Last week’s church offering Average weekly expenses
FROM THE PASTOR…
Dear Parishioners,
This weekend we continue our Year of Voca-tions initiative, CALLED BY NAME, to help surface potential candidates to consider priesthood and the consecrated life in service to the church of our Dio-cese of Brooklyn and Queens.
One question that came up last Sunday was the minimum age of the referred person. I would suggest that the individual need be at least in high
school. As noted in last Sunday’s presentation, materials and invitations will be sent to the parents of any proposed individual under the age of 16.
Please return your response slip when you put your offering into today’s collection. If you have not come up with at least one name, I recommend you keep the slip one more week, brain-storm about it prayerfully in the days to come, and hand back the slip next Sunday, the end of the endeavor.
The future leadership of the Catholic community devolves upon the faithful beginning this dis-cernment, this sifting out of possibilities. Please submit a suggestion in good faith.
At parish Masses this weekend, all priests in the diocese have been directed to tell the story of their own vocation leading to and beyond priest-hood ordination. We are not born with collars around our necks. We generally come form families of believing, practicing Catholics who gave us good example and sincere encouragement to discover and embrace God’s plan for our lives.
God said through the prophet Isaiah long ago: “I have called you by name. You are mine.”
- Father Jerry Jecewiz

We are ready to start for St. Raphael's Family Mass Choir and we need your talents. The children and adults working with the choir have done an excellent job over the recent years and have made significant contributions to the liturgical life of St. Raphael's parish. Children in grades 2 and above who are ready and willing to sing are encouraged to join us. We would also be interested in having any high school students participate. The practices are held one or two Monday's a month at 7:00pm and the choir will be singing at the monthly Family Masses, Christmas Eve and other appropriate occasions. Dates and other specific information will follow. The only requirements are that you attend practice
and Mass, and behave appropriately. We continue to look for
adults who are willing to assist on the singing, who may play a musical instrument or who are willing to help with other support
functions, such as transportation. If you are interested please take a form at back of the church and return it to the parish rec-tory, to Sister Christine at the Religious Education Program, Joe
Becker or Jan Wnek after Mass. If you have any questions re-garding the choir please feel free to call the rectory or call Joe
Becker at 718-392-3008 or email Joe at [email protected].
