PASTOR’S DESK
Today is Pentecost Sunday. Pentecost marks the definitive end of the Easter Season. It occupies a very important position in the Church’s life and liturgical calendar. This is because, it marks the beginning of the church’s missionary endeavor. Pentecost day is a day of renewal and empowerment.
From the first reading of this Sunday, we see the reward of obedience and steadfastness in prayer. Therefore, today we celebrate a great feast, when Christ fulfilled his promise to us. As Christ’s disciples, every true believer has been empowered by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the mutual love of the Father and the Son. He empowers us to go into our world to bring peace, unity, joy, love and salvation to nations.
In the second reading of today, Paul makes a very important statement: “No one can say Jesus is Lord, except through the Holy Spirit.” This means that, it is God himself that enables us to recognize and accept the lordship of Christ through the Holy Spirit.
Due to pride, it is difficult for Satan to acknowledge and accept the lordship of Christ. To say “Jesus is Lord” is to humble oneself. It means to accept Christ as the Lord and Savior of one’s life. Truly, this is only possible through the spirit of truth, the Holy Spirit.
In the gospel, Jesus breathed the Holy Spirit upon his disciples in order to restore their peace and to free them from the slavery of fear. Christ knew that the Holy Spirit empowers and liberates. So, the Spirit we have received,
“is not the spirit of fear and timidity, but the Spirit of power, love, and self-discipline.” (2 Tim 1:7)
According to our Catechism, the Holy Spirit empowers us, makes us strong Christians and soldiers of Christ (CCC 1302).
This empowerment comes through the different gifts we receive from the Holy Spirit. Through them, we become bold to call God our Father (Rom 8:15), and above all, to proclaim to our world that, Jesus Christ is Lord. Also, the Holy Spirit helps us to bear good fruits in Christ (Gal 5, 22). He leads us into the kingdom of righteousness, peace and joy.
Today, we must ask ourselves: “What does the Holy Spirit wants me to do? Where is He leading me to?” It is important to reflect on these questions, especially now that our world has become so complex, and many of us seem confused. We must pay attention to Him. We must be docile to him. We must let him lead and show us the best way.
Only Him, can help us navigate the rough waters of this world. Only the Holy Spirit can calm our fears and restore order to our lives. He alone can empower us to face the daily challenges of our lives, families, communities, and our world at large. He alone can give us the right insight we need to navigate through the complex moments of this life.
In view of this, daily and prayerfully, we must pause to listen to what the Holy Spirit has to say to us in order to know the direction he wants to lead us. Let us give him the chance to direct our lives, families, business and studies. If He leads us, no matter how complex our world becomes, we shall never be confused. We shall always find our way forward. Peace be with you!!

