.52 caliber, 21” round barrel, two barrel bands. Walnut stock. No markings on the top of the breechblock. All metal has a nice even look with grey-to-brown staining. Stock is very good with a vague, but readable, cartouche.

784 Third Model Maynard Civil War Carbine
50 caliber, 20” octagonal-to-round barrel. Left flat is marked G.W.S. Marked on the left side of receiver Manufacture Mass Arms Co Chicopee Falls. Walnut stock. Barrel retains 80% of the original blue, turning plum.
Frame is sharp and crisp with light brown patina. Stock has mint cartouches with excellent wood.

785 Second Model Merrill Civil War Carbine
.54 caliber, 22” barrel, S/N 14804. Brass buttplate, triggerguard and band. Walnut stock. Barrel and breech are speckled with brown stains with some light pitting. Markings are nice and clear. Brass with tarnished look. Stock with some nicks and dings.

786 Percussion Carbine Rifle by Devisime
.720 bore diameter rifled with ten lands-and-grooves, 26” round barrel with rear express leaf sight. Steel ramrod, walnut stock with brass checkered buttplate, triggerguard, front barrel band. This will fire the Devisme exploding cartridge. Barrel is very sharp and crisp retaining 60% of the original brown finish just lightly thinning. Breech plug retains all of its original case colors. Rear portion of the lock retains all of the original case colors; the front portion of the lock has been cleaned to grey. Stock is excellent with some nicks and dings.

787 Model 1847 Artillery Musketoon
.60 caliber, 26” round barrel, lockplate marked with eagle and US under the bolster; in the rear Springfield and dated 1851. Walnut stock. Barrel has grey look mixing with pitting. Lock is grey-to-brown mixing with pitting.
Hammer is deep brown with some pitting. Stock was lightly cleaned and has an old repair to the left side of tang.

.52 caliber, 22” barrel, S/N 79435. Iron patchbox, barrel and frame matching serial numbers. Walnut stock and forearm. Barrel has a dark brown finish. Frame is silvery grey turning plum. Stock and forearm have some nicks and dings. Bore is very good.

791 Model 1847 Springfield Artillery Musketoon
.69 caliber, 26” round barrel. Lockplate marked with eagle US under the bolster; in the rear, Springfield. Walnut stock.
All metal is grey with salt & pepper pitting. Small piece of wood missing from burnout on the right side of tang. Stock was cleaned many years ago.

792 Model 1847 Springfield Sappers and Miners Musketoon with Original Bayonet
.69 caliber smoothbore, 26” round barrel. Marked near the breech V P, and eagle; dated 1855 on the tang. Lockplate marked with eagle over US and Springfield 1847 in the rear of the lockplate. Bayonet lug on the outside of barrel band with locking lug at muzzle. Comes with proper brass-handled bayonet. Walnut stock. Barrel and lock have been cleaned to bright with light hint of pitting. Stock has excellent lines with an old museum paint on the comb of stock “Mexico 1849.”
Stock is sharp and crisp with some nicks and dings. Bayonet blade has been plated. Brass handle has nice tarnished look.

.57 caliber, 40” round barrel, smoothbore. Three barrel bands; lock dated 1851. Walnut stock. Barrel is grey with salt and pepper pitting scattered throughout the barrel. Heavy pitting around the percussion bolster. Stock with some nicks and dings.

794 Springfield Cadet Rifle
.54 caliber, 37.5” round barrel with bayonet lug 1.25” from muzzle on the bottom of barrel; full-stock. Brass furniture; lockplate marked with eagle and US; on the rear of lockplate marked Springfield and dated 1844. This was assembled many years ago by using French cadet musket stock and a 1851 Springfield cadet musket barrel and the furniture of a model 1841 rifle and a real 1841 Springfield cadet lockplate. Looks real with the exception of the brass furniture. Stock has an old weathered look. Stock was broken in the wrist and has an old repair using nails. Barrel has been cleaned to bright. Lockplate has good markings.

796 Springfield Model 1861 Percussion Musket
.58 caliber, 40” barrel. 1861 dated lock. Fair condition with a rusty bore. The finish is a dark brown patina with patches of rust and the hammer does not lock back. The stock has many dings and scratches.

795 Model 1863 Type 11 Springfield Rifled-Musket
.58 caliber, 40” barrel. Date 1864 on the top of breech, V P and eagle on the right side of barrel at breech. Lockplate also dated 1864. Three barrel bands and walnut stock. Barrel and lock have a uniform look of brown staining throughout with sharp lines. Stock has some nicks and dings with two dim cartouches. Bore is fair; will clean to better.

797 Whitneyville Plymouth Naval Rifle
.69 caliber, 34” round barrel. Dated on the breech 1864; 9573 numbered on tang. V P and eagle on left flat at breech; on the left side is sub-inspector’s initials FCW. Lockplate marked with eagle, US Whitney-ville and date 1864 on the rear. Long range rear barrel sight. Walnut stock. All metal has been cleaned to bright. Nice sharp edges. Stock has been clean. A dim, but readable, cartouche. Excellent bore.

.58 caliber, 33” round barrel, with V P and eagle near breech, dated 1860 on the top of breech. Lockplate marked 1860 in the rear. Eagle on Maynard tape primer cover, Harpers Ferry. Two barrel bands with saber bayonet attachment. Walnut stock with iron patchbox. All metal has very sharp and crisp markings. Metal parts have been cleaned to bright with some very minute pitting on some parts. Stock is very sharp and crisp with remains of a vague cartouche.

