2– August 1, 2021 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time My Dear Family;
My heart is filled with joy and gratitude for the wonderful experience of last weekend’s Country Fest. It was a grace-filled example of the dedication and vibrancy of our parish. I was delighted, as your pastor, to join in this beautiful event with everyone working, playing and breaking bread together across ages, families, languages and backgrounds.
In last weekend’s Gospel, we saw Jesus multiply the loaves and fishes to satisfy the hunger of the multitude. Then, right here at St. Patrick’s, we witnessed how God multiplied the joy of all, through everyone’s generous giving of their time and talent. There was even joy left over to carry us through the weeks ahead! I want to sincerely thank the leaders, staff, volunteers and all who participated to make this a successful event. I look forward to many more Country Fests in the years ahead.
This week’s Gospel once again talks about nourishment and satisfaction. Jesus reminds us that we must not focus on the bread that will satisfy our hunger briefly, but rather on the bread of eternal life that only he can provide. Jesus explained, “I am the Bread of Life, whoever comes to me will never hunger, and who believes in me will never thirst.” As we go through the week ahead, let’s reflect on where we place our focus, realizing that when we follow Jesus and trust in him, he will satisfy all our needs.
Your brother in Christ, Fr. Antony
Mi Querida Familia;
P. Antony

Eighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Cycle B
Sunday, August 1, 2021 Family Connection:
In today’s Gospel, the crowd asks Jesus for a sign so that they can believe that he has come from God. This is a curious request, because Jesus has just fed more than 5000 people with just five barley loaves and two fish. How quickly they seem to have forgotten the wonderful thing that Jesus has done for them. Or, maybe they never recognized the miracle in the first place. Sometimes we don’t recognize the wonderful things that God has done for us. And, sometimes, we simply forget and ask for further evidence of his love and care. We pray that God will remove our blindness so that we can receive with thanks and praise all the wonderful things that God accomplishes in our lives.
Together as a family, name the wonderful gifts that God has given you and some of the remarkable deeds that God has accomplished in our world. Observe that it is important to stop to count our blessings because we can easily miss recognizing all of the wonderful things that God does for us. Read together today’s
Gospel, John 6:24–35. Ask: Why are the people seeking out Jesus? (because he has fed them) What do they want from Jesus? (a sign that he has come from God) What does Jesus tell them? (He says that he will give them something greater and more important than the bread that fed their physical hungers; he will give them bread that will give them eternal life.) Recall that we have this gift from Jesus in the Eucharist. Pray together, thanking God for all that he has given to us, especially for the gift of
eternal life and the Eucharist. Pray together the Magnificat.

notables que Dios ha realizado en nuestro mundo. Observe que es importante detenernos a contar nuestras bendiciones porque fácilmente podemos perder el reconocimiento de todas las cosas maravillosas que Dios hace por nosotros. Lean juntos el Evangelio de hoy, Juan 6: 24–35. Pregunte: ¿Por qué la gente busca a Jesús? (porque los ha alimentado) ¿Qué quieren de Jesús? (una señal de que ha venido de Dios) ¿Qué les dice Jesús? (Dice que les dará algo más grande e importante que el pan que alimentaba su hambre fisico;
(Fuente: Loyola Press)
