PASTOR’S DESK
Today is the second Sunday of Ordinary Time year C. On this Sunday, we rejoice in God who never abandoned us to fate.
We celebrate today because God allowed his son to come to our aid. We also rejoice because, God has blessed and equipped us with different gifts of the Holy Spirit so that we could participate in the ministry of Christ.
The first reading of this Sunday is from the “third Isaiah.”
Through his oracle, prophet Isaiah, God assures us of his willingness to continue to protect and save us, his people.
Therefore it is a message of hope and restoration. So God reminds us today that he has not abandoned us. The tone here is very romantic and simply reminds us of how much God loves us. So like a man or woman who vowed to protect his beloved, God vowed to protect and save us at all cost:
“About Zion I will not be silent; about Jerusalem I will not grow weary…until her salvation flames like a torch…” The reason for this strong assurance is simple. We are God’s Bride and Delight. We are his chosen ones. So, Isaiah exalts us today that God is ready to sacrifice anything for our sake and salvation. This is exactly what he has done by sending us his only son Jesus Christ in order to accomplish this mission.
Also, in our second reading today, Paul reminds us that out of love for us and his church, God has generously lavished each and every one of us with gifts of the Holy Spirit. In other words God did not stop at sending us his only son, He also anointed us with the same spirit with which he anointed Christ. One important point that Paul makes here, is that the gifts that we have received, come from one and the same Holy Spirit. However, we must bear in mind that these gifts are given to us for a purpose. They are given to us in order to participate in the Christ’s mission. They are for the edification and growth of the church of Christ. They are not our personal properties, and so must not be used for selfish reasons. They are given to us generously by God. So we must also use them generously in serving the church.
Today’s gospel from John is centered on the first miracle of Jesus Christ. This miracle was a product of Christ’s generosity.
Although it was not yet time for Christ to commence his public ministry, he generously accepted to help out with his gift of miracle. Through this, Christ taught us exactly how we should use our gifts for the good and growth of God’s people.
Also, another important lesson we should learn from today’s gospel is the role the Blessed Virgin Mary played in this miracle. She had the gift of prayer or intercession. She knew that her son will not refuse her anything good. So, she immediately, interceded on behalf of her people.
The only price that Mary demanded from servants was their obedience to the commands of Christ. She did not need to demand for anything more than this because, she knew that her gift of intercession and her position as the Mother of Christ was a free gift from God for the edification of her people.
Therefore by using her position and gift of intercession very well, Mary participated effectively in the ministry of Christ.
We are therefore called upon today to emulate both the example of Christ and Mary who used their gifts for the growth and edification of the people of God. Also, we must constantly ask our lady for intercession as those at the wedding did. Most importantly, we must be ready to take her advice: “Do whatever He tells you to do!” May God help us to understand this through Christ our Lord, Amen.

ESCRITORIO DEL PASTOR
Hoy es el segundo domingo del año C de tiempo ordinario. En este domingo, nos regocijamos en Dios que nunca nos abandonó al destino. Celebramos hoy porque Dios permitió que su hijo viniera a nuestra ayuda. También nos regocijamos porque, Dios nos ha bendecido y nos ha equipado con diferentes dones del Espíritu Santo para que podamos participar en el ministerio de Cristo.
La primera lectura de este domingo es del "tercer Isaías". A través de su oráculo, el profeta Isaías, Dios nos asegura que está dispuesto a continuar protegiéndonos y salvándonos a su pueblo. Por eso es un mensaje de esperanza y restauración.
Así que Dios nos recuerda hoy que no nos ha abandonado. El tono aquí es muy romántico y simplemente nos recuerda cuánto nos ama Dios. Entonces, como un hombre o una mujer que juró proteger a su amada, Dios prometió protegernos y salvarnos a toda costa: “Acerca de Sión, no guardaré silencio;
sobre Jerusalén no me cansaré... hasta que su salvación arda como una antorcha... "La razón de esta fuerte seguridad es simple. Somos la novia y el deleite de Dios. Somos sus elegidos.
Entonces, Isaías nos exalta hoy que Dios está dispuesto a sacrificar cualquier cosa por nuestro bien y por la salvación.
Esto es exactamente lo que él ha hecho al enviarnos a su único hijo Jesucristo en orden de cumplir esta misión.
Además, en nuestra segunda lectura de hoy, Pablo nos recuerda que por amor a nosotros y a su iglesia, Dios nos ha regalado generosamente a todos y cada uno de nosotros con los dones del Espíritu Santo. En otras palabras, Dios no se detuvo en enviarnos a su único hijo, también nos ungió con el mismo espíritu con el que ungió a Cristo. Un punto importante que Pablo hace aquí es que los dones que hemos recibido provienen del mismo Espíritu Santo. Sin embargo, debemos tener en cuenta que estos regalos se nos dan con un propósito. Nos son entregados para participar en la misión de Cristo. Son para la edificación y crecimiento de la iglesia de Cristo. No son nuestras propiedades personales, por lo que no deben utilizarse por razones egoístas. Dios nos los da generosamente. Así que también debemos usarlos generosamente para servir a la iglesia.
El evangelio de hoy de Juan se centra en el primer milagro de Jesucristo. Este milagro fue producto de la generosidad de Cristo. Aunque aún no era hora de que Cristo comience su ministerio público, él aceptó generosamente ayudarlo con su don del milagro. A través de esto, Cristo nos enseñó exactamente cómo debemos usar nuestros dones para el bien y el crecimiento del pueblo de Dios.Además, otra lección importante que debemos aprender del evangelio de hoy es el papel que jugó la Santísima Virgen María en este milagro. Ella tenía el don de la oración o la intercesión. Ella sabía que su hijo no le negará nada bueno.
Entonces, ella inmediatamente, intercedió en nombre de su gente.
El único precio que María exigió a los siervos fue su obediencia a los mandamientos de Cristo. No necesitaba exigir nada más que esto porque, ella sabía que su don de intercesión y su posición como la Madre de Cristo era un don gratuito de Dios para la edificación de su pueblo. Por lo tanto, al utilizar muy bien su posición y su don de intercesión, María participó efectivamente en el ministerio de Cristo.
Por lo tanto, hoy estamos llamados a emular el ejemplo de Cristo y María, quienes usaron sus dones para el crecimiento y edificación del pueblo de Dios. Además, debemos pedir constantemente a nuestra señora la intercesión, como hicieron los de la boda. Lo más importante es que debemos estar listos para seguir su consejo: “¡Haz lo que Él te dice que hagas!” Que Dios nos ayude a entender esto a través de Cristo nuestro Señor, Amén.

At every Mass we share the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ and we listen to the Word of God. If someone’s birthday falls on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday, do not fret, schedule an Intention and your loved one will be remembered even if you can not attend Mass. The donation is $10 per Mass per name.

Altar Servers Needed
Altar Server Ministry is a ministry of the parish and is a vital part of parish life. It is not about being Father’s helpers at Mass. It is a ministry of the Church and requires training. We will have Altar Server Training for those children who have made their 1st Communion and are interested in becoming an Altar Server. Please call the parish office to sign-up. Parking is prohibited in fire lanes to ensure the access of safety equipment to the structure in the event of an emergency. Fire lanes are defined as passageways or access roads that allow fire apparatuses to pass through. They are not intended for normal vehicle traffic. Because fire trucks and other apparatuses are so large, there must be certain accommodations made for them. Any damages cause by fire trucks or other apparatuses are owners responsibilities.
