Howdy,
I want to explain a little more about how the diocese will spend your contributions to the evangelization campaign, Together Let Us Go Forth, Juntos Sigamos Adelante.
Did you know that research tells us that 80% of people who leave the faith do so by age 23? Some of that is due to our secular universities where professors can criticize our faith, but cannot defend it. Our Catholic Newman Centers at the three major universities in our diocese will receive a total of $10 million to help our Catholic students grow in their faith.
We currently have 30 seminarians studying for the priesthood and each year that number has been growing. The cost of tuition for our students in college and theology grows as well. The campaign includes $4 million for seminarian support. Also, did you know that we do not have a retirement home priests in our diocese? $3 million has been set aside for a home for retired priests.
The St. Vincent de Paul Society will receive $2 million and the Foundation for Senior Living and Catholic Charities will each receive $1million.
These are only a portion of the ministries receiving help through our campaign. As you can see, it will impact a huge portion of our diocese. Please be as generous as possible.

Quiero explicar un poco más acerca de cómo se distribuirán las contribuciones de la campaña de evangelización, Let Us Go Forth- Juntos Sigamos Adelante.
¿Sabían que las estadísticas nos dicen que el 80% de las personas que abandonan la fe lo hacen cerca de los 23 años? Parte de eso se debe a nuestras universidades seculares donde los profesores pueden criticar nuestra fe, pero no pueden defenderla. Nuestros Centros Católicos Newman en las tres universidades principales de nuestra diócesis recibirán un total de $10 millones para ayudar a nuestros estudiantes católicos a crecer en su fe.
Actualmente tenemos 30 seminaristas recibiendo formación para el sacerdocio y cada año ese número ha ido creciendo. El costo de la matrícula para nuestros estudiantes en la universidad y la teología también

Paz contra Diversión
¿Está su matrimonio lleno de paz y gozo como era la intención de Jesús? Jesús dijo: “Les dejo la paz, les doy mi paz” (Juan 14:27).
Jesús, el Príncipe de la Paz, conoce el camino hacia la verdadera paz y la alegría al vivir los dos grandes mandamientos en obediencia y amor desinteresado: ama a Dios primero y luego a tu prójimo, recordando que tu primer prójimo es tu amado esposo. Este es el orden correcto de las relaciones y vivimos los dos como un regalo de amor para Dios y tu cónyuge.
En el sacramento del matrimonio, le obsequia- mos a nuestra amada nuestro dedicado y con- fiable amor y servicio para la vida. Como Cristo, obedientemente morimos a nosotros mismos por amor a nuestro amado. Nuestra cultura tóxica y secular ignora el camino hacia la verdadera paz y alegría al reempla- zar las relaciones correctas con diversión vacía y frívola y diversión personal como un escape. Durante el proceso de conversión de San Agustín, se dio cuenta de que el libertina- je dejaba su alma vacía e inquieta. Pero, cuando regresó a Dios, recibió los sacramen- tos y vivió de acuerdo con las enseñanzas de Cristo y Su Iglesia, la paz que encontró se mantuvo y alimentó su alma, lo que provocó el comentario: " Mi alma está inquieta Señor, hasta que descanse en ti."
Comparte esto con tu cónyuge. ¿Está inquieta tu alma? ¿Te sientes vacío y deseas la paz del alma? Si es así, asiste a la reconciliación y comienza un nuevo capítulo en tu matrimonio.
Ama a Dios a través de la oración obediente y comienza a vivir tu vida como un regalo para tu cónyuge al preguntar a diario: "¿Qué nece- sitas y cómo puedo ayudar?" Anímense el uno al otro a crecer en santidad. Recen el rosario y pidan a la Santísima Virgen que los proteja y los guíe

