This weekend our Religious education program begins and Tuesday our Jr.
High Youth Group will start with our new Youth Minister, Julie McConnell.
Of course, that also means that
Wednesday our High School program begins. It is that time of year that many of our programs for adults will also be starting up if they have not started already. It is a busy time.
It is also time to remind parents that at the baptism of your children you promised God that you would “bring them up in the practice of the faith.” It is your responsibility that your children know their faith and the parish here to help you. Our adult programs help you answer those difficult questions that children ask and our programs for children also help them grow in faith.
Please remember that attending Mass every Sunday is a minimum part of practicing our faith. This should be taught to our children in word and in practice. In our increasingly secular society the pressures on our children are great and we must be diligent in sharing our faith with them.

Este fin de semana comienza nuestro programa de Educación Religiosa y el martes nuestro Grupo de Jr. High comenzará bajo la dirección de Julie McConnell, la nueva Directora del Ministerio de Jovenes. Por supuesto, eso también significa que el miércoles comienza nuestro programa de High School. Es en esta época del año que muchos de nuestros progra- mas para adultos también comenzarán si aún no han comenzado. Es un tiempo de mucha activi- dad.
También es tiempo de recordarles a los padres de familia que en el bautismo de sus hijos, le prometieron a Dios que los “criarian en la práctica de la fe". Es su responsabilidad que sus hijos conozcan su fe y la parroquia esta aquí para ayudarlos. Nuestros programas para adultos les ayuda a responder a las preguntas difíciles que hacen los niños y nuestros progra- mas para los niños también los ayudan a crecer en la fe.
Recuerden que asistir a misa todos los domingos es una mínima parte de la práctica de nuestra fe.
Esto debe enseñarse a nuestros niños de palabra y en la práctica. En nuestra sociedad cada vez más secular, las presiones sobre nuestros hijos son grandes y debemos ser diligentes para compartir nuestra fe con ellos.

Who Are The Knights of Columbus and
What Do They Do?
Simply put, the Knights of Columbus are the gentlemen that attend Mass with you on Sundays. The priest who presides over the Mass, the deacon, lector, oxtraordinary minister of the Eucharist and even those seated next to you..quite possible are Knights.
The Knights of Columbus are available primarito to assist the pastor and his parish whenever the need arises and , in doing so, they may remain true to the three principles on which the orders was founded: charity, unity, and fraternity.
The Knights was formed to render financial aid to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needy members and their families.
The Order has grown from several members in one council to 15,342 councils and 1.9 million members through the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, Poland, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Baha- mas, the Virgin Islands, Cuba, Guatemala, Guam, Saipan, Lithuania, Ukraine, and South Korea.

Families of Origin
Have you battled over families of origin with deep anger but no resolution? You are not alone.
We have all been hardwired by our family of origin, bringing what we learned as children into our marriage. We are to honor our parents ac- cording to the fourth commandment, to respect and help them when they are in need but we are not to repeat their toxic behaviors. You and your parents are not a sacrament. “A man is to leave his mother and father and cleave to his wife and the two become one” (MT 19:5).
You and your spouse are a sacrament bound together by the faithful, kind and patient love of Christ. As adults, we must be able to speak freely and kindly about always holding the heart of our beloved with honor and respect. There is no room for attacking in the sacrament of marriage. Therefore, we acknowledge our parents’ good traits we want to emulate in our marriage together with those behaviors that lacked love and do not belong in our marriage.
When a doctor identifies a health issue that needs attention, there is no show of anger, screaming, or sarcasm. Rather, the issue is dealt with in a calm manner with reason and love.
Share this with your spouse. You are standing at a crossroads. Analyze what is good to keep in your marriage and what needs to be discarded.
If certain behaviors did not work in your parent’s marriage it will not work in yours.
Don’t perpetuate the pain of destructive behaviors. All conversations about these behaviors need to be kind, considerate and helpful. Ask your spouse for help and work together with love and patience when this toxic behavior surfaces. Go to reconciliation and pray the rosary as a couple for peace.

