DOMINGO XX DEL TIEMPO ORDINARIO
Queridos hermanos y hermanas la Palabra de Dios es viva y eficaz, y cuando la leemos, meditamos, oramos y vivimos crecemos en profundidad en nues- tra fe.
Una expresión que ya la hemos escuchado en otro texto bíblico: «Ten compasión de mí, Señor, Hijo de David”, es oración confiada de una mujer Cananea que, en su desesperación por ver curada a su hija, no le importa aceptar, aunque sea las migajas. Esta actitud de fe logra que Jesús le atienda y realice su deseo, es mas el mismo Jesús le dirige unas pala- bras de reconocimiento «Mujer, qué grande es tu fe:
que se cumpla lo que deseas.»
¿Que nos dice a nosotros hoy este texto del evange- lio según San Mateo?
¿Es para ti la oración una necesidad vital? La oración nos pone en contacto con Jesús y en ese dialogo personal tenemos la posibilidad de expresarle lo que hay en lo profundo de nuestro ser: agradecimiento, necesidad, mie- do, pobreza…etc, pero este acercamiento a Él debe estar marcado por una profunda hu- mildad, un total abandono, una fe incondicio- nal, la mujer cananea es un vivo ejemplo.
La fe implica movimiento, no se trata de cruzarse de brazos; sino hacer todo lo que esta en nuestras manos, lo demás dejárselo a Dios.
¿Que pedimos en la oración?, Puede pasarnos que pedimos y no se nos concede lo que deseamos y culpamos a Dios de estar sordo y no escucharnos. Al orar es necesario invo- car la presencia del Espíritu Santo para que sea el quien ore a través de nosotros, que mueva lo mas intimo de nuestro ser y nos ilumine a pedir no lo que queremos sino lo que necesitamos. En el Padrenuestro deci- mos “hágase tu voluntad”, que seamos cons- cientes de esto que decimos, porque al final de cuentas Dios que sabe lo que realmente necesitamos nos concederá lo que nos con- viene.

20th Sunday in Ordinary Time
We are hardwired for wholeness and crave it. When something is broken, we want it fixed. If a part of our body is not working properly, we want it healed.
How often do we find ourselves saying, “I’m tired of struggling with this cold, I can’t wait for my surgery to heal, or I want my treatments to make me better.”
Wholeness and healing restore our relationships and make us free to love as we desire. We know very well how our limitations, imperfections, and brokenness really limit us. They can easily prevent us from being and doing what we want to do.
Our physical and emotional wounds and maladies are easier to identify. If my back hurts, I feel it and know what part of my body needs attention. If I am feeling intense anger, I can identify the emotion and take necessary steps to uncover its cause. Being persistent often brings greater and quicker results.
But will pursuing and even achieving our physical and emotional healings really be enough? We forget that there is a deeper healing that we seek and des- perately need. As we look around at humanity, there are some physical and emotional wounds and scars that cannot be made whole. They are limitations that must remain and, for one reason or another, cannot be rectified. Does this mean that the wholeness and healing that my being longs for is not possible for me? Must I settle with less than what God promis- es?
The answer is no. Ultimately, there is a desire that goes deeper than the physical and emotional. It is a desire that resides in our soul. What we really seek and thirst for is healing and wholeness for our soul.
Inner strength, conviction, focus, grounding, love, hope, faith, courage, determination, peace, and con- nectedness are all words that center us on eternity.
They direct us to a presence we discover in our core, which is none other than the presence of God.
In God, we are healed. When we are persistent in reaching out to and establishing our relationship with God, real healing and wholeness begin to hap- pen.
There are some limitations and some of our broken- ness with which we may simply have to live. This does not mean that we have to abandon our journey to wholeness and healing. If we have done our inner soul work, we have worked toward and acquired what and who we ultimately need and desire.

WHAT DOES SPIRITUAL COMMUNION MEAN?
Spiritual communion consists of telling Jesus Christ how much we want to receive him in our hearts. Unlike sacramental communion, it is an act of desire, but one that effectively
contributes to fan us the thirst for God and disposes us to receive him.
Steps to make a spiritual communion
Enliven the memory of Christ the Eucharist and express to him our ardent desire to receive him.
An act of faith puts us in the presence of Christ with the desire to be with him because we love and need him. We expressly tell him that we would like to receive him in
sacramental communion, but that, being unable to do so, we ask him to come spiritually into our hearts.
