From the Pastor’s Desk
All across the globe, the Catholic Church is celebrating World Mission Sunday. Before ascending into heaven, Jesus said to his apostles, “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” These words are known as the Great Commission and serve as the mission statement for the Church. Our aim as Catholics is to share the life and love we have received from Christ. As was the case for the first disciples, it falls to each one of us to be “fishers of men.”
This may seem like a daunting task, especially in this day and age, but the concept is not too difficult if you consider these two words: accompany and invite. A good missionary is willing to accompany family members, friends, neighbors, and co-workers as they experience the ups and downs of life. This means expressing genuine concern for people and supporting them whenever possible with a generous heart and a listening ear. Such accompaniment will lead to opportunities for us to invite other to join us at Mass. Our goal is to open the door to an encounter with Christ, helping others come to know the Lord in a new and personal way.
This is the sort of everyday missionary work that men and women in the Church must embrace in our increasingly secular culture. Even if they do not know it, our world is hungry for God – the human heart is restless until it rests in the love of the Lord. Christians must be the ones who intentionally dedicate time and energy to building God’s Kingdom and introducing people to the One who gives meaning to our life. This is the task that Christ has given to you and me.

Join the sisters for Holy Hour on Monday, October 30, from 7:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the convent. On Wednesday, November 1, we’ll celebrate All Saint’s Day with a parish dinner, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Children can dress up as their favorite saint.

Desde el Escritorio del Párroco
En todo el mundo, la Iglesia Católica celebra el Domingo Mundial de las Misiones. Antes de ascender al cielo, Jesús dijo a sus apóstoles: "Vayan y hagan que todas las naciones sean mis bautizándolos en el nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo, y enséñenles a todo lo que yo les he enseñado". Estas palabras se conocen como la Gran Comisión y sirven para definir la misión de la Iglesia. Nuestro quehacer como católicos es compartir la vida y el amor que hemos recibido de Cristo. Como fue el caso de los primeros discípulos, nos corresponde a cada uno de nosotros ser "pescadores de hombres". Esto puede parecer una tarea intimidante, especialmente en estos días, pero el concepto no es demasiado difícil si consideras estas dos palabras: acompañar e invitar. Un buen misionero está dispuesto a acompañar a familiares, amigos, vecinos y compañeros de trabajo mientras experimentan los altibajos de la vida. Esto significa expresar una preocupación genuina por las personas y apoyarlas siempre que sea posible con un corazón generoso y un oído atento. Este acompañamiento nos brindará la oportunidad de invitar a otros a la misa. Nuestro objetivo es abrir la puerta a un encuentro con Cristo, ayudándolos a conocer al Señor de una manera nueva y personal. Este es el tipo de trabajo misionero que hombres y mujeres de la Iglesia deben adoptar en esta cultura cada vez más secular. Incluso si no lo saben, nuestro mundo está hambriento de Dios: el corazón humano está inquieto hasta que descanse en Dios. Los cristianos deben dedicar tiempo intencionalmente y energía a edificar el Reino de Dios dirigiendo a las personas hacia Aquel que da sentido a nuestra vida. Esta es la tarea que Cristo nos ha dado.

All Saints Academy Catholic School
Our theme this year is called to serve. We are excited to be working in our classrooms on service units. These units are taught using the project based learning model. The projects are a collaborative project that is determined by the students with the teacher’s guidance. I look forward to telling you more about it in the future.
Thank you to those recent parishioners who have donated to our window fund. I am waiting to hear from the Catholic Foundation about the results of our grant application. Pray we receive help as we are focusing on finishing the windows this coming summer, but only with the help of the community and God.

On Wednesday, September 27, Pope Francis launched the Share the Journey Migration Campaign to support migrants and refugees around the world. The campaign promotes “the culture of encounter,” and its goal is to increase opportunities for migrants and communities to come together and learn about each other. It’s time again for the annual diocesan Fiber Fair. The event will take place on Saturday, October 28, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Church of the Resurrection (6300 East Dublin-Granville Rd, New Albany). All knitters, crocheters, quilters, seamstresses – all who work with fibers are invited to join in the fun and sharing of our talents as servants of God! All high school students are invited to attend Ohio Dominican University’s Preview Day from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4. St. Catharine Church, in partnership with the SPICE (Special People in Catholic Education) ministry, will host a Mass for People with Special Needs on November 5 at 11:00 a.m.; a reception will follow. This Mass will celebrate the unique gifts of those with physical and mental disabilities as well as their caretakers. To encourage an inclusive, welcoming environment, there will be American Sign Language interpretation, wheelchair accessibility, and low gluten hosts for those with dietary restrictions.