ESCRITORIO DEL PASTOR
Hoy es domingo de Pentecostés. Pentecostés marca el final definitivo de la temporada de Pascua. Ocupa un lugar muy importante en la vida y el calendario litúrgico de la Iglesia.
Esto se debe a que marca el comienzo del esfuerzo misionero de la iglesia. El día de Pentecostés es un día de renovación y empoderamiento.
Desde la primera lectura de este domingo, vemos la recompensa de la obediencia y la constancia en la oración.
Por eso, hoy celebramos una gran fiesta, cuando Cristo cumplió su promesa. Como discípulos de Cristo, todo verdadero creyente ha recibido el poder del Espíritu Santo.
El Espíritu Santo es el amor mutuo del Padre y del Hijo. Él nos da poder para ir a nuestro mundo y traer paz, unidad, gozo, amor y salvación a las naciones.
En la segunda lectura de hoy, Pablo hace una declaración muy importante: "Nadie puede decir que Jesús es el Señor, sino por el Espíritu Santo". Esto significa que es Dios mismo quien nos capacita para reconocer y aceptar el señorío de Cristo a través del Espíritu Santo.
Debido al orgullo, es difícil para Satanás reconocer y aceptar el señorío de Cristo. Decir "Jesús es el Señor" es humillarse. Significa aceptar a Cristo como el Señor y Salvador de la vida. En verdad, esto solo es posible a través del espíritu de verdad, el Espíritu Santo.
En el evangelio, Jesús sopló el Espíritu Santo sobre sus discípulos para restaurar su paz y liberarlos de la esclavitud del miedo. Cristo sabía que el Espíritu Santo da poder y libera. Entonces, el Espíritu que hemos recibido, "no es el espíritu de temor y timidez, sino el Espíritu de poder, amor y autodisciplina". (2 Timoteo 1: 7)
Según nuestro Catecismo, el Espíritu Santo nos da poder, nos hace fuertes cristianos y soldados de Cristo (CIC 1302).
Este empoderamiento viene a través de los diferentes dones que recibimos del Espíritu Santo. A través de ellos, nos atrevemos a llamar a Dios nuestro Padre (ROM 8:15) y, sobre todo, a proclamar a nuestro mundo que Jesucristo es el Señor. Además, el Espíritu Santo nos ayuda a dar buenos frutos en Cristo (Gal 5, 22). Él nos lleva al reino de justicia, paz y gozo.
Hoy, debemos preguntarnos: “¿Qué quiere el Espíritu Santo que haga? ¿A dónde me está llevando? Es importante reflexionar sobre estas preguntas, especialmente ahora que nuestro mundo se ha vuelto tan complejo y muchos de nosotros parecemos confundidos. Debemos prestarle atención. Debemos ser dóciles con El. Debemos dejarlo liderar y mostrarnos el mejor camino.
Solo Él puede ayudarnos a navegar por las aguas turbulentas de este mundo. Solo el Espíritu Santo puede calmar nuestros miedos y restaurar el orden en nuestras vidas.
Solo Él puede empoderarnos para enfrentar los desafíos diarios de nuestras vidas, familias, comunidades y nuestro mundo en general. Solo Él puede darnos la percepción correcta que necesitamos para navegar a través de los momentos complejos de esta vida.
Ante esto, todos los días y en oración, debemos hacer una pausa para escuchar lo que el Espíritu Santo tiene que decirnos para saber en qué dirección quiere llevarnos. Démosle la oportunidad de dirigir nuestras vidas, familias, negocios y estudios. Si Él nos guía, no importa que complejo se vuelva nuestro mundo, nunca estaremos confundidos. Siempre encontraremos el camino adelante. ¡La paz sea con ustedes!

A beautiful way to honor or remember your loved one is to include his or her name in the Mass Intentions. Fortunately, Mass Intentions are not for Sundays exclusively. At every Mass we share the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ and we listen to the Word of God. If someone’s birthday falls on a weekday or Saturday, do not fret, schedule an Intention and your loved one will be remembered even if you can not attend Mass. The donation is $10 per Mass per name.

There will be an Annual Bishop’s Dinner on May 29th at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort in Palm Desert. For dinner information, sponsorship opportunities or hotel information or reservations, please contact Xochitl in the Parish Office.
The Annual Bishop’s Dinner was organized in the year 2000 by Lady Virginia Zamboni and a dedicated group of volunteers she named the Honorary Committee. Proceeds from the dinner benefit Diocesan Seminarians. This year will mark the 20th Anniversary of the Diocese's signature fundraising event, initiated by Bishop Gerald Barnes in 2000. The Dinner would quickly become an occasion for Bishop Barnes to bestow his Amar Es Entregarse Award. In a special twist, Bishop Alberto Rojas, who succeeded Bishop Barnes Dec. 28, has decided to dedicate the 20th Bishop's Dinner to honoring Bishop Barnes for his Episcopal Service to the people of God. After honoring 94 individuals or organizations with his Amar Es Entregarse medal, Bishop Barnes, himself, will receive it.

STREET CLEAN-UP
The city of Adelanto requires all organizations who wish to have a Fireworks Stand for the 4th of July to participate in a street clean-up program monthly. Additionally, we are required to participate in the citywide clean up program twice a year. Our next scheduled street clean up is this Saturday, May 30th from 8am-10am. with coffee, drinks and donuts afterward. Please bring weed whackers, hoes and rakes. It is important that as many as possible participate in this effort. For more information please contact the office.

La ciudad de Adelanto pedir que todas las organizaciones quien quiere tener un lugar para los Fuegos Artificiales para el 4 de Julio participen mensualmente en un programa de limpieza de calles. Además, estamos obligados a participar en el programa de limpieza de la ciudad dos veces al año. Nuestra próxima limpieza de la calle es este Sábado 30 de Mayo de 8am-10am. con café y donas después.
