SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION DEADLINE (Postmarked by) March 11, 2019
The Dr. Daniel Gutierrez Scholarship aims to strengthen the local community by advancing post-secondary education among Hispanic students. These scholarships are made possible through a grant awarded to the Hispanic Latino Coalition by the Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission and through fundraising efforts of the Hispanic Latino Coalition.
Who may apply?
You must be descended from at least one of the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, México, Nicaragua, Panamá, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain, Uruguay, or Venezuela, to apply.
Awards
The scholarship award is $1,000. The award may be applied to any two or four year institution or trade school. Scholars hips will be awarded depending on the availability of funds.
Scholarships will be given to candidates who live in these zip-codes: 60432, 60433and 60436 or the Fairmont District of 60441. A few scholarships may be given to residents of Will and Grundy Counties outside of the identified zip-code areas.
There are NO Religious Education classes on Monday, February 18 due to the observance of Presidents Day.
Classes resume at the regular times for the rest of the week.

FIRST COMMUNION MEETING
There will be mandatory meetings for the students who will celebrate their First Holy Communion this year and their parents/guardians. There are two options to attend. The bilingual meetings will be held in the gym.
Option #1: Friday, Feb. 22 6:00pm-8:00pm Option #2: Saturday, Feb. 23 9:00am-11:00am
CONFIRMATION MAKE-UP MEETING
We will be offering a make-up meeting for the families who were not able to participate in the recent Confirmation meetings due to the weather. The meeting is for the students who will celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation this year, and their parents/guardians and their sponsor. Please bring a white candle (any kind) to this meeting for each of your children for a special prayer. The bilingual meeting will be held in the gym on Saturday, Feb. 23 from 11:00am-1:00pm.

The Diocese of Joliet is mailing information about the 2019 Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal (CMAA) to all registered parishioners this month. As you know, the CMAA supports 30 ministries that benefit every parish in the diocese, including ours, and are Signs of Hope to our brothers and sisters most in need.
Our parish’s goal for the 2019 CMAA is $29,600. Please remember that 70 percent of any amount we raise over goal will be returned to us for our use. This is a great opportunity for our parish! Please review the materials you receive and prayerfully reflect on your gift to this year’s annual appeal.
If you do not receive a mailing from the diocese about the CMAA, please contact the parish office.

Premios
El premio de la beca es de $ 1,000. El premio se puede aplicar a cualquier institución de dos o cuatro años o escuela comercial. Se otorgarán becas a estudiantes dependiendo de la disponibilidad de fondos. Los estudiantes que anteriormente recibieron una beca son elegibles para solicitar un premio de segundo año. Dos primeros beneficiarios del año se elegirán para un premio de 2º año y serán elegibles para solicitar un premio en su 3º y 4º año de estudios pos secundarios siempre que mantengan un GPA de 3.0 o superior.

lunes, 18 de febrero debido al
Día de los Presidentes. Las clases se reanudan en los horarios regulares
durante el resto de la semana.
Ofreceremos una junta para las familias que no pudieron participar en las juntas de Confirmación recientes debido al clima. La reunión es para los estudiantes que celebrarán el Sacramento de la Confirmación este año, y sus padres / tutores y su padrino. Por favor traiga una vela blanca (de cualquier tipo) a esta junta para cada uno de sus hijos, para una oración especial. La junta bilingüe se llevará a cabo en el gimnasio el sábado 23 de febrero de 11:00am a 1:00pm.