Peace versus Fun
Is your marriage filled with peace and joy as Jesus intended? Jesus said, “ My peace I give to you, my peace I leave with you” (Jn. 14:27).
Jesus, the Prince of Peace, knows the way to true peace and joy is by living the two great commandments in obedience and selfless love: love God first and then your neighbor, remembering your first neighbor is your be- loved spouse. This is the right order of rela- tionships and we live both as a gift of love to both God and spouse.
In the sacrament of marriage, we gift our beloved with our dedicated, reliable love and service for life. Like Christ, we obediently die to self for the sake of our beloved. Our toxic, secular culture ignores the way to real peace and joy by replacing right relationships with empty, frivolous fun and personal amusement as an escape. During St. Augustine’s conver- sion process, he became aware that debauch- ery left his soul empty and restless. But, when he returned to God, received the sacraments and lived according to the teachings of Christ and His Church, the peace he encountered stayed and fed his soul, prompting the remark,
“My soul is restless Lord, until it rests in you.”
Share this with your spouse. Is your soul rest- less? Do you feel empty and desire peace of soul? If so, attend reconciliation and begin a new chapter in your marriage. Love God through obedient prayer and begin to live your life as a gift to your spouse by asking daily,
“What do you need and how can I help?”
Encourage each other to grow in holiness. Say the rosary, asking Blessed Mother to protect and guide you.
Do you have a family member who loves to learn about our faith? God may be calling that person to serve as a Sunday Catechist. Your whole family grows in the virtue of generos- ity when one member serves. The whole fami- ly can contribute by supporting the one who volunteers.
Catechists give a couple of hours each Sunday morning to help the children of our parish dis- cover the beauty and riches of our Catholic Faith. We also meet regularly to be nourished in our own faith walk and help children pre- pare for sacraments with day retreats.
Please pray about how your family can help with the catechetical needs of our parish.

Padres, ¿cómo podemos ayudar a nuestros hijos a ir al cielo? En las próximas semanas, consideraremos las medidas que puede tomar para ayudar a sus hijos a llegar al cielo. ¡No hay nada mejor que pueda ofrecerle a su hijo que el verdadero camino hacia Dios, la Santísima Virgen María, los ángeles y los santos por toda la eternidad! La acción de hoy es el bautismo.
Haga bautizar a su hijo lo antes posible. Los padres pueden completar los preparativos, incluso antes del nacimiento de su hijo para que su pequeño pueda ser bautizado de inmediato. Las clases de bautismo, los documentos, los padrinos y los requisitos se pueden completar con anticipación.
Jesús dijo: "Dejen que los niños vengan a mí porque el reino de los cielos es de los que son como ellos". Mt 19:14
Los niños pueden ser bautizados como bebés hasta la edad de siete años, pero no hay una buena razón para esperar. Su bebé merece todas las gracias del Bautismo tan pronto como sea posi- ble.
Si su hijo tiene siete años o más y aún no se ha bautizado, el proceso será más largo (dos años) con más instrucción requerida tanto para los niños como para los padres. Pero nunca es dema- siado tarde. ¡Hoy es el día de gracia! Si tiene un niño no bautiza- do, ¡llame a la oficina de la parroquia y comience el proceso para bautizar a su hijo!

8:30-10:00am.

Parents, how can we help our children get to heaven?
In the next few weeks we will consider actions you can take to help your children get to heaven. There is nothing better you can offer your child than the true path to God, the Blessed Virgin Mary, the angels and saints for all eternity! The action for today is baptism.
Have your child baptized as soon as possible. Parents can complete preparations, even before your child’s birth so your little one can be baptized right away. Baptismal classes, pa- pers, godparents, and requirements can all be completed in advance.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me because the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Mt 19:14 Children can be baptized as infants until the age of seven, but there is no good reason to wait. Your baby deserves all the graces of Baptism as soon as possible.
If your child is seven-years-old or older and has not yet been baptized, the process will be longer (two years) with more instruction required for both children and parents. But it’s never too late. Today is the day of grace! If you have an un- baptized child, please call the parish office and begin the pro- cess to get your child baptized!
We offer a full program of Catechism Sessions for grades Kinder to High School on Sunday mornings from
8:30-10:00am.
Registrations for current and new students open May 7, 2018 and close June 8, 2018. Spaces are limited.
Priority given to active registered members of our Parish.
