Su nombre varía entre los anexos, la llaman Perrito porque algunos de sus tubérculos se enrollan tomando la apariencia de un perrito durmiendo, también Culebrita o Víbora por sus tubérculos alargados, y Lombriz por el color rojizo de sus tubérculos. No es muy común en la comunidad porque rápidamente se rompe en su traslado. Se prepara asada y es utilizada para destetar a los niños, dándoles estas papitas en reemplazo de galletas. Al sancocharla su textura es variable, dependiendo del ambiente de cultivo, y su piel no se rompe.

Its name varies between the annexes, they call it Perrito (puppy) because some of its tubers are rolled up giving the appearance of a sleeping puppy, also Culebrita (snake) or Víbora (viper) because of its elongated tubers, and Lombriz (worm) because of the reddish color of its tubercles. It is not very common in the community because it quickly breaks in its transport. It is prepared roasted and is used to wean children, giving them these potatoes instead of cookies. When parboiled, its texture is variable, depending on the growing environment, and its skin does not break.

El nombre Perrita proviene de la forma del tubérculo que asemeja un perrito acostado, y Blanca por el color claro predominante del tubérculo. Esta variedad es cultivada en pocas cantidades y en mezcla para consumo familiar, muy rara vez para comercialización. Al sancocharla su piel se rompe, su textura es dura y se consume asada en carbón o como papa seca en sopa.

The name Perrita comes from the shape of the tuber that resembles a lying puppy, and Blanca from the predominant light color of the tuber. This variety is cultivated in small quantities and mixed for family consumption, very rarely for commercialization. When parboiled, its skin breaks, its texture is hard and it is eaten roasted on charcoal or as a dried potato in soup.

Esta es otra variedad que pertenece al grupo de las perritas. El nombre Perrito Negro se debe al color oscuro predominante del tubérculo. Es cultivada en pequeñas cantidades solo para consumo familiar. Al sancocharla su piel no se rompe y su textura es variable.

Comúnmente se utiliza para sopa.

Es una variedad introducida a través del PRONAMACHCS (Programa Nacional de Manejo de Cuencas Hidrográficas y Conservación de Suelos) entre los años 1998-2000. Todos los anexos la cultivan por ser muy comercial. Las familias la cultivan en melgas –faja de terreno delimitada por camellones que contiene entre 6 a 10 surcos– como única variedad. Es la preferida para la preparación de chuño. Al sancocharla su piel se rompe rápidamente, su textura es harinosa y se desintegra si se deja cocinar por demasiado tiempo. Es buena para la preparación de puré y su sabor es agradable.

It is a variety introduced through the PRONAMACHCS (National Program for Hydrographic Basin Management and Soil Conservation) between the years 1998-2000.

All the annexes cultivate it because it is very commercial. Families cultivate it in beds – a strip of land delimited by ridges that contains between 6 to 10 furrows – as the only variety. It is the Especie / Species

En la cosecha se busca esta variedad para ser cocinada para el almuerzo por su agradable sabor. Su piel se rompe rápidamente al sancocharla, su textura es harinosa y se desintegra si se deja cocinar por mucho tiempo.

Esta variedad pertenece al grupo de las ‘pingrinas’ y es preferida por la población de Tayabamba. Por su buen sabor generalmente la cocinan en el almuerzo el día de la cosecha. También es acompañada con café y/o leche y asimismo es muy consumida asada en carbón.

This variety belongs to the ‘pingrinas’

group and is preferred by the population of Tayabamba. Due to its tasty flavor, they usually cook it for lunch on harvest day.

Su nombre se debe a la similitud del tubérculo con la piña y al color blanco de su piel. Esta variedad no es muy común en la comunidad. Las familias que la cultivan la siembran en mezcla con otras variedades pero en pocas cantidades. Al sancocharla su piel se rompe y su textura es medianamente harinosa. Es consumida como papa seca en sopa.

Its name is due to the similarity of the tuber with the pineapple (pina) and the white (blanca) color of its skin. This variety is not very common in the community.
