Dear Brothers and Sisters:

One day, in the city of Basel Switzerland, the famous Swiss Theologian, Carl Barth boarded a street car…

Barth took a seat next to a tourist in the city. The two men started chatting with each other.

“Are you new to the city?” Barth inquired. “Yes,” said the tourist. “Is there anything you would particularly like to see in the city?” asked Barth. “Yes,” said the tourist, “I would like to meet the fa-mous theologian, Carl Barth,” was the reply. “Do you know him?” Barth answered, “As a matter of fact I do know him. I give him a shave every morn-ing.”

The tourist got off the street car quite de-lighted. He went back to his hotel, saying to himself, “I met Carl Barth’s barber today.”

How often do we sit next to other believers, eat with them, sing with them, yet fail to see that we’ve been in the actual presence of Christ Himself!

Jesus says “As long as you did it to one of my brethren, you did it to me.” Such is the reality of God’s presence to us. That is why we need to treat one another with TLC (tender loving care). Our eyes or other senses will not tell us who we are to one an-other. It is our faith in Jesus’s word. His Word is truth itself. May He help each of us to live the truth He gives us.

Love and prayers, Fr. Brian
