemente nació en Belén, la ciudad de David del que era descendiente. Al comienzo de la historia de
los Evangelios (poco antes de la Anunciación), San José vivía en Nazaret.
Según San Mateo 13,55 y Marcos 6,3, San José era un "tekton". La palabra significa en particular que
era carpintero o albañil. San Justino lo confirma, y la tradición ha aceptado esta interpretación.
Nuestro Señor Jesús fue llamado "Hijo de José", "el carpintero" (Jn 1,45; 6,42; Lc 4,22).
Como sabemos no era el padre natural de Jesús, quién fue engendrado en el vientre virginal de la Virgen María por obra del
Espíritu Santo y es Hijo de Dios, pero José lo adoptó amorosamente y Jesús se sometió a él como un buen hijo ante su
pa-dre. ¡Cuánto influenció José en el desarrollo humano del niño Jesús! ¡Qué perfecta unión existió en su ejemplar matrimonio
con María!
Oración: San José, casto esposo de la Virgen María;
intercede para obtenerme el don de la pureza -Tú que a pesar de tus inseguridades personales,
supiste aceptar dócilmente el Plan de Dios tan pronto supiste de él,
ayúdame a tener esa misma actitud para responder siempre y en todo lugar a lo que el Señor me pida.Varón prudente, que
no te apegas a las seguridades humanas, sino que siempre estuviste abierto a responder a lo inesperado, obténme el auxilio
del divino Espíritu para que viva yo también
en prudente desasimiento de las seguridades terrenales.Modelo de celo, de trabajo constante, de fidelidad silenciosa, de
pa-ternal solicitud, obténme esas bendiciones para que pueda crecer cada día más en ellas y así asemejarme, día a día, al
mode-lo de la plena humanidad: el Señor Jesús.

John 9:1-41 (shorter form: John 9:1,6-9,13-17,34-38)
Jesus heals the man born blind and reveals himself to him as the Son of Man.
In today’s Gospel, the healing of the man born blind invites
us to focus on the physical and spiritual aspects of sight and
light. In the first part of today’s Gospel, we hear Jesus’
re-sponse to a prevalent belief of his time: that misfortune and
disability were the result of sin. That belief is why Jesus is
asked the question of whose sin caused the man’s
blind-ness—his own or his parents’. Jesus does not answer directly,
but instead gives the question an entirely different
dimen-sion—through this man’s disability, God’s power will be made manifest. Jesus then heals the
man.
The healing is controversial because Jesus heals on the Sabbath. The Pharisees, the religious
au-thorities of Jesus’ time, understood that the law of Moses forbade work (including healing) on the
Sabbath. They also have trouble believing that Jesus performed a miracle. To determine whether
the man was really born blind, the Pharisees question him and his parents. The man challenges
the leaders of the synagogue about their assessment of the good that Jesus has done. In turn, they
expel the man for questioning their judgment.
The final revelation and moment of enlightenment comes when the man born blind encounters
Jesus again. Having heard the news of his expulsion, Jesus seeks out the man born blind and
re-veals himself to him as the Son of Man. In this moment, the man born blind shows himself to be a
man of faith and worships Jesus. Jesus replies by identifying the irony of the experience of many
who encounter Jesus: Those who are blind will now see, and those who think they now see will
be found to be blind.

Second Scrutiny
Today our catechumens celebrate the second scrutiny in our RCIA process. Earlier in the week they each
received a copy of the Creed that we all profess each Sunday. Let us pray with them as they ponder the
deep confessional truths in our creed as they look forward to the Easter Vigil.
Let us pray.
We confess our faith in you,
our One and eternal Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We pray today for our catechumens who have received the gift of faith and now reflection on the Creed.
May they trust in the truth of Christ as they find freedom from sin. We know that we must model for them what it means to live for Christ. Help us and our neighbors to profess the faith
in our actions and thoughts. Give wisdom to our catechumens
to persevere in faith even when it is difficult. We ask this and profess our faith in you, God and Father with the Holy Spirit. Amen.
