October Blessings

The month of October blesses us with the feast days of two great saints and the remembrance of an inspirational leader.

These three persons in particular, inspire us to live our lives more fully. We celebrate St. Therese of the Child Jesus, also known as St.Therese of Lisieux or The Little Flower, on October 1st. The austere life of St. Francis of Assisi is celebrated on October 4th. Ma- hatma Gandhi’s birthday on October 2nd is a holiday in India and he is remembered for his contributions to- wards the Indian struggle for freedom. Their lives give answers to two of life’s questions.

1. Do I love generously?

St. Teresa of Lisieux said, "My vocation is love.” Her way of love was a child-like trust and devotion to the Lord and love for all humanity. She loved so generously that the waves of this love are still felt across the world through her prayers and daily sacrifices. Her autobiog- raphy, The Story of a Soul, became a best-seller around the world. She said, “Remember that nothing is small in the eyes of God. Do all that you do with love.”

2. Do I live my life fully?

St. Francis of Assisi lived the fullness of life by living as Jesus did. He left his youthful ambitions and lived his life in great simplicity, purity, and compassion. His love for the poor, love for the church, and love for the ani- mals and nature is unparalleled. Are you living life in its fullness?

Mahatma Gandhi was a man of courage and champion of non-violence. His life, rooted in truth and the beati- tudes of Jesus, inspired the great leader, Martin Luther King, Jr., to pursue the path of peace and non-violence during the civil rights movement.

Each one of us is called to love generously and live our life fully for the Lord and one another. May these great saints and lives beautifully led, inspire and guide us.

Looking forward to see you at the Fistober Fest this Sun- day evening, October 7th.

Peace and Blessings!

Fr. Tom

¡Paz y bendiciones!

P. Tom
