“The devotion of the most holy Rosary is known to have been revealed to Saint Dominic by the divine mother herself, when the saint, being in affliction, bewailed to his Lady the conduct of the Albighensian heretics. The Virgen said to him: ‘This earth will always be barren, until the rain falls on it.’ Saint Dominic was then given to understand that this
rain was to be the devotion of the Rosary.” —- Saint Alphonsus Mary Liguori

The Bible Timeline: The History of Salva on
Beginning on Thursday, October 29 and con nuing on every
Thursday at 7:00 p.m. into the first months of next year (2016)
in the Price Center, we will be offering the most important biblical
course that any Catholic needs: The Bible Timeline, developed by
Jeff Cavins. In this 12-DVD Set (twenty-four, 50-min. sessions), Jeff
Cavins provides expert commentary and unique insights on the
Biblical narra ve. Jeff Cavins is a powerful teacher and makes
what could be complicated, simple to comprehend. “It was great
to know there is a series available that presents such a solid
bibli-cal and scholarly informa on and does so in a highly engaging
and cap va ng way. This was the first me that I have seen that
any Bible study program was able to relate all of the books of the
Old Testament in a clear and coherent system. We all felt that from now on, whenever we
heard an Old Testament reading at Mass, we could easily relate it to the larger picture of
God’s plan of salva on” (Father David Henry). Father Joseph will lead the study. Please
in-form the Parish Office if you intend to a end so as to provide you with more per nent
infor-ma on.

The elec on will take place on November 15. The term of office for the elected members will be at least two years with the possi-bility of a third year of service. Four persons from the Anglo community will be elected, and four from the Hispanic community.
November 1—All Saints Day (next Sunday) is the day on which Catholics celebrate all the saints, known and
un-known, is a surprisingly old feast. It arose out of the Christian tradition of celebrating the martyrdom of saints on the anni-versary of their martyrdom. When martyrdoms increased during the persecutions of the late Roman Empire, local dio-ceses instituted a common feast day in order to ensure that all martyrs, known and unknown, were properly honored. Despite concerns among some Christians (including some Catholics) in recent years about the "pagan origins” of Hal-loween, the vigil was celebrated from the beginning—long before Irish practices, stripped of their pagan origins (just as the Christmas tree was stripped of similar connotations), were incorporated into popular celebrations of the feast. In Western Christian theology, the day commemorates all those who have attained the beatific vision in Heaven.
In-tercesores: Son amigos y hermanos nuestros y grandes bienhechores a quienes
