It is tradition to have animals blessed on the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi (October 4th).
We will have the blessing of animals at our parish on Sunday, October 1st at 3:30 p.m.
in front of the Main Church. Please br ing your pet if you would like to have them blessed. Please be sure to have your pet on a leash or in a cage for their safety and for the safety of their human friends.

COMMUNION SERVICE:

What are the "last rites"?
The "last rites" include three sacraments that a Catholic re- ceives when he or she is near death. Those three sacraments are Confession, Holy Communion, and Anointing of the Sick.
These sacraments should be received while the person is still conscious. They should not be delayed until right before death.
When you become gravely ill, do not wait until the last minute to call a priest. Call us right away. Celebrating these sacraments not only helps us at the very end of life.
They also are a source of spiritual healing that helps us to bear illness and suffering with faith.
¿Qué es la Extremaunción o los Santos Óleos?
La Extremaunción incluye tres sacramentos que un católico recibe cuando el o ella esta cerca de morir. Los tres sacra- mentos son la de Confesión, la Sagrada Comunión y la Un- ción de los enfermos. Youth Mass
We will be having the Youth Mass again this year. It will be held the second Sunday of the month during the academic year.
The first Mass of the new academic year will be Sunday, October 8, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. in the main church. All are welcome to attend. I am also putting a word out asking any young people (high school age and older) who would like to help and volun-
teer assisting at this Mass during the year. If you are interested, please contact Belinda Rodriguez, Director of Faith For-

Jamaica games coordinator is accepting volunteers to run a game booth.
Attention parishioners of San Jose, Wanted: toy donations, and game prizes for the Jamaica games. Requesting gentle used or new stuffed animals. ( lg, med, or sm.) And beanie babies. New or gen- tle used toys. Or new and gentle used toys from kids meals at fast food restaurants. We could also use money donations to purchase the prizes that the game booths are short of. All donations may be dropped off at the church office Monday through Friday 9am-5pm.

ALTAR OF REMEMBRANCE
We will have the Altar of Remembrance this year in the foyer of the main church. Beginning the weekend of October 21st all are wel- come to bring a picture of their loved ones and place it on the altar.
The altar will remain through most of the month of November up to the weekend prior to the First Sunday of Advent. Please use the following guidelines:
1) Pictures must be in a picture frame no larger than 5” X 7” (anything larger will be removed).
2) Must have a label behind the frame with name of the deceased.
3) Must have the name and current/valid phone number of the own- er of the picture in back of the frame.

Infertility & Miscarriage Support: Sarah's Hope & Abraham's Promise is a spiritual support program for couples struggling with infertility and miscar- riage. Based on Catholic teaching, we combine the wisdom of modern medi- cine with the healing power of the Catholic Church. We offer a women's Bible study support group, couples healing retreats and prayer services throughout the year.
Adoption Support: Destined: Families Built by Love is a spiritual support program and monthly playgroup for adoptive families. Anyone who has built their family through the miracle of adoption is invited to meet with other families to share the joys and challenges of adoption and fostering. The play- group meets once a month in different areas of Austin.
