Iesous, the great Teacher, has introduced us to types and antitypes between the Old and New Covenants. “An evil ... generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah” (Mt 12.39). Jonah was the type, and the Lord Iesous was the antitype. As we can readily see, this statement was limited to the period until Iesous’ (Jesus’) death and resurrection. Chapter 24 of Matthew, is full of signs to be observed after the Savior’s resurrection (AD 32), and before the resurrection of Israel (AD 77). Iesous continues His lesson in typology, “But as the days of Noah were so also will the coming of the Son of man be” (Mt 24.37). Noah was the type, and Iesous was the antitype.

“The day of the Lord” (Rev 1.10) represents the first year of the war with Rome (AD 66/67). One Day equals “one year” in prophecy sometimes; and also, this is the antitype to the flood of Noah. “The coming of the Son of man” is as a flood. Continuing our lesson in typology, the apostle Paul specifies,

“The first Adam ... The last Adam” (1Cor 14.45). Adam was the type, and the Anointed Iesous was the antitype. And we have many more examples, but this is sufficient.

What we will attempt to do is to confirm the antitypes to the Ten (typical) Plagues on Egypt in 1626 BC. Our observations will all be from the New Covenant Scriptures. So then, let us have at it -- type and antitype.

1) TYPE. “.. waters in river turned to blood” - Ex 7.20.

Although these antitypes are easily detected in the New Covenant, nevertheless, they are anachronistic, or out of order. However, the parallel good messages [gospels] also have anachronisms to test our faith.

ANTITYPE. “And the third angel poured out the bowl of him on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood” (Rev 16.3-4).

The “believers” that Iesous is a Prophet have interpreted this to represent France’s war with all humanity (1794-99), and especially their war with Italy and the Pope. And the blood flowed freely at the battle sites, on the banks of the rivers in the Alps.

2) TYPE. “... frogs covered the land” - Ex 8.6.

ANTITYPE. “... frogs out of the mouth of the Dragon, and Beast, and False Prophet” (Rev 16.13).

Here we see an antitype. This is the division of the “great city” (Istanbul) into three parts during the First World War. (See: Rev 16.19.) The “frogs” represent “lies” by Britain (Dragon), and the Roman Catholics in Greece (Beast - see: Rev 13.5), and the Islamic Turks (False Prophet: see; Rev 16.12). Egypt was the “Dragon (Beast) in the sea” (Isa 27.1, 51.9). In this vision, Britain had declared a Protectorate over Egypt, and so, she was the Dragon by substitution. The second False Prophet, besides the Pope, was Muhammad, who is referred to here (Rev 16.13). Armageddon was shaping up, and the three liars, Britain, Greece, and Turkey, were all soliciting military support. “And frogs covered the land.”

3) TYPE. “... lice on man and beast” - Ex 8.17.

ANTITYPE. “Lice” is the plural of “louse,” which is a bloodsucker of animals and plants. “And you have given them blood to drink” (Rev 16.6).

“Them” identifies the servants of the Pope, when the “rivers became blood” (see: #1, A)

“Bloodsuckers” (lice) were on the men of Europe (Man) and the nations of Europe (Beast). France had gone “kill-crazy” and the victims were Austria, Prussia, and Italy -- all servants of the Pope. They seemed to be drinking their own blood during the great slaughter.

4) TYPE. “Swarms” (Ex 8.24).

ANTITYPE. “Now the number of the horsemen was two hundred thousand thousand” (Rev 9.16).

This would certainly qualify as a swarm. “But the rest of mankind ... did not repent ... that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold” (Rev 9.20). The fall of the Eastern Catholic Church to Muhammad II, in AD 1453, is pictured for us. The “swarms” or “horsemen” were cannons and cannonballs and powder, and fuses, and swabs, and oil, etc.; besides the troops. Two hundred million is quite a “swarm.” An army of men only is not intended, for that would be impossible in most areas of the earth.

5) TYPE. “... caused livestock to die” - Ex 9.6.

ANTITYPE. “And the merchants of earth shall weep ... over her (Babylon), for no one buys their ... cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and bodies and souls of men” (Rev 18.11, 13).

This is the fall of the Papacy and Pope (Beast and False Prophet) in AD 1860 and 1870.

“Babylon is fallen, is fallen” (18.2). When Victor Emmanuel II conquered Papal Rome, the loss of livestock is pictured figuratively as their death. The Pope lost many of his “sheep.”

How are we doing? Will the last five plagues have an antitype?

6) TYPE. “... boils on man and beast” - Ex 9.10.

ANTITYPE. “... a foul and loathsome sore came upon the men who had the Mark of the Beast”

(Rev 16.2).

The first bowl of wrath on the “Great Whore” and the “Daughter Whores” consisted of revolutions against papal monarchies, and for a Republican form of government. The American Colonies were first (1776), followed by the French (1789). The men with the “Mark” (Catholics), and the Catholic nations (Beasts), were condemned to continue in civil wars and revolutions. “A foul and loathsome sore.”

7) TYPE. “He Is (

hwhy

) rained hail on the land” - Ex 9.23.

ANTITYPE. “Then the temple of God was opened ... And there were .. an Earthquake, and great Hail” (Rev 11.19).

The Second Woe ended with the fall of Babylon in “one day” (Rev 18.8), and this verse (Rev 11.19) describes the Third Woe, the fall of Babylon in “one hour” (Rev 18.10). The Pope lost the kingdom of Italy in 1860, and the “great city” of Papal Rome in 1870. “The Hail struck man and Beast,”

Catholic soldiers and the Papacy.

