Additional limitations are related to the outcome of the evaluation in previous calls (see table below). The initial allocation of the proposal to a panel will take place based on the preference expressed by the applicant.
C score - is not of sufficient quality to proceed to step 2 of the evaluation (see previous footnote). The first part of the interview will be devoted to a presentation on the main features of the research project by the PI.

- SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION
Person responsible for the proposal (Principal Investigator): on this page there is a new field on the 'career stage' of the PI. A description and justification of the resources must be given in the text box (Section C. Resources) under the budget table. Specify the goals of the proposal in the context of the latest in the research area.
PLEASE NOTE: Budget and resource information is no longer part of Part B2. The resource text box (below the budget table) should provide a clear description and rationale of the proposed budget. Any costs requested from the additional funding must be necessary for the implementation of the proposed research activities.
Be sure to update "Requested EU Contribution" if updates are made in any of the cost categories. The host institution's letter of support - As the applicant's legal entity, HI must confirm its support for the project and PI. The template letter is part of the zip file available in the submission system (see Appendix 4.2).
Please note that the ethics self-assessment is included in section 4 of the online proposal submission form.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
HOW TO APPLY
Guidance on completing the administrative forms can be found directly in the form as ghost text for the individual entries or as additional help text hidden behind question marks. Some parts of the form are pre-filled based on the data entered during pre-registration or in the beneficiary register. Unless otherwise indicated in the call, embedded materials and other documents (company brochures, scientific articles, reports, audio, video, multimedia, etc.) sent electronically or by post to the ERCEA or uploaded directly into the F&T portal will be excluded from taken into consideration.
Completing the Proposal submission forms in the submission system and uploading all the necessary files does not mean that your proposal has been submitted (mandatory files: Part B1, Part B2, PhD certificate, Host Institution support letter and – if applicable: supporting documentation for eligibility extension and/or ethics and security issues). Within a few minutes of submission, your proposal will be available for download with an e-receipt in the system. The mail may end up in the spam folder or be blocked by the anti-spam system of your organization.
The proposal must be submitted before the relevant call deadline to the relevant primary ERC committee (i.e. the committee covering the main scientific areas of the proposed research). Warning: Please note that in the last hours before the end of the tender, the possibility of downloading to verify the submitted proposal may be disabled due to high pressure on the system. If the e-certificate and download options have been disabled, you can review your submitted proposal by going back to step 5 and checking the information in the administrative forms and clicking "View History" to see which attachments have been uploaded.

HOST INSTITUTION SUPPORT LETTER TEMPLATE 2022
If such violations or allegations occur, you must verify and pursue them and bring them to the attention of the Agency. 43 The European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity for ALLEA (All European Academies) and ESF (European Science Foundation) of March 2011. IMPORTANT NOTE: For completeness, all the above points are mandatory and must be included in the commitment of the host institution.
PHD AND EQUIVALENT DOCTORAL DEGREES
A first degree in medicine alone will not be accepted as equivalent to a doctorate. Applicants who hold a medical degree must submit certificates of medical degree and doctorate, or proof of an appointment requiring doctoral equivalency (eg, postdoctoral fellowship, professorial appointment) to be considered an eligible principal investigator. In these cases, the confirmed date of completion of the medical degree plus two years is the reference date of the actual award used to calculate the eligibility period specified for the starter and consolidator grants in the Eligible Principal Investigator(s) section of the ERC Work Program 2022.
For applicants who have both a degree in medicine and a PhD, the date used for calculating the eligibility period (ie medical degree plus two years or PhD award date) is the date of the earliest degree the applicant is eligible for come. A PI who was awarded a degree in medicine in 2007, completed clinical specialty training in 2012 and was subsequently awarded a PhD on 1 January 2017 can apply for the Starting Grant 2022- call. As the medical degree in itself is not accepted as equivalent to a PhD award, the earliest eligible degree is the PhD – awarded 5 years before 1 January 2022 and within the eligibility window (2 – 7 years after PhD).
A PI who received their medical degree on January 1, 2003, completed their clinical training in 2006, and held one or more research positions (e.g., postdoctoral fellowship or professorial appointment) before receiving their doctorate in 2016 is not eligible for both Calls for initial and consolidator grant 2022. A medical degree together with research experience gained in research positions is considered equivalent to a PhD. Therefore, the earliest eligible degree is a medical degree - awarded 19 years before 1 January 2022 and not within the eligibility period (date of medical degree + 2 years = 1 January 2005 is used to calculate the eligibility period 2 -7 years for StG and 7-12 years for CoG).
The confirmed completion date of the MD degree plus two years is the time reference for calculating the time period for eligibility, therefore 1 January 2016 is the PhD equivalence date to be entered on the application form for this applicant.
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS FOR EXTENSION REQUESTS
Supporting documents: an officially signed document56 from the employer confirming the start and end date(s) of the individual leave(s). Full-time and part-time leaves of absence, as well as reduced work capacity, may be accepted if properly documented. For the PI: an official, signed document from the employer confirming the start and end date(s) of the individual leave(s), or a medical file proving the incapacity for work with the start and end date(s) of the leave(s) period(s) of illness).
In addition, the request must be supported by an official document explaining the long-term nature of the illness or the condition of the close family member (eg from a hospital, a doctor or an insurance company). Supporting documents: document signed by the official authority with the start and end date of the service. For clinical training, an extension may be granted corresponding to the documented time of clinical training received by the PI after the award of the first eligible degree up to a maximum of 4 years (counting up to the call deadline).
Applicants whose first eligible degree is a medical degree may be admitted to clinical training from the date of completion of their medical degree. We will not accept any extension for house or hospital practitioner work unless it is part of a clinical training programme. In the case of part-time clinical training, the exact total training time will be prorated to extend the candidate's eligibility period.
55 An official document proving the PI's right to social paternity benefits can also be accepted.
