Cruzar al Otro LadoJb 38:1, 8-11 / 2 Cor 5:14-17 / Mc 4:35-41
En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús y sus discípulos están abrumados por la multitud de gente, y Jesús dice estas palabras tan importantes: “Vamos a la otra orilla”, o sea: “Crucemos al otro lado.” Invita a sus discípulos a navegar hasta el otro lado del mar, donde hay tranquilidad y paz, donde pueden descansar y rezar juntos. ¿Con qué frecuencia te invita Jesús a “cruzar al otro lado”? La vida es ajetreada y el discipulado puede ser duro.
Como estos primeros discípulos, es posible que te encuentres golpeado por el caos que te rodea. ¿A dónde te llama Jesús para que te retires con Él? ¿Quizá en la capilla de adoración o en el tranquilo y vacío santuario durante la hora del almuerzo? ¿Te está esperando en un lugar sombreado durante una tarde de sol, o en la soledad de tu estanque de pesca favorito? Quizá simplemente te está pidiendo que abandones tu teléfono por la noche y pases un rato orando. Hay innumerables formas en las que Jesús te está llamando a descansar en Él… ¿estás
escuchando? Permite que Él te renueve en tu discipulado.
Cross to the Other Side
Jb 38:1, 8-11 / 2 Cor 5:14-17 / Mk 4:35-41
In today’s Gospel, Jesus and his disciples are overwhelmed by the crowds of people, and Jesus utters these very important words: “Let us cross to the other side.” He invites His disciples to sail across the sea where it is quiet and peaceful, where they can rest and pray together. How often does Jesus invite you to
“cross to the other side”? Life is busy and discipleship can be hard. Like these first disciples, you may find yourself battered by the chaos around you. Where does Jesus call you to retreat with Him? Perhaps it is the Adoration Chapel or the quiet, empty sanctuary over your lunch hour? Is He waiting for you in a shady spot on a sunny afternoon, or in the solitude of your favorite fishing pond? Maybe He is simply asking you to put your phone down in the evening and spend some time in prayer? There are countless ways Jesus is calling you to rest in Him — are you listening?? Allow Him to renew you in your discipleship.
In his Apostolic Letter Patris Corde (“With a Father’s Heart”) written to begin the year of St. Joseph, Pope Francis wrote,
“Fathers are not born, but made. A man does not become a father simply by bringing a child into the world, but by taking up the responsibility to care for that child. Whenever a man accepts responsibility for the life of another, in some way he becomes a father to that person.”
The world today needs fathers, men who are willing to accept the responsibility for the lives of their children. This vocation to fatherhood is difficult and challenging, especially today, but young people are desperate for the presence of a father in their lives. As we celebrate Father’s Day this Sunday, we beg St. Jo- seph to pray for all fathers throughout the world, most espe- cially those of our parish. We beg that through his prayers and example, they will become true fathers, men who care for the lives entrusted to them and guide these lives down the road of goodness, justice, and peace.
En su Carta Apostólica Patris Corde ("Con Corazón de Padre") escrita para comenzar el año de San José, el Papa Francisco escribió: "Nadie nace padre, sino que se hace. Y no se hace sólo por traer un hijo al mundo, sino por hacerse cargo de él responsablemente. Todas las veces que alguien asume la responsabilidad de la vida de otro, en cierto sentido ejercita la paternidad respecto a él".
El mundo de hoy necesita padres, hombres que estén
dispuestos a aceptar la responsabilidad por la vida de sus hijos.
Esta vocación a la paternidad es difícil y desafiante,
especialmente hoy, pero los jóvenes están desesperados por la presencia de un padre en sus vidas. Al celebrar el Día de los Padres este domingo, le rogamos a San José que ore por todos los padres del mundo, especialmente los de nuestra parroquia.
Rogamos que, a través de sus oraciones y su ejemplo, se conviertan en verdaderos padres, hombres que se preocupen por las vidas que les han sido confiadas y las guíen por el camino del bien, la justicia y la paz.
