From the Pastor‘s Desk
Dear brothers and sisters,
The Gospel of today is the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount of Saint Matthew. It is a fundamental passage in the Scriptures be- cause it portrays what is the new creation that God wants to do with us. Today we read the Beatitudes. This passage always brings me back to the year 2000 when I was for the first time in Israel accompanying with 500,000 youth from the whole world accompanying St.
John Paul II. On March 24, he had a Mass on the Mount of Beatitudes and I vividly remember his homily. He told us, and I paraphrase, it seems that Jesus is calling us to be losers; he calls blessed to all those we consider losers: the poor, the meek, those who cry, etc. … However, Christ is calling us to a different life… choose Christ! These words of St. John Paul II had a profound impact, he invited us in that mount to abandon our nets and to follow Christ. I also share this phrase: “To put your faith in Jesus means choosing to believe what he says, no matter how strange it may seem, and choosing to reject the claims of evil, no matter how sensible or attractive they may seem.” If you want to be happy follow Christ not your ideas or plans.
I also want to invite you all to participate in the Synod that Pope Francis is inviting us. Please see at the end of the bulletin where the schedule is posted. To be part of the Synod is to listen together what the Holy Spirit is calling us to do and go as a Church. Never for- getting who we are but we need to reflect how to bring Christ to the world today. Please make sure you participate in one of the ses- sions. Also, do not forget to give your contribution to the mission of the Church in the Annual Appeal.
Saint Francis de Sales Pray for Us!
Queridos hermanos y hermanas
Hoje lemos as bem-aventuranças.
Veja no final do boletim onde a programação é publicada.
Fr. Francisco

Contemplative prayer is a gift of the Holy Spirit to the Church and to the whole world. Called by this life of prayer, Venerable Moth- er Foundress Catherine Aurelia Caouette founded the Institute of the Sisters Adorers of the Precious Blood in St. Hyacinthe, Que- bec, Canada on September 14,1861. As the recipients of the spiritual heritage of our Mother Foundress, we are called to a life wholly dedicated to the prayer of adoration and reparation. The principle end of our Institute is to give glory to the Father through the worship of His Son in the mystery of His Precious Blood and to honor Mary Immaculate in her conception. While our physical presence among the People of God is limited, our apostolic zeal for souls, purchased with the Saving Blood of Christ, finds its effectiveness in our life of prayer, contemplation and union with God.
CONSTANCY IN PRAYER IS OUR SERVICE IN THE CHURCH.
