Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Metro Vancouver Regional District (MVRD) Industrial Lands Strategy Task Force held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2020 in the 28th Floor Boardroom, 4730 Kingsway, Burnaby, British Columbia.

5.1 Metro Vancouver Regional Industrial Lands Strategy - Approval
Report dated April 15, 2020 from Eric Aderneck, Senior Planner, Regional Planning and Housing Services, presenting the Regional Industrial Lands Strategy for approval, and seeking direction to distribute the strategy for endorsement and collaborative implementation.
1:28 p.m. Ron Bronstein arrived at the meeting.
Members were provided with a presentation on the Regional Industrial Lands Strategy, highlighting engagement activities and feedback, strategy recommendations and priority actions, and implementation and next steps.
Discussion ensued on protecting agricultural land when considering the industrial land shortage, balancing stratified development and trade-oriented land uses, and potential implications of forming an industrial land reserve.
Members considered referring the Regional Industrial Lands Strategy back to staff to report back with updated recommendations emphasizing agricultural land protection and the implications of forming an Industrial Land Reserve.

That the Industrial Lands Strategy Task Force refer the Regional Industrial Lands Strategy to staff to report back with updated recommendations related to strengthening the protection of regional agricultural land and the advisability of advocating for a Provincial Industrial Land Reserve.
