(2) PASTOR’S DESK Today is the twelfth Sunday of the church’s ordinary time. In it, the holy mother church reminds and encourages us her children that, Christ is with us even in the midst of all the storms of this life. Therefore, this is a great cause for celebration and thanksgiving because we are so glad that Jesus cares for us. Both the first reading from Job and the Gospel of Mark, remind us that God is the creator of the world. Hence, he has the power to control and regulate all the natural, physical and spiritual forces or activities going on in this world. He has the whole world in his hands and so, directs the course of our lives and the history of this world. He knows when best to intervene both in our personal life and in the history of our entire world. This is evident in his timely response to Job and, intervention in the situation of his disciples. According to our second reading, when God intervenes, he does so out of love for us his children and world. This was what he did when he allowed his only son Jesus Christ to die at the appropriate time in order to save and renew us. Life is full of storms. At times, they can become so strong and strange that our human strength can no longer support us. At such moments fear and complains might take over the central stage of our life. Even in some cases, we might lose our faith in God, thinking that he has abandoned us or that he does not exist. These storms come in different forms. They could be: problems in our marriage, our children who are not responding well, lack of good job, poor finance, inability to procreate, or a prolonged sickness that has defiled all treatments. They could also be the inability to find or maintain a good and stable relationship or, falling out with people all the time. They could also be poor results in our academics or business. The list is unending, but these represent the realities we face every day. My beloved friends, the truth is that, there is no assurance that our lives would be completely free of storms. However, the good news is that, there is an assurance that Christ is with us to help us succeed. There are two basic truths that the gospel reveals to us about these problems. The First is that, Christ is with you in that boat and, is aware of the storm you are battling with. So, you cannot be with Him and yet sink. It is not possible! The second is that, no matter how experienced you think you are in navigating your own boat, you cannot overcome your storms alone. Hence, Christ tells us: “Apart from me, you can do nothing.” There is no doubt that before inviting Christ, his disciples made much effort to control their own boat. However, when they failed, they cried out: “Lord, do you not care if we perish?” Of course, Christ intervened because he assured us: “Call upon me in times of trouble and I will help you” (Ps 50: 15). Finally, there are three things we must continue to do. First, rather than live in fear, seat and, complain like Job, or give up completely, let us cry out and invite the Lord to help us. This is because: “Our help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth” (Ps 121, 1-2). Second, we must continue to show profound faith in God, his Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Spirit. That is, faith that makes us believe that God created us in love sustains us with his providence and, will save us through his mercy. Third, we must continue to be thankful to God in all circumstances of our life. So, with the psalmist let us: “…Give thanks to the Lord, for his love and mercy endures forever.” Peace be with you. God Bless, Fr. Canice. 2 | CHRIST THE GOOD SHEPHERD. ESCRITORIO DEL PASTOR Hoy es el duodécimo domingo del tiempo ordinario de la iglesia. En él, la santa madre iglesia nos recuerda y nos anima a sus hijos que Cristo está con nosotros incluso en medio de todas las tormentas de esta vida. Por lo tanto, este es un gran motivo de celebración y acción de gracias porque estamos muy contentos de que Jesús se preocupe por nosotros. Tanto la primera lectura de Job como el Evangelio de Marcos, nos recuerdan que Dios es el creador del mundo. Por lo tanto, tiene el poder de controlar y regular todas las fuerzas o actividades naturales, físicas y espirituales que ocurren en este mundo. Incluso en algunos casos, podemos perder nuestra fe en Dios, pensando que nos ha abandonado o que no existe. Estas tormentas se presentan en diferentes formas. Podrían ser: problemas en nuestro matrimonio, nuestros hijos que no están respondiendo bien, falta de buen trabajo, malas finanzas, incapacidad para procrear o una enfermedad prolongada que ha contaminado todos los tratamientos. También podrían ser la incapacidad de encontrar o mantener una relación buena y estable o pelearse con personas todo el tiempo. También podrían ser malos resultados en nuestro ámbito académico o empresarial. La lista es interminable, pero estas representan las realidades que enfrentamos todos los días. Mis queridos amigos, La verdad es que no hay seguridad de que nuestras vidas estén completamente libres de tormentas. Sin embargo, la buena noticia es que existe la seguridad de que Cristo está con nosotros para ayudarnos a tener éxito. Hay dos verdades básicas que el evangelio nos revela sobre estos problemas. La primera es que Cristo está contigo en ese barco y es consciente de la tormenta con la que estás luchando. Entonces, no puedes estar con Él y aun así hundirte. ¡No es posible! La segunda es que, sin importar la experiencia que creas que tienes en la navegación de tu propio barco, no puedes superar tus tormentas solo. Por eso, Cristo nos dice: "Aparte de mí, no podéis hacer nada". No hay duda de que antes de invitar a Cristo, sus discípulos se esforzaron mucho por controlar su propia barca. Sin embargo, cuando fallaron, gritaron: "Señor, ¿no te importa si perecemos?" Por supuesto, Cristo intervino porque nos aseguró: “Llámame en tiempos de angustia y te ayudaré” (Sal 50, 15). Finalmente, hay tres cosas que debemos seguir haciendo. Primero, en lugar de vivir con miedo, sentarse y quejarse como Job, o rendirse por completo, clamemos e invitemos al Señor a que nos ayude. Esto se debe a que: “Nuestra ayuda viene del Señor que hizo los cielos y la tierra” (Sal 121, 1-2). En segundo lugar, debemos continuar mostrando una fe profunda en Dios, su Hijo Jesucristo y en el Espíritu Santo. Es decir, la fe que nos hace creer que Dios nos creó con amor nos sostiene con su providencia y nos salvará por su misericordia. En tercer lugar, debemos seguir siendo agradecidos con Dios en todas las circunstancias de nuestra vida. Entonces, con el salmista, digamos: "... Den gracias al Señor, porque su amor y misericordia perduran para siempre". La paz sea con ustedes. Que Dios los bendiga, Padre Canice.

STREET CLEAN-UP The city of Adelanto requires all organizations who wish to have a Fireworks Stand for the 4th of July to participate in a street clean-up program monthly. Additionally, we are required to participate in the citywide clean up program twice a year. Our next scheduled street clean up is this Saturday, June 26th from 8am-10am. with coffee, drinks and donuts afterward. Please bring weed whackers, hoes and rakes. It is important that as many as possible participate in this effort. For more information please contact the office. Thank you..
