My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes, Off to Lourdes we go!

These past two years we have been blessed to have the North

American Volunteers at Lourdes, France here with us for our Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. They have shared with us the work of those who go to Lourdes for a week to help serve the pilgrims who come to Lourdes for healing of body, mind, and spirit. I’ve mentioned before that I feel that we are called as the parish of Our Lady of Lourdes in Miami to be a place of pilgrimage and healing and to provide for those who are unable to make the trip to France.

If we are going to serve in the spirit of the ministry taking place at Lourdes, France it is important that we know what that is. To that end I am thrilled that we have begun to serve at Lourdes. Last year we had five volunteers go and serve at Lourdes with the North American Volunteers. This year we will have twelve serving – and I will be among them. We will be blessing them at Mass as they prepare to leave for Lourdes early next month.

We will be serving at Lourdes for a week. I invite you to bring your special intentions to the parish office (or put them in the collection at Mass) and I will take them with me to Lourdes. Be sure that you will be in our prayers each day and please pray for us. When we return I will ask our volunteers to write a column and share their experience. Maybe next year we can have twenty volunteers serving!

I know that our parish life has already been greatly blessed by our volunteers having shared in service at Lourdes last year. As we continue to serve in the years ahead we will become ever more intimately united to Our Lady and her work of intercession and healing. How awesome!

Mi Querida Familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes, ¡Nos vamos a Lourdes!

Estos dos años que pasaron hemos tenido la bendición de tener a los Voluntarios de Norteamérica de Lourdes, Francia, aquí con nosotros para la Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes. Ellos compartieron con nosotros sobre la labor que realizan los que van a Lourdes por una semana para ayudar a servir a los peregrinos que llegan a Lourdes buscando sanación de cuerpo, mente, y espíritu. Anteriormente he mencionado que siento que somos llamados, como la parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes en Miami, a ser un lugar de peregrinaje y sanación y proveer para aquellos que no pueden hacer el viaje a Francia. Si vamos a servir en el espíritu del ministerio que se lleva a cabo en Lourdes, Francia, es importante que sepamos lo que es. Por ello, me siento emocionado de que hayamos empezado a servir en Lourdes. El año pasado tuvimos cinco voluntarios que fueron a servir al Santuario con los Voluntarios de Norteamérica. Este año tenemos doce sirviendo – y yo estaré entre ellos. Les daremos la bendición en la Misa mientras se preparan para ir hacia Lourdes a principios del próximo mes.

Serviremos en Lourdes durante una semana. Los invito a traer sus intenciones especiales a la oficina de la parroquia (o ponerlas en la canasta de ofrenda durante la Misa) y las llevaré conmigo a Lourdes. Estén seguros de que estarán en nuestras oraciones cada día y por favor ustedes también oren por nosotros. Cuando retornemos pediré a los voluntarios que escriban una columna y compartan su experiencia. ¡El próximo año, tal vez, podamos tener veinte voluntarios sirviendo! Sé que nuestra vida parroquial ya ha sido muy bendecida por nuestros voluntarios que compartieron el servicio en Lourdes el año pasado. Al continuar sirviendo los próximos años estaremos mucho más

May 1, 2014.

The Christian Formation office (located in the parish school administration building) is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM

until 4:00 PM. Parents can register children for Christian Formation (CCD) classes any

time during normal office hours.

Did you know that you can name Our Lady of Lourdes as a beneficiary on your IRA? Simply call your IRA

administrator and ask for a change of beneficiary form. This is simple to do and will benefit the parish for many years. You can do the same with a 401K or any other type of retirement plan you have. Also, if

you are over 70 ½, you can make a direct transfer from your IRA to Our Lady of Lourdes parish and

this would not be taxed or counted in any way as taxable income. For more information, contact the
