Family Connection to Today’s Gospel
Members of the same family often bear close resem- blances to one another. Sometimes physical resem- blances are shared within a family, but often the similarities are behavioral characteristics and man- nerisms. We hear this observation affirmed through a number of common phrases: “He’s a chip off the old block” or “She’s her mother’s daughter.” To-
day’s Gospel points to a mystery of faith that might be examined in light of these familial relationships. In Jesus we see and know the Father. Likewise, the Father is known through the life and work of the Son, Jesus.
Talk together as a family about whether people outside of your fam- ily recognize common traits of your family. Are there physical re- semblances that people recognize and so know each individual as a member of your family? Are there mannerisms that are shared by members of your family? What are some common interests and work that people might associate with your family? As you read today’s Gospel, John 14:1-12, keep in mind that members of the same family share many characteristics, even though each person in the family is an individual. What does Jesus tell his disciples about his relationship with the Father? The relationship between the Fa- ther and Jesus is so close that Jesus says that those who have seen and known Jesus have also seen and known the Father. Jesus prom- ises his disciples that because of their faith in him and in the Father, they too will be able to do the work of the Father as Jesus did. End your discussion by praying together that others will recognize in your family the work of the Father. Pray together the Lord’s Prayer.

Al leer el Evangelio de hoy, John 14:1-12, tenga en cuenta que los miembros de una misma familia comparten muchas características, a pesar de que cada persona de la familia es un individuo. ¿Qué dice Jesús a sus discípulos sobre su relación con El Padre? La relación entre El Padre y Jesús es tan estrecha que Jesús dice que aquellos que han visto y conocido a Jesús también han visto y conocido al Padre.
Jesús promete a sus discípulos que debido a su fe en él y en El Pa- dre, también serán capaces de hacer la obra del Padre como Jesús lo hizo. Para terminar la discusión oren juntos que otros reconoz- can en su familia las obras del Padre. Recen juntos la oración del Padre Nuestro.

Marian Pilgrimage to Portugal/Spain/France
In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima, I will be hosting a pilgrimage to
various Marian Shrines. We will visit the shrines of Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of Lourdes and Our Lady of Montserrat just to mention a few.
The dates of travel are November 6th – 17th, 2017.
The price of the pilgrimage is $3,198 (12 Days/10 Nights); it includes round trip air from Austin;
hotel accommodations, double occupancy; break- fast and dinner daily; deluxe, private motor coach;

The change is only for the missalettes used in the Main Church during Sunday Liturgies. We will switch to a different book that will include both readings and hymns. Effective on June 10th and 11th, 2017 we will be switching to Glor y and Pr aise books for English masses. Flor y Canto and Misal del dia books for Spanish masses. The change will help the parish to save money in the long run. And we will be able to use the new books for the three Litur- gical year cycles of the Church.

Mission Appeal on May 20 and 21
Kabgayi Diocese is located in the Southern Province of Rwanda. It was erected on April 25, 1922. It has total population of 993.150 inhabitants with over 64% of them Roman Catholics.
The Diocese like many other institutions in Rwanda suffered the worst human and material de- struction and loss due to the 1994 Rwanda Genocide. We are still struggling to reconstruct our schools, churches, hospitals in the overall mission of bringing hope, peace and reconciliation to
many who have suffered tremendously. We come to this Mission Appeal with the hope that by sharing our story with our sisters and brothers in Christ we can deepen our solidarity in the salvific mission of Christ and fullness of life for all. Thank you for your support and prayers.

Infertility & Miscarriage Support: Sarah's Hope & Abraham's Promise is a spiritual support program for couples struggling with infertility and miscar- riage. Based on Catholic teaching, we combine the wisdom of modern medi- cine with the healing power of the Catholic Church. We offer a women's Bible study support group, couples healing retreats and prayer services throughout the year.
Adoption Support: Destined: Families Built by Love is a spiritual support program and monthly playgroup for adoptive families. Anyone who has built their family through the miracle of adoption is invited to meet with other families to share the joys and challenges of adoption and fostering. The play- group meets once a month in different areas of Austin.

St Albert the Great Catholic Church, Austin is hosting a Taste of Africa Gala Night on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 7 pm at the Community center; 7300 Hart Lane, Austin, Texas 78731. The highlight of the event will be the draw- ing of the Raffle. First Prize will be a 2017 Chevy Colorado, OR a 2017 Chevy Equinox, with other consolation prizes. Tickets are selling for $10 each. Parishioners of St. Albert the Great will be here THIS weekend to sell the Raffle tickets. Please support them. All proceeds will go to the building of their Parish Activity Center.
