Today we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost! It is the Feast Day where Jesus Christ fulfills his promise to his disciples and to all of us today. It is when he sends the Holy Spirit upon the disciples and where the Spirit remains with them and with all of us. The Holy Spirit, one of the three divine beings in the Holy Trinity continues to be at work throughout our lives whether we are aware of it or not. It is this same Spirit that breathed on the waters and brought about order when the earth was formless and chaotic; the Spirit that came upon Jesus at His baptism; the Spirit who empowered the disciples to go out to all the nations and baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Every time we gather to celebrate the Eucharist, it is the same Holy Spirit that is called upon to transform the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ. It is this Spirit which has given birth to the Church of which each and every one of us is a part of… The Holy Catholic Church. We give praise and thanksgiving to God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit for this wonderful gift, affirming us that we are never alone. Happy Birthday Holy Mother Church! Happy Birthday and Happy Feast Day to you the parishioners of San Jose Catholic Church. I extend congratulations to all of those who received the sacrament of confirmation on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 here at our parish. I would also like to thank Most Reverend Joe S. Vasquez our bishop for celebrating the Mass and administering the sacrament. Thank you to all the RE Staff, RCIA staff and all catechists for their hard work in preparing the students as well as for this wonderful Liturgical Celebration. Please join me in congratulating all of the children that have celebrated their First Communion. Thank you to all the parents and teachers who worked so hard to assist the students in this journey. May all of you receive the grace from God to continue building up the Body of Christ within your families and in your community.
There were 78 children that celebrated First Communion on May 16th.

Clerical Endowment Fund (C. E. F.) Prayer Cards: Cards are available in the Parish Office for a donation of $2.00 or $5.00. Perpetual Certificates are also available. These enrollments make excellent gifts for many occa- sions. Proceeds from these donations are used to educate Seminarians for the Diocese. The Fund is also used to make low interest loans to parishes for their building programs. This has been a project of the Austin Diocesan Council of Catholic Women since 1948.
The San Jose Scholarship Application packet is now available and can be downloaded from the parish website. Where it is my desire to award every student a scholarship, unfortunately this is not possible. Seven scholarships with each being a different amount, will be awarded this year. If you plan on applying for the scholarship please be sure to follow the instructions carefully and to submit the completed form with all documentation by the deadline which is May 29, 2015 by 5:00 p.m. NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE DEADLINE! I will be enforcing this rule as well as other criteria.

Servus Dei es una Aventura de tres-días de justicia social para adolescentes entre sexto y octavo grados.
Servus Dei provee experiencia de oración, actividades de aprendizaje basado en la vida de Jesús y las ense- ñanzas Católicas sociales, y introducir a jóvenes adolescentes a servir como parte integral al discipulado cristiano. El servicio toma acabo en agencias locales y centros locales que asisten a gente necesitada. El retiro es de Junio 18 al 20 de Junio y el costo es de $85. La registración debe de ser sometida antes del 1 de Junio a la oficina de Educación Religiosa.

Servus Dei is a three-day social justice adventure for young adolescents between sixth and eighth grades.
Servus Dei provides prayer experiences, engaging learning activities based on the life of Jesus and Catholic social teaching and introduces young adolescents to service as an integral part of Christian discipleship.
The service involvement takes place at local agencies and centers that assist people in need. The retreat will take place June 18-20 and the cost $85. On-time registration must be submitted by June 1st to the Religious Education Office.

MINISTRY NEWS /NOTICIAS DE LOS MINISTERIOS Summer courses open to all adults
Summer is often vacation time—but it can also be a great learning time! The diocesan Office of Evangelization and Catechesis is offering a variety of cours- es to serve the needs of Catholic school religious educators and parish catechists in the Diocese of Austin.
This year the summer courses are also open to any adult wishing to deep- en their Catholic faith and their understanding of topics such as the church’s social teachings, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), styles and theories of adult learning, Christian leadership and more. The five Basic Teachings courses, which cover the U.S. Catholic Catechism for Adults, pro- vide a helpful foundation for persons involved in all types of parish ministry, including CRHP and ACTS retreat presenters and teams.
All courses (English and Spanish) are held at the diocesan Pastoral Center in Austin and feature instruction by experienced trainers. The courses also include printed materials and books for students. See the course schedule at www.austindiocese.org/fcc2015 for more information and to register.
El verano es con frecuencia un tiempo de vacaciones - ¡pero también puede ser un gran tiempo de aprendizaje! Infertility & Miscarriage Support: Sarah’s Hope & Abraham’s Prom- ise is a spiritual support program for couples struggling with infertility and miscarriage. Based on Catholic teaching, we combine the wisdom of modern medicine with the healing power of the Catholic Church. We offer a women’s Bible study support group, couples healing retreats and prayer services throughout the year.
Adoption Support: Destined: Families Built by Love is a spiritual support program and monthly playgroup for adoptive families. Anyone who has built their family through the miracle of adoption is invited to meet with other families to share the joys and challenges of adoption and fostering. The playgroup meets once a month in different areas of Austin.

Abraham’s Promise will be hosting a heal- ing retreat on Saturday, June 13, 2015 for those who are suffering from the loss of a pregnancy or young infant. The Pierced by Sorrow, Released into Joy retreat will focus on healing the mind, heart and body after

Bingo night at St. Ignatius Martyr!
We’re inviting you and your family to please join us on Friday May 29th for dinner at 6pm with Bingo games starting at 7pm. We’re centrally located at 126 W Oltorf St in the Fr. Gene Dore Family Center. Fun fact: Children are allowed to play Bingo under the supervision of an adult so this can be fun for the whole family.