Familias de origen
¿Has luchado contra las familias de origen con una ira profunda pero sin resolución? No estas solo. Todos hemos sido marcados por nuestra familia de origen, trayendo lo que aprendimos de niños a nuestro matrimonio. Debemos honrar a nuestros padres según el cuarto mandamiento, respetarlos y ayudarlos cuando lo necesiten, pero no debemos repetir sus comportamientos
tóxicos. Tú y tus padres no son un sacramento.
"Un hombre debe dejar a su madre y su padre y unirse a su esposa y los dos se convierten en uno" (MT 19: 5).
Tu y tu cónyuge son un sacramento unidos por el amor fiel, amable y paciente de Cristo. Como adultos, debemos ser capaces de hablar libre- mente y amablemente sobre siempre tener el corazón de nuestra amada con honor y respeto. No hay lugar para atacar en el sacra- mento del matrimonio. Por lo tanto, reconoce- mos los buenos rasgos de nuestros padres que queremos emular en nuestro matrimonio junto con aquellos comportamientos que carecían de amor y que no pertenecen a nuestro matrimonio.
Cuando un médico identifica un problema de salud que necesita atención, no hay muestras de ira, gritos o sarcasmo. Más bien, el tema se trata de una manera tranquila, razonando y con amor.
Comparte esto con tu cónyuge. Estás en una encrucijada. Analiza qué es bueno mantener en tu matrimonio y qué debe descartarse. Si ciertos comportamientos no funcionaron en el matrimo- nio de tus padres, no funcionarán en el tuyo. No perpetúes el dolor de los comportamientos destructivos. Todas las conversaciones sobre estos comportamientos deben ser amables, con- siderados y útiles. Pídele ayuda a tu cónyuge y trabajen juntos con amor y paciencia cuando surja este comportamiento tóxico. Ve a la recon- ciliación y reza el rosario como pareja por la paz.

La Familia Y la Fe
El Apóstol Santiago en las lecturas de hoy nos dice que imitemos a Cristo que se preocupa por los marginados, los enfermos, los débiles y los pobres. Cuando fuimos misioneros en Guatemala y visitamos un área rural muy pobre me enteré de que una joven pareja quería oraciones por su hijo moribundo. No estaba seguro de qué esperar.
La madre tenía quizás 16 años; el padre no era mucho mayor. Ella sostuvo a su hijo primogénito en sus brazos.
El padre acarició el cabello húmedo del niño. El bebé parecía tener unos quince meses, su cuello arqueado y anormalmente rígido. Me pidieron que rezara, así que comencé. “Oremos" En el momento en que hablé, se arro- dillaron sobre el suelo y comencé a orar en voz alta en español. No recuerdo lo que recé, solo lo impotente que me sentí. Cuando terminé, se pusieron de pie, llorando y dándome las gracias una y otra vez por mis oraciones.
Algo sucedió en mi corazón ese día. En presencia de esta familia pobre cuyos nombres nunca supe, me sentí pequeña y débil, y consciente de mi insignificancia ante Dios. Me mostraron humildad auténtica, gratitud sincera y una simplicidad de fe que nunca había experimentado.
No pidieron nada más que oraciones por su hijo
moribundo y se fueron contentos de que había orado con ellos. Todavía rezo por la gracia de imitar su fe y humildad.

Christ who cares for the lost, the outcast, the sick, the weak, and the poor. When we were missionaries in Guatemala visiting an impoverished rural area, I got word that a young couple wanted prayers for their dying child. I wasn’t sure what to expect.
The mother was maybe 16 years old; the father not much older. She held their firstborn son in her arms.
The father stroked the child's damp hair. The baby looked to be about fifteen months old, listless, his neck arched and unnaturally stiff. They asked me to please pray, so I began. "Oremos." - Let us pray.
The instant I spoke, they dropped to their knees on the bare floor and I began to pray aloud in Spanish.
I don't remember what I prayed, only how helpless I felt. When I finished, they stood, crying and thank- ing me again and again and again for my prayers.
Something happened in my heart that day. In the presence of this poor family whose names I never knew, I felt small and weak, and aware of my noth- ingness before God. They showed me authentic hu- mility, unfeigned gratitude, and a simplicity of faith I had never experienced. They asked for nothing except prayers for their dying child and went away content that I had prayed with them. I still pray for the grace to imitate their faith and humility.