8) TYPE. “And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt” - Ex 10.14.

ANTITYPE. “Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth” (Rev 9.3).

The expositors of God are in agreement that this was the Arab Expansion of Five Months (632-782), resulting in the conquering of Roman Catholic territories. “The locusts ate herbs and fruit of trees”

(Ex 10.15). In prophecy, a “Tree” is a King; as Iesous is the Tree of Life. See: Judges 9.7-19. The Fruit of the Tree (King) is his subjects, and his territory. The locusts ate “Fruit of Trees” (subjects of Kings).

“Locusts were over all the land.”

9) TYPE. “... darkness three days” - Ex 10.22.

ANTITYPE. “... bowl on the throne of the Beast, and his kingdom became full of darkness” (Rev 16.10).

Symbols in prophecy vary in their meanings, in order to keep you on the alert, and to peak your

interest. (Many vain fellows have written that every symbol has only one definition.)

A) The 2300 Days in Daniel are literal, twenty-four hour days. Although 24 hour days are intended, nevertheless, a multiplier of “38” is necessary to reach the end of the prophecy, which was the resurrection, in AD 77. “2300 Days” X 38 = from 167 BC to AD 77.

B) The 1260 Days in Revelation are “one day” for “one year,” or 1260 years. The encyclopedias all confirm this fact. 42 Months is: AD 600-1860.

C) The “three and one-half days” (Rev 11.11) are “double-amplified.” (1) Each “day” equals

“one year.” (2) Then each “year” has “360 days” in prophecy, and so, “three and one-half years” equals

“1260 days.” (3) Then we double-amplify the “1260 days” to equal “1260 years.” This is one of several examples of “double-amplification.” The 42 Months at the beginning of Chapter Eleven, and the “three and one-half days” at the end of the chapter are referring to the same time period. All attempts to interpret three and one-half years at the end of the chapter literally have resulted in confusion and shame.

The Matthew Poole Commentary reads that “some” agree with this conclusion.

D) The “7 years” (Eze 39.9) refers to “21 years,” being from the first fall of Babylon, in 539, until the second fall, in 518. [539 BC - 518 = 21 Years.] The practice of “multipliers” is introduced into prophecy, and though there is a direct ratio of prophetic to literal years, they are increased by some

“multiplier.”

E) The “7 months” (Eze 39.12) also employs a “multiplier.” This is figurative for the Lord Iesous

“confirming the covenant with many for one week” (7 Years). [7 Months = AD 28-35.]

In light of this, concerning our present problem of “three days of darkness,” we look for a number divisible by three, and then assign a value for the “three days of darkness.” Pope Pius IX had resigned himself to the loss of the kingdom of Italy, and issued a “Non expedit” decree; meaning “It is not expedient.” The Pope advised the church to stay out of the government, and not to do business with them. He proclaimed himself “The prisoner of the Vatican.” This policy began with the Ecumenical Council (1869-70), later entitled “Vatican I.” Pope Pius XI began to rule Feb. 6, 1922 with a different outlook. He declared his intention to “be active in, not insulated from, society.” This policy resulted in the Lateran Treaty of Feb 11, 1929. The Treaty reads:

“The Holy See recognized the kingdom of Italy, with Rome as its capital, and the new state of Vatican City ... created under sovereignty of the Pope. A financial settlement indemnified the church for loss of revenue ...”

Negotiations were attempted with Pope Pius IX, and he refused to listen. The “three days of darkness” were (AD 1869-1929), equaling “60 years.” Therefore “one day” equaled “20 years.” Do you see how exact the Prophet Iesous was in AD 67? Who can doubt Him?

10) TYPE. Feast of Passover, firstborn die - Ex 12.29.

ANTITYPE. The First Resurrection (Rev 20.4-6) was the souls of the martyrs, “who have not received the Mark of the Beast on* the Foreheads (minds) of them.”

Over such the Second Death, or the resurrection at the end of the world “has no power.” As the Israelites put the blood of the paschal lamb on the doorpost so that the Death Angel would “pass over”

them, in like manner the servants of God were “sealed on the Foreheads (minds) of them with the Holy Spirit of promise.” This resurrection is described to have taken place before the first bowl of wrath in AD 1776. They are on “a Sea of Glass mingled with fire,” and are those “who have the victory over the Beast” (Rev 15.2). The resurrection in AD 77 was on “a Sea of Glass, like crystal” (Rev 4.6). The difference in the Sea, “mingled with fire,” represents their martyrdom. The First Resurrection (Rev 15.2) preceded the first bowl of wrath in AD 1776, which was the American Colonies’ revolution followed by the French Revolution (1789). Here is the fate of their enemies, many of whom participated in their murders:

“If anyone ... receives his Mark on [Conscience] of the (tou) Forehead** (mind) of him ... he himself shall also drink the wine of the wrath of the God (tou Qeou)...” - Rev 14.9-10.

NOTES * & **: Compare: “on Forehead (Mind)” (Rev 20.4) with: “on [Conscience} of the Forehead” (Rev 14.9). Jeremiah wrote, “Put the law of Me in the Minds of them (New Jerusalem)” (Jer 31.33). In my opinion both phrases refer to controlling the mind, and not tattooing the Forehead, as the Pope teaches.

This typifies the death of the firstborn of Egypt without the blood of the lamb. Specifically, in this place, it is those with the “Mark of the Beast” (Papacy).

And these are the Ten Plagues on spiritual Egypt which were similar to those of physical Egypt.

This is to build up your faith in Iesous, our Lord.
