GOOD SHEPHERD SUNDAY – Today is traditionally called “Good Shepherd Sunday” because the gospel tells us about our Lord Jesus Christ as the Good Shepherd who never leaves his flock untended. It is also
designated as World Day of Prayer for Vocations. We urge you each day to say a prayer for more Priests, Brothers and Sisters to serve God and His people. Our prayers, good advice and example can help many others to answer to Lord’s call to service in the Church.
MONTH OF MARY – The month of May is traditionally dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. We encourage you this coming month specially to pray the Rosary which is the most wonderful of Marian devotions.
EMAIL SCAMS NEVER SEEM TO END – During the week one of our parishioners informed us that he had received an email pretending to be Fr. Tesfaldet, our Pastor asking him to contact him "for help."
Thankfully, he was wise enough to be suspicious of these emails, so he contacted the rectory directly. Once again, this was a fake email using a fake email address which is not Fr. Tesfaldet’s. Please know that he will not send you unsolicited emails asking you to simply contact him. If you receive an email supposedly from Fr. Tesfaldet which just asks in general for you to contact him for any reason without specificity, it is fake. Same if it asks for money, gift cards, etc. All fake. Do not fall for these scams!

DOMINGO DEL BUEN PASTOR – Hoy se llama tradicionalmente
“Domingo del Buen Pastor” porque el evangelio nos habla de nuestro Señor Jesucristo como el Buen Pastor que nunca deja a su rebaño desatendido.
También está designado como Día Mundial de Oración por las Vocaciones.
Les urgimos cada día a decir una oración para que más sacerdotes, hermanos y hermanas sirvan a Dios y a su pueblo. Nuestras oraciones, buenos consejos y ejemplo pueden ayudar a muchos otros a responder al llamado del Señor al servicio de la Iglesia.
MES DE MARÍA - El mes de mayo se dedica tradicionalmente a la
Santísima Virgen María. Les animo especialmente este próximo mes a rezar el Rosario, que es la más maravillosa de las devociones marianas.
LAS ESTAFAS POR CORREO ELECTRÓNICO NUNCA
PARECEN TERMINAR – Durante la semana, uno de nuestros feligreses nos informó que había recibido un correo electrónico haciéndose pasar por el Padre Tesfaldet, nuestro Párroco pidiéndole que lo contacte "para pedir ayuda". Afortunadamente, fue lo suficientemente inteligente como para sospechar de estos correos electrónicos, por lo que se comunicó directamente con la rectoría. Una vez más, se trataba de un correo electrónico falso con una dirección de correo electrónico falsa que no es del Padre Tesfaldet's.
Tengan en cuenta que no le enviará correos electrónicos no solicitados pidiéndole que simplemente se comunique con él. Si recibe un correo electrónico supuestamente del Padre Tesfaldet, que en general solo te pide que te pongas en contacto con él por cualquier motivo sin especificidad, es falso. Lo mismo si pide dinero, tarjetas regalo, etc. Todo falso. ¡No caiga en estas estafas!

RESPONDING TO THE CALL
Do we truly know the voice of Christ? Do we truly respond to the voice of our shepherd with our own distinctive voice? How often we attempt to imitate those around us, appropriating the response of another member of the flock to Christ. Perhaps we need to balance the image of being sheep of one flock with the image from the second reading, which tells us that we are all children of God. What child has precisely the same interaction with parents as his or her siblings? Instead, they frequently do and say things to distinguish themselves in the eyes of their parents.
Whether we use the image of children or of sheep to understand our relationship with Christ, we believe that we are all known and called by name.
With this great gift comes a responsibility: to respond to the call with our own distinctive voice, to take time to discern exactly what our call is, to determine precisely what the will of the Father is for each of us.

RESPUESTA AL LLAMADO
¿Realmente conocemos la voz de Cristo?
¿Respondemos realmente a la voz de nuestro párroco, con nuestra propia y distintiva voz? ¿Con qué frecuencia intentamos imitar a los que nos rodean, apropiándonos de la respuesta de otro miembro del rebaño de Cristo? Tal vez la necesidad de equilibrar la imagen de ser ovejas de un rebaño con la imagen de la segunda lectura, que nos dice que todos somos hijos de Dios. ¿Qué hijo tiene
precisamente la misma interacción con los padres como sus hermanos? Por el contrario, con
frecuencia hacen y dicen cosas que se distinguen en los ojos de sus padres.
Ya sea que utilicemos la imagen de los niños o de las ovejas para entender nuestra relación con Cristo, creemos que todos somos conocidos y llamados por su nombre. Con este gran regalo viene la

FEAST OF FAITH The Gospel Reading
The climax of the Liturgy of the Word comes with the proclamation of the Gospel. Everything tells us that something important is happening. We stand. We sing special acclamations. Servers with candles and sometimes incense lead the deacon or priest to the ambo, where the reading is proclaimed from a special book.
All of the readings are important, but the liturgy directs special attention to the Gospel for a reason. “[A]
mong all the inspired writings, even among those of the New Testament, the Gospels have a special place, and rightly so, because they are our principal source for the life and teaching of the Incarnate Word, our Saviour” (Dei Verbum, the Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation of the Second Vatican Council, 18). In the Gospels, the narrative of Christ’s saving life, death, and resurrection continues to be proclaimed in our midst.
Our Sunday Lectionary is structured so as to allow us to hear as much of the Gospels as possible. The readings are arranged in a three-year cycle. In Year A, the Gospel readings are taken mainly from Matthew; in Year B, from Mark and John; and in Year C, from Luke. In this way, over the course of three years, we hear a substantial portion of all four Gospels.

FIESTA DE LA FE Segunda Lectura
Mientras que en la Misa Dominical la primera lectura siempre está relacionada con el Evangelio, la segunda lectura sigue su propio ritmo. Aun así, sin forzar la situación, parece obvia la vinculación o relación que ésta tiene con las demás lecturas. La segunda lectura está tomada de los escritos paulinos o de otros escritos apostólicos. La selección de las mismas durante los tiempos litúrgicos específicos es sumamente cuidadosa. A lo largo del Tiempo Ordinario, siguen su propio ritmo y gran parte de la relación de esta lectura con las demás, depende de la creatividad del homilista. Puesto que es una lectura diferente, se sugiere siempre un proclamador o proclamadora distinto a quien proclamó la primera lectura. La asamblea litúrgica es capaz en sí misma de captar que es un mensaje distinto, más no por eso, es ajeno a la centralidad del Evangelio.
