THE MYSTERY OF THE BLESSED TRINITY

Today we celebrate the solemnity of the Most Holy

Trinity. The Church sets aside this Sunday to focus our

attention on the mystery of the Blessed Trinity, God who

is one, but three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The first reading from Deuteronomy emphasizes both

God’s awesome greatness and amazing nearness. It might

seem beyond belief, but the God of all creation speaks to

us, protects us, and guides us. The second reading from

Saint Paul’s Letter to the Romans describes how we are to

relate to the three persons who are one God. We are led by

the Spirit to meet God the Father as adopted children. Our

adoption is such that we are even

heirs with our brother, Christ, the

second person of the Trinity, in

whose sufferings we must also

share. In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus

speaks with his authority as God

and sends us to teach and baptize in

the name of the Trinity.

SANTÍSIMA TRINIDAD

Hoy celebramos la

solemni-dad de la Santísima Trinisolemni-dad. La

Iglesia dedica este domingo a

cen-trar nuestra atención en el misterio

de la Santísima Trinidad, Dios, que

es uno, en tres personas: Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo.

La primera lectura de Deuteronomio hace énfasis en

la grandeza imponente de Dios y su cercanía asombrosa.

Puede parecer increíble, pero el Dios de toda la creación

nos habla, nos protege y nos guía. La segunda lectura,

tomada de la carta de San Pablo a los Romanos, describe

la forma en que se relacionan las tres personas que son

un solo Dios. El Espíritu nos guía para cumplir con Dios

Padre como hijos adoptivos. Nuestra adopción es tal que

somos incluso los herederos de nuestro hermano, Cristo,

la segunda persona de la Trinidad, cuyos sufrimientos

también debemos compartir. En el Evangelio según San

Mateo, Jesús habla con la autoridad de Dios y nos envía a

enseñar y bautizar en nombre de la Trinidad.

YES, WE BELIEVE …

Maybe we see God as a force that moves the universe, or as a judge, ready at all times to punish us. BUT THAT IS NOT GOD. Christ, in the Gospel, reveals to us God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit: a community of love, a family. And the Evangelist Saint John, says: GOD IS LOVE. God sends us out today to make disciples of all peo-ple, creating with the Father, redeeming with the Son, and loving with the Holy Spirit!

Pero como no puedo estar en la Misa en este momento para recibirte en la Sagrada Hostia, entra al menos espiritualmente en mi corazón. Siento Tu amor dentro de mi ahora mientras rezo esta oración.
