B- Professional Information 1 - Overall Aim of the Course
By the end of this course, the students should get information on morphological and microscopical features of medicinal roost, rhizomes, herbs, fruits and unorganized, along with their active constituents, uses side effects and contraindications.
2 - Competency- Based NARS
Domain 1: Fundamental knowledge
By the end of this course, the student will be able to:
1.1.Recognize morphological and microscopical features of medicinal roots, rhizomes, herbs, fruits and unorganized.
1.2. List active constituents, chemical tests and how to use the latter in identification of unorganized drugs certainly.
1.3. Mention the pharmacological actions, uses side effects and herbal drug interaction of certain medicinal plants & unorganized drugs.
Domain 2: Professional and ethical practice
By the end of this course, the student will be able to:
2.1. Utilize the microscope professionally for examining different powder in crude drugs. .
2.2. Detect adulteration in some varied powdered botanical drugs of roots, rhizomes, herbs, fruits and unorganized origin..
2.3. Applied pharmacological knowledge to solve herbal drug related problems.
2.4. Differentiate between the medicinal plants & unorganized drugs from the morphological point of view.
2.5. Differentiate between different classes of active constituents chemically 2.6. Prepare research projects with suitable conclusions and recommendations.
Domain 3: Pharmaceutical care
By the end of this course, the student will be able to:
3.1. Differentiate between correct and wrong data about medicinal plants.
3.2. Integrate the pharmacological properties of herbal drugs secondary
metabolites encompassing their therapeutic uses, dosage, adverse reactions and interaction.
Domain 4: Personal practice
By the end of this course, the student will be able to:
4.1. Work effectively either independently or in team in a limited time frame.
4.2. Enhance leadership and decision-making skills.
4.3. Adopt critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
4.4. Demonstrate creativity, social tolerance and ethical commitment.
4.5. Improve language, self-expression skills and time management.
4.6. Use information technology skills and proper media for effective presentation.
4.7. Practice self-learning and self-evaluation for continuous improvement of professional knowledge and criticism.
4.8. Search for reliable information from different resources about medicinal plants.