799 Model 1863 Springfield Percussion Rifled-Musket Type II
.58 caliber, 40” round barrel with 1864 dated on the top flat. Eagle, V P on the left flat at breech. Lockplate dated 1864 and marked US Springfield.
Eagle on the flat of percussion bolster. Three barrel bands. Walnut stock. Barrel and bands have a nice even burnished bright appearance. Lockplate has a grey to brown look. All metal and markings are very sharp and crisp. Stock is excellent-to-mint with two mint cartouches on the left flat and a very nice dark red open-grained look.

800 Model 1855 Harpers Ferry Rifled-Musket
.58 caliber, 40” barrel. Dated 1858 on the top of barrel at breech; on the left side V P and eagle. Long range rear barrel sight. Lockplate dated 1858 and marked U.S. Harpers Ferry. Three barrel bands; brass nose cap; walnut stock. This is an overall excellent musket. Barrel is nice bright with sharp markings. Bands are very sharp and crisp. Lockplate is almost mint; markings are very sharp and crisp with some cosmoline staining. Stock is excellent with a crisp cartouche. Bore is bright and near mint.

801 Sharps Model 1859 Rifle
.52 caliber, 36” barrel. S/N 36651. Barrel fitted for saber bayonet with a lug on the under side of barrel. Patchbox with walnut buttstock and longer forearm to accommodate the longer barrel. Only 600 produced in the serial range of 36,000-37,000. Comes with rare type II Brass handle Saber Bayonet. Seldom encountered. Excellent overall, retaining most of the very high blue finish, with some of the finish flaking. Stock and forearm in very good condition. This is a very rare Civil War rifle. Seldom seen and always with this type of blue finish. Bayonet is very good with excellent scabbard.

.50 caliber, 21.5” octagonal-to-round barrel, S/N 20548. Receiver marked “Manufactured By Mass. Arms Co., Chicopee Falls”, “Address, Poultney &
Trimble, Baltimore, U.S.A.”, “Smith’s Patent, June 23, 1857.” Partially visible cartouche on left side of the stock where it meets the receiver. Very good condition with a very good bore with patches of pitting scattered about. The wood is good to very good with a large chip at the top of the stock where it meets the receiver.

803 English Percussion Tower Musket and Tintype of Possible Owner Isaac Thompson
.577 caliber, 33” barrel, left side of barrel 25 -25. Saber bayonet on the left side of barrel. Brass furniture with walnut stock. Lot further includes a tintype of the person who carried this rifle - possibly Isaac Thompson.
Isaac Thompson was with the 2nd Kentucky Cavalry. Following Hood’s loss of Atlanta to the Union forces in September 1864, the 2nd Kentucky cavalry became part of General Joseph Wheeler’s Cavalry unit to harass General Sherman’s army during its “March to the Sea.” These items were previously on display at a now defunct museum in Murfreesboro, Georgia. The gun is arguably part of an English shipment of guns that made its way to the Confederacy through the blockade. Rifle is in fair condition; wood shows use with a crack under the lock plate. All metal is brown and pitted. Stock is in fair condition.

807 5th Model Burnside Carbine
.54 caliber, 22” round barrel, S/N 30096. Marked on the lockplate Burnside Rifle Company, Providence RI. Walnut stock and forearm have been decorated with folk art, checkering, donkey and log cabin. All metal is grey with a light brown patina. Lockplate has been polished and begun to re-patinate. Markings are clear. Bore is good.

.577 caliber, 39” barrel with long range rear barrel sight. Contract number 25-25 marked on the left side of barrel. No markings on the buttplate.
Marked on the bottom of stock Turner. Brass furniture walnut stock with three barrel bands. Lock and hammer have untouched patina. Lines and markings are sharp and crisp. Stock is excellent with some nicks and dings. Bore is very good.

Bands have nice bright finish. Lock and hammer with light brown patina. Stock has a used look with some nicks and dings. A dim cartouche. Bore is fair will clean to very good.

809 Percussion Half-Stock Rifle
.30 caliber, 32.5” octagonal barrel, end of muzzle turned round for a loader, S/N 6. Markings on top of barrel “Riley Haskell, Painsville, O. 1858.” Front lock has floral etching with “R. Haskell.” Hammer has floral etching. Wedged retained barrel with brass furniture. Walnut stock, pewter tip, 2 ferules with ram rod, and German silver escutcheons. The gunsmith also made fishing lures and was the maker of the $100,000 Haskell fishing lure. This is an early S/N and uncommon. The barrel retains 50% of light original browning. The stock retains 95% of original finish. Brass furniture has a yellow patina with a little peppered pitting. Very good condition.

.69 caliber rifled, 40” barrel with rear sight on the breech plug. Belgian proofs on the barrel. Three barrel bands, walnut stock. All metal has untouched dark brown patina. Some pitting on the percussion bolster. Bore is very good. Stock has nice untouched patina with some nicks and dings.

811 Frontier Spencer Sporting Rifle
.462 bore diameter with smooth bore, 30” barrel, S/N 1828. This Spencer was made from a military carbine with a specially period-crafted trick lever trigger and cut away action. Walnut buttstock and forearm with German silver diamond plate near buttplate and has a Spencer rear rifle site. The frame, hammer, back lock, trigger and triggerguard have a peppered pitting blending to a dark patina. Finish on barrel has a nice even dark patina. Stock has nicks and dings, but retains some of the varnish. Overall very good condition.
