This is our last weekend with Gabriel, our sum- mer seminarian. He will leave next week for a little vacation and then to Rome to continue his studies. Please thank him and remember him in prayer this year. We have been blessed this summer to again have seminarians with us.
Also, I received a letter this week from the diocese congratulating us on our successful campaign: Together Let us Go Forth -Juntos Sigamos Adelante. The letter also said that we would be receiving our first check for $24,000 this month. This will not be enough to start any of the work we promised, so we will put it into savings until we receive our next check in six months.
The amount we receive is based on actual base received by the diocese, so please continue with your monthly pledges. As you can see, it pays off for us here as well as in the diocese as a whole.

Una Política de Puertas Abiertas Una idea secular que ha penetrado en nuestra cultura es la idea de privacidad, especialmente para los niños, con el fin de sepa- rarlos de los padres, la fe y Dios. Los niños quieren privacidad para desobedecer a los pa- dres o intentar algo que sus padres no permiten, así como los adultos quieren privacidad para desobedecer la ley civil o la ley moral de Dios, pensando que está bien, solo para que nadie se entere.
Un hogar católico debe tener una política de puertas abiertas. Las puertas están cerradas por modestia; tocar antes de entrar es apropiado.
Nunca pensaríamos en confiar nuestras finanzas a alguien que dijera: "Dame tu dinero y yo me ocuparé de él en privado, no es necesario que me supervises". ¿Se supone que debemos permi- tir que nuestros hijos, a quienes Dios nos ha confiado, vivan una vida privada sabiendo que el pecado y el vicio son omnipresentes? Los ni- ños pueden ser fácilmente influenciados por el pecado grave y las actividades ilegales. " No hay nada escondido que no deba ser descubierto, ni nada tan secreto que no llegue a conocerse y salir a la luz" (Lc.8: 17).

An Open Door Policy
A secular idea that has permeated our culture is the idea of privacy, especially for chil- dren, in order to separate them from parents, faith and God. Children want privacy to disobey parents or try something their parents would not allow, just as adults want privacy to disobey the civil law or the moral law of God, thinking it is ok just so no one finds out.
A Catholic home must have an open door poli- cy. Doors are closed for the purpose of modesty;
knocking before entering is appropriate. We would never think of trusting our finances to someone who said, “Give me your money and I will take care of it privately, no need for you to check on me.” Are we supposed to allow our children, whom God has entrusted to us, live a private life knowing sin and vice are pervasive?
Children can be easily influenced into serious sin and illegal activities. “Whatever is hidden away will be brought out into the open, and whatever is covered up will be found and brought light” (Lk.8:17).
Often when a child is suspected of a crime and the police access their room, parents are horri- fied to find a secret life of illegal and immoral activity. With the police involved there is no pri- vacy; the activities become very public.
Share this with your spouse. Say to your chil- dren, “Our door is open. We expect your door to be open. We are obedient to Christ and His Church, we are open and honest with you and expect you to do the same.” Teach your children they are an unrepeatable, one of a kind master- piece from God whom He has entrusted to you.

La Eucaristía es la satisfacción de nuestro mas profundo deseo. ¿Cuánto más cerca de Jesús podemos estar? El Cuerpo, la Sangre, el Alma y la Divinidad de Cristo entran en nues- tros mismos cuerpos y por algún hermoso misterio yo, junto con ustedes. . . Nosotros . . . nos convertimos en Su cuerpo! ¡Y a través de nuestra unión con Él, nos hacemos uno, el uno con el otro también!
La Eucaristía es comunidad. La Comunidad perfecta de la Santísima Trinidad se une a los Santos y Ángeles de todas las edades, y a los fieles de toda lengua, tribu y nación. Juntos en- tramos en los mismos misterios de la Encarnación, y la Pasión y la Resurrección de Jesús. Morimos al egoísmo y nos elevamos a una nueva vida de servicio.
Durante muchos años anhelé a Jesús en la Eucaristía y ni si- quiera lo sabía. Pensé que si no estaba satisfecha, significaba que algo mal me estaba pasando, o que tendría que esperar ir al cielo para sentirme satisfecha. Ahora puedo "saborear y ver la bondad del Señor. . . ", Y nunca me quiero volver a sentar afuera del salón de banquetes y sobrevivir con las migajas de mendigo nuevamente.
Juntos decimos las palabras de la penitencia y rogamos por Misericordia. Juntos escuchamos las palabras vivificantes del Evangelio. Nos acercamos y unimos nuestras manos y oramos "la oración que Jesús nos enseñó". Juntos nos arrodillamos y, con una sola voz, abrimos la boca y decimos "Amén". Uno por uno, venimos, rotos y heridos, al altar. Allí Cristo "solo dice la pala- bra y somos sanados".
¡Nada puede compararse con la Eucaristía! Aquí está mi fuente de vida, mi fuente de fe, esperanza, amor. . . . y profunda ALE- GRÍA!

Eucharist is our deepest desires satisfied.How much closer to Jesus can we get?
The Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ comes into our very bodies and by some beautiful mystery I, along with you . . . We . . . become His body! And through our union with Him we become one with each other too!
Eucharist is community. The Perfect Community of the Holy Trinity joins the Saints and Angels of all ages, and the faithful of every tongue and tribe and nation. To- gether we enter into the very mysteries of the Incarna- tion, and the Passion and Resurrection of Jesus. We die to selfishness and rise to a new life of service.
For many years, I longed for Jesus in the Eucharist and didn’t even know it. I thought if I wasn’t satisfied it meant either something was wrong with me, or I would have to wait for heaven to feel satisfied. Now I can
“taste and see the goodness of the Lord. . .”, and I never want to sit outside the banquet hall and survive on beg- gar’s crumbs again.
Together we speak the words of penance and beg for Mercy. Together we listen to the life- giving words of the Gospel. We reach out and join hands and pray “the prayer that Jesus taught us.” Together we kneel and with one voice we open our mouths and say “Amen.” One by one, we come, broken and wounded people, to the altar.
There Christ “only says the word and we are healed.”
Nothing can compare with the Eucharist! Here is my source of life, my source of faith, hope, love . . . . and deep abiding JOY!
