Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
Lord Jesus is our shepherd. At the end, at his coming, he will turn over the kingdom to his Father. He will “judge between one cheap and another, between rams and goats”, between those who have lived their lives for others, and those who have lived for themselves.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
When the Son of Man comes in glory, may we be among those who have fed the hungry, welcomed the stranger, and clothed the naked. For Jesus tells us clearly that it is those who have demonstrated good stewardship by sharing their gifts with the less fortunate who will receive God ‘s blessing and inherit the kingdom.

Cuando el Hijo de el Hombre venga glorificado, que estemos nosotros entre los qué hayan dado de comer al hambriento, dado la bienvenida al extranjero y vestido al desnudo. Porque Jesus nos dice claramente que son aquellos que han demostrado una buena administracion de los bienes de Dios compartiendo sus dones con los menos afortunados los que recibiran la bendición de Dios y heredaran el reino.
THE SHEPHERD KING
The job of shepherd and the job of king couldn’t be more different from each other. Shepherds are on the lowest rung of society, kings are at the top. But God says, through the prophet Ezekiel, that the Messiah will lead in a way very different from earthly authorities who lord it over their people and cause harm with their poor leadership.
Our King takes on the job himself. Christ, like a shepherd, will give rest, seek out the lost, bring back the strayed and scattered ones. He will heal the wounded and bind up the injured. He does not delegate, but will “shepherd them rightly.” We have a king who cares for us and who is not afraid to “judge between one sheep and another” (Ezekiel 34:17).

EL REY PASTOR
La tarea del pastor y la tarea del rey no pueden ser más diferentes la una de la otra. Los pastores están en el último escalón de la sociedad, mientras los reyes están en el más elevado. Pero Dios dice, por medio del profeta Ezequiel, que el Mesías regirá de manera muy diferente a las autoridades de la tierra que oprimen a su pueblo y le causa daño por ser malos gobernantes.
Nuestro Rey asume el trabajo por sí mismo. Cris-to, como un pastor, dará reposo a sus ovejas, buscará a la extraviada, traerá de vuelta a las perdidas y dispersas. Curará a las heridas y vendará a las lesionadas. Él no de-lega, sino que las apacentará “con justicia”. Tenemos a un rey que vela por nosotros y que no tiene miedo de “juzgar entre oveja y oveja” (Ezequiel 34:17).

The Call to Stewardship
TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE
El 23 de noviembre de 1927, un pelotón de soldados conducía al jesuita mexicano Miguel Agustín Pro Juárez al paredón de fusilamiento. Uno de ellos le susurraba “perdóneme”. Miguel le respondió que no sólo lo perdonaba, sino que le daba las gracias por darle la oportunidad de dar testimonio de su fe derramando su sangre por Cristo. Días antes había sido arrestado y acusado de intento de asesinato contra el presidente mexicano Álvaro Obregón. En realidad su delito era el de bautizar niños, bendecir matrimonios, llevar la comunión a los enfermos y escuchar la confesión de los arrepentidos.
Miguelito nació en 1891 y entró al noviciado jesuita en 1914, al mismo tiempo que el gobierno mexicano comenzaba una persecución en contra de la Iglesia. Debido a esta situación, Miguel tuvo que hacer su formación religiosa fuera de México. Apenas pudo, regresó a su nación como sacerdote e hizo su pastoral a escondidas, sabiendo muy bien que podía ser martirizado.
Miguel decía a sus amigos que al morir iría al cielo y si se encontraba con santos resecos, bailaría un jarabe tapatío hasta hacerles sonreír para Cristo Rey.

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION
Coming to the end of the Church year, we can wonder how we got “extreme unction” out of “anointing of the sick.” “Extreme” comes from a Latin phrase, in extremis, which in English refers to the last struggle of a dying per-son. “Last rites” is a phrase in common usage, and refers to the fact that years ago everyone waited until the last crisis of illness to summon the priest. The goal of anointing had al-ways been healing and forgiveness, but in time it began to be seen as a preparation for death. In a hard world, almost anything from a hangnail to a sneeze could be life‑threaten-ing, so perhaps the change was inevitable. The emphasis on the penitential aspects was heightened, even to the odd prac-tice of Rome in the twelfth century, when the sick person was sprinkled with ashes mixed with holy water and given a hair shirt as a sign of penance.
The reformers thankfully overlooked some of these oddities of history, and today the sacrament of the sick is much more generously applied to persons in a wide range of situations. Still, it is a sacrament of reconciliation, and for that reason is not celebrated for an infant or toddler, alt-hough there is a rite for a visit to a sick child not including anointing or Communion.

BLESSED MIGUEL AGUSTÍN PRO (1891-1927) November 23
Graham Greene’s classic The Power and the Glory immortalized Mexico’s persecuted Church of the 1920s. But photographs of Father Pro—arms out-stretched to image Christ Crucified, kneeling in prayer before the firing squad, crumpled dead on the ground—vividly, visually remind us that not long ago, not far away, the faith we take for granted cost everything! Born to a mining family, Miguel became a Jesuit and was sent to study Catholic labor movements in Belgium in preparation for evangelizing Mexico’s workers. But he returned to find a Mexico determined to annihilate Catholicism, and, like priests before him during Ro-man persecutions, England’s Reformation, and in China today, ministered secretly to an “underground Church” until apprehended and sentenced to the firing squad. In his final moments, Father Pro blessed his executioners, forgave his enemies, and shouted: “Viva el Cristo Rey!—Long Live Christ the King!”—his defi-ant, dying proclamation of ultimate, transcendent loyalty. Father Pro’s martyrdom reinvigorated that beleaguered Church, whose countless faithful, never again afraid, would throng John Paul II when he visited Pro’s beloved Mexico fifty-two years later.

SANTA CECILIA (Siglo II) 22 de noviembre
Santa Cecilia es la patrona de los músicos, pero antes de cantar, su vida toda fue un canto para Dios. Nació en Roma y desde muy joven prometió entregarse a Dios y permanecer casta. Su padre no pensó así y la obligó a casarse con un no cristiano llamado Valeriano, quien no sólo respetó su voluntad, sino que también se hizo cristiano. Fue él mismo quien convirtió a su hermano Tiburcio, para luego, ser martirizados ante su negativa de adorar a los dioses de Roma. Al ver la manera heroica en que morían, Máximo, un cortesano se convirtió al cristianismo y también lo martirizaron. Cecilia dio sepultura cristiana a los tres, acción que le valió la reprensión y el juicio frente al Prefecto Almaquio, quien al ver que no desistía de su fe mandó que la quemaran en el baño de su casa, pero el fuego no le hizo nada. Después, mandó que la decapitaran y luego de golpearla en el cuello, agonizó durante tres días hasta que entregó su espíritu. Fue sepul-tada en las catacumbas de san Calixto.

If weather permits, we will be celebrating Mass in the church’s parking lot at 9:00am. 11:00am Mass will be held inside the church. All must stay in the car. Saturday at 5:30pm for seniors ONLY. (English) Indoor ca-pacity Masses will be limited to 60 people.
Alternative schedule for Sundays: Mass will be at 7:00am (Spanish), 9:00am (Spanish), 11:00pm (English), 1:00pm (Spanish)
Reasumiendo Misa
Si el tiempo lo permite, estaremos celebrando la misa en el estacionamiento de la iglesia a las 9:00am. La misa de las 11:00am se llevará a cabo dentro de la iglesia.