Prayer of San Alfonso María de Liguorio:
I believe, my Jesus, that You are in the Blessed Sacrament; I love you above all things and I wish to receive you in my soul. Since I cannot do it sacramentally now, come at least
spiritually to my heart.
After a pause of loving silence, it con nues: and now, as if I had already received You, I embrace You and unite myself to You. Lord, don't let me ever separate from you.
Warning:
Although spiritual communion is an extremely fruitful practice to advance on our path of holiness, it cannot replace sacramental communion. Participation in the Eucharistic celebration and sacramental communion, hopefully daily, is vital to the life of the Christian.
QUE SIGNIFICA LA COMUNION ESPIRITUAL?
La comunión espiritual consiste en decirle a Jesucristo cuánto deseamos recibirle en nuestro corazón. A dife- rencia de la comunión sacramental, es un acto del de- seo, pero que contribuye eficazmente a avivar en noso- tros la sed de Dios y nos dispone a recibirlo.
Pasos para hacer una comunión espiritual Avivar la memoria de Cristo Eucaristía y manifestarle el ardiente deseo que tenemos de recibirle.
- Un acto de fe nos pone en la presencia de Cristo con el deseo de estar con Él porque le amamos y le necesita- mos. Le decimos expresamente que desearíamos reci- birle en la comunión sacramental, pero que, no pudiendo hacerlo, le pedimos que venga espiritualmente a nuestro corazón.
Oración de San Alfonso María de Ligorio:
Creo, Jesús mío, que estás en el Santísimo Sacramento;
te amo sobre todas las cosas y deseo recibirte en mi alma. Ya que ahora no puedo hacerlo sacramentalmen- te, ven al menos espiritualmente a mi corazón.
Tras una pausa de silencio amoroso se prosigue: y ahora, como si ya te hubiese recibido, te abrazo y me uno todo a Ti. No permitas, Señor, que jamás me separe de ti.
Advertencia:
Aunque la comunión espiritual es una práctica suma-
mente fecunda para avanzar en nuestro camino de santi-
dad, no puede suplir la comunión sacramental. La parti-
cipación en la celebración eucarística y la comunión sa-
cramental, ojalá diaria, es vital para la vida del cristiano.
LIFE OF HOLY CHILDREN ... BLESSED IMELDA LAMBERTINI
She was born in Bologna in 1333. Very early attracted by religious life, Imelda asked to enter the Dominicans when she was 9 years old. His parents were surprised, but seeing his devotion and love for God, they allowed him to live in the nearby monastery. There she was allowed to wear the Dominican habit and follow the life- style of the sisters.
Her greatest desire was to receive Jesus in the Eucharist, but at that time the age to receive Communion was 14. However, she persisted and said: "Can someone receive Jesus in their heart and not die?"
Again she was denied, but after the Ascension feast, Imelda was seen kneeling in the church in front of a host suspended in midair. The priest, looking at the miracle, saw it as a sign and gave Imelda her First Communion.
With a smile on her face, Imelda died moments later. He was only 11 years old. The day of her feast is May 13 and she is the patroness of those who receive First Communion.
VIDA DE SANTOS NIÑOS… BEATA IMELDA LAMBERTINI
Nació en Bolonia en el 1333. Atraída muy pronto por la vida religiosa, Imelda pidió entrar a las do- minicas cuando tenía 9 años. Sus padres estaban sorprendidos, pero viendo la devoción y el amor a Dios que tenía, le permitieron vivir en el cercano monasterio. Allí se le permitió llevar el hábito do- minico y seguir el estilo de vida de las hermanas.
Su mayor anhelo era recibir a Jesús en la Eucaristía, pero en aquel momento la edad para recibir la Co- munión era 14. Sin embargo, ella persistió y di- jo: «¿Puede alguien recibir a Jesús en su corazón y no morir?».
Otra vez se le denegó, pero después de la fiesta de la Ascensión, Imelda fue vista arrodillada en la iglesia frente a una hostia suspendida en el aire. El sacerdote, mirando el milagro, lo vio como un signo y le dio a Imelda su Primera Comunión.
Con una sonrisa en su rostro, Imelda murió mo- mentos después. Sólo tenía 11 años. El día de su fiesta es el 13 de mayo y es la patrona de los que reciben la Primera Comunión .
