Año Liturgico: El siguiente fin de semana comienza el nuevo calendario Litur- gico, el cual comienza con la temporada del Adviento. La temporada del Adviento nos da cuatro semanas para prepararnos para recibir el Bebe Jesus. Es durante esta temporada que la Iglesia utiliza la corona del adviento como parte de las celebraciones liturgicas. Yo tambien animo a familias que tengan una corona de adviento en sus casas. Es una oportunidad para que las familias tomen tiempo del negocio de la vida para unirse en oracion y convivio. Si tiene una corona de adviento, los animo que continuen practicando esta maravillosa tradicion. Si no lo hace, es una oportunidad para que comienze una costumbre y tradicion nueva en su familia. La iluminacion de la corona toma lugar alrededor de la mesa de la cena antes de sentarse juntos para comer. Tambien puede tomar lugar despues de la cena, en donde individuales pueden unirse y rezar como una familia.
Lo que sea que haga durante esta temporada del Adviento, por favor tome el tiempo para orar como familia y preparen sus corazones para recibir al Rey recien nacido. Recuerde, nuestros corazones son el pesebre en donde lo recibimos a El. ¡Preparemos el camino del Señor! Bendiciones a todos.
Gentil recordatorio: como un amable recordatorio no tenga a sus hijos desa- tendidos. Deben tener un padre con ellos en todo momento. Esto incluye todas las facilidades de la parroquia. Velas: Utilice sólo las velas que son 51% (o más) cera de abeja al encender velas en la gruta. Estas velas pueden adquirirse a través de la librería del Corazón Sagrado o a través de la oficina parroquial. Las velas que no son de esta norma se eliminarán inmediatamente. Velas que no están hechas de cera de abejas crean un montón de hollín que se acumula en el interior de las paredes de la gruta (o cualquier otro lugar) y dañan las paredes y la estatua de nuestra señora.

Prayer of Thanksgiving: God most provident, we join all creation in raising to you a hymn of thanksgiving through Jesus Christ, your Son. For generation upon generation peoples of this land have sung of your bounty; we too offer you praise for the rich harvest we have received at your hands. With grateful hearts we ask your blessing upon each of us and upon the food which we are about to share with one another. May we be nourished by it and by your holy word so that we may work in bringing and building your kingdom here on earth. Continue to make our land fruitful and let our love for you be seen in our pursuit of peace and justice and in our generous response to our brethren in need. All praise and glory to you, Lord our God, now and forever. Amen.

Liturgical Year: Next weekend begins the new Liturgical Calendar which begins with the Season of Advent. The Season of Advent gives us four weeks to prepare ourselves to receive the Christ Child. It is during this season that the church utilizes the Advent Wreath as part of the Liturgical Celebrations. I also encourage families to have an Advent Wreath in their homes. It is a wonderful opportunity for families to try to make time from the business of life to gather for prayer and fellowship. If you have an Advent Wreath, I encourage you to continue to practice this wonderful tradition. If you do not, it is an opportunity to start a new custom and tradition within your family. The lighting of wreath usually takes place around the dinner table before sitting together to share a meal. It may also take place after the meal where individuals may come to pray together as a family.
Whatever you do, during this Season of Advent, please take the time to pray together as a family and prepare your hearts to receive the New Born King!
Remember, our hearts is the Manger in which we are to receive Him. Let us prepare the way of the Lord! Blessings to all.

Gentle Reminder: As a Gentle Reminder please do not have your children left unattended. They must have a parent with them at all times. This includes all the parish facilities and grounds. We all must be vigilant with regards to our children… Our children are a precious treasure of the Church.
Monthly Bingo: Due to unforeseen circumstances this month’s regular Bingo as well as the Turkey Bingo will have to be postponed. The individuals who are licensed will not available manage the Bingo. Because of this situation I am hop- ing to hold the Bingo in December pending of the availability of licensed Bingo Operators. If you think you might be interested in helping out with the Bingo, please contact my office for information. Please know that Bingo Operators must go through a back ground check as well as training through the State of Texas. In order to continue the monthly Bingo, which support scholarships for our gradu- ates, we need more licensed volunteers. Please consider helping.
Candles: Please only use candles that are 51% (or more) Bee’s wax when lighting candles in the Grotto. These candles can be purchased through the Sacred Heart Bookstore and/or through the parish office. Candles that are not of this standard will be removed immediately. Candles that are not made of bees wax creates a lot of soot which will collect along the inside walls of the Grotto (or any place) and damage the walls and statue of our lady. This is unhealthy to breathe in as well, especially for children. Thank you for your cooperation.

THE GUADALUPANA SOCIETY would like to invite all families to pay homage to Our Lady of Guadalupe, by having us come into their homes to pray a Rosary, Monday through Friday, from Oct 28 until Dec. 2. On Saturdays and Sundays the Rosary will be in the Main Church at 4 pm.

How to Become EIM Compliant: New Applicant We are all Called to Protect.
REQUIRED steps to complete the EIM process for all new applicants:
1. Submit (one time only) an EIM Application for Ministry prior to volun- teering; or for new employees, within the first week of employment (a condition of continued employment). Submitting the EIM application (available online and in a paper version) permits the Diocese of Austin to run a background check and also creates an account for EIM administra- tors to record your workshop history. All sections of the application must be completed in order to submit it; incomplete applications are deleted out of the database periodically.

2. Attend a three-hour EIM Basic Workshop (within 60 days of applica- tion submission) that teaches participants about boundaries, warning signs, appropriate interactions with minors and vulnerable adults, how to respond to incidents and reviews diocesan EIM policies. [Note: New Applicants who have verification of previous workshop attendance in a different diocese may submit that verification to the EIM Office for review. This previous training may be able to serve as applicant’s “Ba- sic”; they then need to attend a Refresher workshop to review diocesan policies and procedures and sign the Code of Ethics form.

3. You should check your own EIM account periodically to view the status of your application and verify that your workshop date has been recorded, or contact your parish/school office for assistance. You will not be contacted by the EIM Office unless there is an issue with your application or background check.

Clerical Endowment Fund (C. E. F.) Prayer Cards: Cards are avail- able in the Parish Office for a donation of $2.00 or $5.00. Perpetual Certificates are also available. These enrollments make excellent gifts for many occasions. Proceeds from these donations are used to edu- cate Seminarians for the Diocese. The Fund is also used to make low interest loans to parishes for their building programs. This has been a project of the Austin Diocesan Council of Catholic Women since 1948.
