Last week I reminded parents of their baptismal responsibility to bring their chil- dren up in the Catholic faith. I would add that this also applies to grandparents and godparents. I said that we as a parish com- munity will help with that responsibility by providing programs for adults to grow in their faith as well as
programs for children and teens.
One of the ways we try to help is by enrolling in the program called
FORMED. We have recently renewed our parish subscription based on the feed- back we have received from those who are using it.
FORMED has video programs for adults and children on any number of Catholic topics. It also has movies for adults, teens, and children. Best of all, it is free to our parishioners!
In the vestibule of the church we have forms that give you the code to use this valuable resource. And many of the programs are in Spanish.
In our difficult secular society today it is increasingly important that we are all well...FORMED...in our faith.

La semana pasada le recordé a los padres su responsabilidad bautismal de criar a sus hijos en la fe católica. Yo agregaría que esto también se aplica a los abuelos y padrinos. Dije que noso- tros, como comunidad parroquial, ayudaremos con esa responsabilidad proporcionando progra- mas para que los adultos crezcan en su fe, así como también programas para niños y adoles- centes.
Una de las formas en que tratamos de ayudar es mediante la inscripción en el programa llamado FORMED. Recientemente hemos renovado nues- tra suscripción a la parroquia en base a los comentarios que hemos recibido de aquellos que lo están usando.
FORMED tiene programas de video para adultos y niños sobre una gran cantidad de temas católicos. También tiene películas para adultos, adolescentes y niños. ¡Lo mejor de todo, es gratis para nuestros feligreses!
En el vestíbulo de la iglesia tenemos formas que incluyen la clave para usar este valioso recurso.
Y muchos de los programas están en español.
En nuestra sociedad secular de hoy es cada vez más importante que todos estemos bien ...

Our charitable activities encompass an almost infinite variety of local, national and international projects. From international charitable partnerships with special Olympics, the global Wheelchair Mission and Habitat for Humanity to our own Food for Families and Coats for Kids projects and other local charities, the opportunity to work together with fellow Knights and their families is virtually endless. In 2016, the Knights of Columbus set a new all-time record for the 18th consecutive year. Our charitable donations increased from $175 million in 2015 to a new total of $177,500,673 in 2016. In addition, we achieved our highest level of charitable service in 2016, volunteering more than 75 million hours of service.
Since 1882, membership in the Knights of Columbus has been open to men 18 years of age or older who are “practical” (that is, practicing) Catholics in union with the Holy See. Since that time, the Knights of Columbus has understood “practical catholic” to mean a Catholic who accepts the teaching authority of the Catholic Church on matters of faith and morals, aspires to live in accord with the precepts of the Catholic Church, and is in good standing in the Catholic Church. If you’re not a Knight and this describes you, you are invited to become a Knight of Columbus today.

Bishop Thomas Olmsted will preside. This is the largest continuous annual Rosary gathering in the United States. It includes praying the Holy Rosary in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, Benediction, music, and a keynote address by Bishop Patrick Zurek of Amarillo, Texas. This event will honor Mary under her title, Our Lady

Making Decisions
“Love is not selfish” (1 COR 13:5).
To insist on your own way is selfish and says to your spouse, “My way is better than your way…I am smarter…you don’t count.” Marriage is not a game with winners and losers. If you insist on your own way, having to be right in every discussion, you are going to win the discussion and lose the love and respect of your spouse. Your spouse has the right to share their perspective on issues. Remain quiet and allow them to voice their opinion. Listen, don’t argue or criticize! Ask questions in the context of getting additional information and under- standing. When a spouse has spent years trying to be heard but receives arguments or criticism, is steamrollered or ignored, they give up. A marriage lacking in emotional intimacy is one where a spouse feels they are not important enough to be listened to and appreciated.
When making a decision, ask your spouse to help you brainstorm a solution. Consider three or four ideas and label them A, B, and C. Do not label them, “Mine” and “Yours.”
Discuss together and decide which idea is best. It may be a combination of two ideas or one idea but it should be chosen because it is the best available solution and not because of who “owns” the idea. This procedure allows each spouse to be heard and participate in the decision making process. If this practice is done with children, present it as a family pro- cedure where they can offer thoughts and gain practice in good decision making techniques.
Share this with your spouse. Are you being a kind, loving spouse who values your
beloved’s ideas or do you insist on your own, prideful way? Begin today to listen with patience and attention to your spouse.

“El amor no es egoísta"
(1 COR 13: 5). Insistir en tu propio camino es egoísta y le dice a tu cónyuge: "Mi camino es mejor que el tuyo... soy más inteligen- te... Tu no cuentas". El matrimonio no es un juego con ganadores y perdedores. Si insistes en tu propio camino, teniendo que estar en lo cierto en cada debate, ganará la discusión y perderá el amor y el respeto de tu cónyuge. Tu cónyuge tiene derecho a compartir su perspectiva sobre los problemas. Permanece en silencio y permíte- le expresar su opinión. Escucha, no discutas ni critiques! Haz preguntas en el contexto de obtener información y comprensión adicional.
Cuando un cónyuge ha pasado años tratando de ser escuchado pero recibe argumentos o críticas, es aplastado o ignorado, se da por vencido. Un matrimonio carente de intimidad emocional es aquel en que un cónyuge siente que no es lo sufi- cientemente importante como para ser escucha- do y apreciado. Cuando tomes una decisión, pídele a tu cónyuge que te ayude a intercambiar ideas sobre una solución. Considera tres o cuatro ideas y etiquételas A, B y C. No las etiquetes,
"Mío" y "Suyo". Discutan juntos y decidan qué idea es la mejor. Puede ser una combinación de dos ideas o una idea, pero debe elegirse porque es la mejor solución disponible y no por quién es

Nuestros estudiantes de Educación Religiosa regresan a sus clases dominicales esta
semana. Por favor oren para que los
catequistas y las familias se acerquen a Cristo aprendiendo a conocer y amar los caminos de Dios.
A los padres y a los niños les encanta
aprender acerca de Jesús como el hacedor de milagros, el sanador, el Único a quien incluso el viento y los mares obedecieron. Pero también es necesario aprender que Jesús era el Siervo Sufriente profetizado por Isaías, el que sería como una oveja conducida al matadero.
¿Estamos listos para seguir a Jesús a donde quiera que Él nos conduzca?
Cuando tratamos de elaborar nuestros propios planes que eviten el sufrimiento o el
sacrificio, podemos estar seguros de que todavía tenemos mucho que aprender. Que Dios otorgue a cada familia la gracia de ser fieles hasta el final.

Our Religious Education students return to their Sunday morning classes this week.
Please pray for catechists and families to grow closer to Christ by learning to know and love God’s ways.
Parents and children love to learn about Jesus as the miracle worker, the healer, the One whom even the wind and seas obeyed.
But it is also necessary to learn that Jesus was the Suffering Servant prophesied by Isaiah, the One who would be like a sheep led to the slaughter. Are we ready to follow Jesus wherever He leads?
When we try to come up with our own plans that avoid suffering or sacrifice we can be sure that we still have much to learn. May God grant each family the grace to be faithful to the end.
